Our moving truck was overbooked and not available at the time of move. Maintenance was not done on it as it went directly to us. It ended up being delayed 5 hours and we had to reschedule the movers. We purchased the Safemove protection with roadside assistance. The truck broke down on top of the pass in 105 degree weather with our daughter, niece and nephew (we're raising), family pets, a fully stocked fridge and freezer with ice bags, including organic skincare for my business and our 2 cars.

Truck overheated 10 minutes after pick up leaving us stranded on side of 401. Took 15 minutes to get through to roadside assistance. My husband told them the problem. He is a truck mechanic, runs a large trucking company. Not a roadside fix but they insisted that they needed someone else's assessment and that this person would email with ETA. Good thing we had our own cell phone and a connection. We are told ETA 90 minutes. No other mention of what they were going to do to fix this even though they had it on good authority that the truck is overheating.

As you rent your U-haul truck, bear in mind that your online reservation is ALWAYS subject to being changed to a time and place of U-HAUL's choosing. I wouldn't say this except that they have burned me this way, if not worse, 6 times now (yeah I know... How smart am I). It's okay for them to do this because there IS a clause in their rental info that basically gives them permission to do so. OK, so once, twice... But repeatedly? Why does U-HAUL even offer the "Preferred Location" selection if they are going to change it anyway? This last time I was again told there were no trucks available at the location I selected ("preferred"). I wanted this place because the people there treat you like a valued customer and are just plain generally nice people. At least once when corporate tried to bone me, they went out of their way to make it right (actually they went above and beyond that).

My son is moving from the SF Bay Area to Portland, OR. He is being charged over $1,900 for the move including sales tax and insurance. I asked the representative if we returned the truck in 2 days rather than the allotted 4 days if they would charge less. He told me they charged by the number of miles, not the time the truck would be rented. On a whim, I went to their website and input my address and his destination, same truck, also one-way. $167.00 was the estimate (pre-tax). You have to understand that he made a reservation three weeks in advance to understand the next part. I called the customer service dept and asked why they were charging him so much more if the charges were based on mileage. He lives 3.5 times farther than I do yet the charges were actually 10.4 times more than what I would be charged.

If you have a choice, DON'T rent from U-HAUL, ever. U-haul's customer service and computer reservation system are horrible. Very, very rude customer service representatives with pea sized brain. They can't even confirmed a reservation correctly. And who ends up getting screwed? The customers! You don't call your customers the day prior to the pickup date and tell them the location has changed when the reservation was already confirmed 2 days ago. If that location didn't have a truck available, then don't confirm it! This kind of messed up scheduling only drives your business away. I will never rent from U-Haul again.

Absolutely horrible experience with U-Haul this past August. Reserved a 10' Truck (4 hours) one week before my move date, and received confirmation that my truck would be there for the date and time requested. Fast forward a week. We arrived at the pickup location half an hour before reservation time. We were told the previous renter was on his way back to drop off the truck. Over an hour after the reservation time started and still no truck. Eventually the truck did arrive, but were refused access to the truck on the basis that the employee didn't believe we could return it before the next reservation. All that was offered was a phone number to contact a U-Haul reservation hotline to see if other trucks at another location were available (there obviously weren't as it was the last Sunday of the month).

TERRIBLE Experience with U-Haul! I reserved a day rental (an entire week ago) for this Saturday and I was informed today that I had to drive about 45 miles to pick up my truck. I was also given the option of picking one up this evening, but it would have to be back by 7 am tomorrow! Are you serious?! My moving date is Saturday... not Friday night or next Saturday which they also offered me. So in short I cancelled my order and I am going to contact Penske tomorrow. They said they would refund my $$$, but nevertheless I am still stuck with a moving date and NO Truck. You just don't treat people that way and I cannot believe you would advertise in-town one-day rentals and then just leave people hanging! Awful experience and I would say please DO NOT USE U-HAUL!!!

I tried twice to reserve a van at a local U-Haul and BOTH times was hung up on by 2 different representatives. They employ brainless losers to answer their phones. I don't even want to waste anymore of my life discussing this, just had to vent. U-Haul sucks! Period!

Made reservation 10 days ago to pick up a truck from a specific location and return same day. Called and confirmed reservation information a few days before due date and realized they had the wrong date, wrong pick up location and wrong truck size. Stayed on phone with reservations person for an hour and was told everything was all fixed. One day before my move I called location pick up and they let me know that they did not have the size truck I need and my pick up location had been moved to new location 40 miles away. NOTHING was correct once again. Asked to speak to a U-Haul supervisor and her entire attitude was "Oh Well that all we have available." What good is a reservation if they are not going to follow it!!!

I have been charged an extra $2000 from U-Haul and have been calling for 5 days trying to get my money back, meanwhile being charged overdraft fees every day. I have been passed around 3 different offices and been told for 5 days that it is "first priority of tomorrow morning" with no results. I am livid and looking into legal action to get this $2000 back. Unfortunately that means I have to figure out how to live without food for as long as it takes for either the court to award me $2000 or until I have worked at my job long enough to pay back the bank and get in the black. This is illegal and NO ONE WILL HELP ME.

The process of renting UBoxes was not at all as easy as it was made out to be when making reservations. I'm no expert on towing, and it was not clear to me that I would need a hitch in order to tow the UBoxes with my car. I therefore arrived on the morning of my rental to discover that I would need to rent a truck to move the boxes. The UBoxes I rented were not at the location I agreed to when reserving them online. I got to the agreed-upon location and was told to drive 30 minutes to where they were. Thankfully, the employee at the first location was kind enough to accommodate me and provide other UBoxes he had available.

We rented a U-Haul Trailer to move our daughter down to college. Upon our return, the trailer came loose from our hitch, swung widely from side to side, and rammed into the back of our SUV several times. We were able to avoid hitting any other vehicles and managed to get safely to the side of the road. We immediately called the U-Haul help line and were told to reattach the trailer and drive to an auto parts store 37 miles away to have someone check it was properly installed (the wires had been torn out, so we had no trailer lights). Once we realized the store would be closed by the time we arrived, we called back two additional times to get assistance. We were told we could drive the trailer 150 miles home or wait two hours in the dark for someone to come out and inspect it to ensure it was safe to tow (we thought it was safe to tow the first time).

I wrecked a car parked in a corner in a NO parking space while driving a 26' U-Haul truck on 8/16. I paid $14.00/day for their insurance coverage, still I'm being asked by their insurance company Repwest to provide my personal ins. info. They sent me a form I had to sign giving them my ins. information basically authorizing Repwest to contact them. So I signed nothing. I told the rep unless I have more information from them such as the cost of the damages and how much the $14.00 premium was really worth, I wasn't cooperating with them. If they're attempting to collect money from me and/or my personal insurance, how would they deny me that information?

Certainly the last time I rent a Uhaul by choice. I opted to go to my local Uhaul instead of a Penske or Budget because they were close by. I make the reservation a month ahead thinking I'm being responsible and avoiding any possible screw ups. WRONG! Uhaul found a way to make my life more difficult. I get a phone call two days before I'm supposed to pick up the truck saying that the location I reserved doesn't even have trucks, and now I have to drive over an hour to get a vehicle. I would have canceled but all the competitors jacked their prices up for a last minute reservation. Horrible customer service, horrible website, horrible company.

I was quoted $135.00 for a truck for 10 hours and storage. When I went to pick up the truck I could only keep the truck for 6 hours or I will be charged a late fee. My total for the truck for 6 hours and storage was $223.00. I also was lucky enough to get a free month of storage, that was also charged on my card for insurance, if I keep the unit or not! Well after my lovely day at U-Haul and moving. When I returned the truck on my way out, I hit a pot hole in their driveway and now my car is as loud as the lies I got from U-Haul employees. Thank you U-Haul. It's been the worst moving experience I've ever had! I guess I got what I paid for (U-Haul).

In a world of technology, sorry U-Haul you can't do that! Upon returning the 120000 miles piece of crap truck I rented, a rude, unapproachable, weird person walked up to me and said, "I need the keys and they are on your hand." The dude was rushing me so bad that I lost $20 right there. Went to my car, put my kid in my car, returned and the dude already charged my credit card. I said I want to pay cash. He said with an unapologetic attitude, "I've already processed the transaction and you will get a receipt in the email." 2 hours later, when he finally sent my receipt, I noticed a charge for $7 for a dolly I did not use.

Today I went to the U-Haul branch on Ontario Street in Cohoes, NY to have one bolt installed in a trailer hitch which I had purchased from U-Haul and had it installed by U-Haul. The bolt was missing due to improper installation by U-Haul to begin with. These are half inch bolts, they NEVER just fall off. In fact there was NO TRACE on the hitch plate of a bolt having ever been installed in that location. I called U-Haul and I was told over the phone that since the trailer hitch has a lifetime warranty, the bolt will be replaced by them. At most - I was told - there would be a $5 charge. When I drove to the U-Haul branch on Ontario Street in Cohoes, NY your employees there told me THAT THEY HAD NO BOLTS AVAILABLE. Perhaps the fact that I am a WOMAN made them think I am stupid enough to believe that U-Haul does not have bolts available.

I was in a hard spot due to being laid off and had to move my storage to save money. I did not have the funds so my 70 year old mother was kind enough to send me a certificate to cover the cost. I show up at U-HAUL, present the certificate and they tell me that they don't have a truck but I could wait. I wait for 3 hours and they have the truck. I then start to check out the truck and hand the lady the certificate. She said that I could not use it until after I got back and they close at 7pm. I knew I could not load, travel, unload, and return trip by 7pm. I came back first thing in the morning and there is a new lady there.

Wasn't familiar with U-Haul. Brett was extremely patient in explain in detail how the process worked...very polite and friendly. Provided excellent customer service and was much appreciated. Thank you so much and I will definitely be recommending the location as well as using it in the future.

Are you the type of person that wants your rental truck to drive like a jackhammer? Maybe you want the dash to smash your shins and new TV? How about having all of your earthly possessions stuck inside of a broken-down, POS truck from the year 2000? Perhaps you would like a phone call at 8 am everyday asking "when you gonna our truck back", even though said truck had to be towed because it had a bad battery, alternator and fuel pump? How about having someone "hold" your hard-earned money for 3 WEEKS (because you haven't returned the truck) then being told it will be refunded today, only to wake up the next morning and see that they actually TOOK money from your account and now you have an overdraft fee?

U-Haul has been a pain since I first started using them. Terrible communication. I called the customer service. They told me one thing. Went to pick up the U-Haul and it was completely different. The man I had to deal with hung up on me and then charged us more than the total I was first given. I will never use them again.

Booked a truck. When got to service center it was closed. Called U-Haul and they sent me to another center. When I got there he said he had no trucks which he told the dispatcher but they're not me there anyway. I told the Broward County dispatcher which spoke broken English what had happen and she hung up on me and said tough crap.

First I called the U-Haul customer service number to see if the truck would be available on the date and time I was going to pick it up. After the customer rep state yes, I booked it. A day later they called to change the reservation to a city 42 miles away and a smaller truck. To which I notified them that I did not have a way to get there and asked if they could bring the truck to the location I had reserved, they said no. Next we changed the reservation to the original location but a day later.

I have contacted U-Haul in an attempt to get this matter resolved before writing a review. There is a definite disconnect between U-Haul, Dispatch Locations, Moving Helper and the moving company. When you have issues they want to pass the buck around and around. I moved from Atlanta to Pittsburgh in June (peak moving season). I wanted to add another box to my order and they said it needed to be done on the day of the move. The day of the move came and I added a second box (which they charged me exorbitant transportation fees for adding it so late?) I was then charged for six boxes!

First I called U-Haul to get some rates for U-boxes and to have my furniture shipped to Brooklyn, New York from Port St. Lucie, Florida. The next day I called to set up the time for the U-boxes to be delivered to my house and where they would be delivered to in Brooklyn. I decided to load the U-boxes in Florida myself. They were delivered to my house in Florida on June 19th because they only deliver and pick up on Fridays. I hired Marjam Movers to unload the U-boxes at my house when they came to Brooklyn. During the conversations with U-Haul they asked where I wanted them delivered. I gave my new address in Brooklyn. During all of my conversations with U-Haul they never once said they don't deliver to your house in New York.

I recently rented a 26 ft truck from U-Haul of Saddle Brook NJ. At first I thought to myself that the truck was old but as long as the job gets done I don't really care. First thing to happen was the steering was very off so you had to drive the truck in turning position. Next the transmission kept getting stuck so it would buck really hard. It stalled out twice and almost refused to turn on 3 times including a 15 min wait time to get it started. Then when night time came the lights inside the back of the truck would not turn on forcing us to move in complete darkness. Then I call to complain the next day.

U-Haul Inventory error cost me $1300.00 debited from my account. On July 29, 2015 I rented a cargo van for one week. When returning the truck I discovered that my bank account had been erroneously debited prior to my rental return for $1100. My money was not returned to my account until 2 business days later. Meaning no access to my account for 2 days. After the error the location manager stated she would not charge me for my rental due to the error.

I delivered 2 Uboxes to West Seneca, NY U-Haul location. Both Uboxes supposed to be delivered July 21 to my address. One box was misplaced. Computer errors happened. I received August 10 only one box and nobody can say me where is another Ubox. It's terrible moving experience.

I was told by Ryan at the U-Haul on Greenville and Ross ave. in Dallas, Tx. that the miles on the truck was wrong according to the print out. He wrote the correct miles on the print out and drew a line through the wrong one. I was charged for 50 miles, but the trip was less than 20 miles.

Once again Uhaul proves what a $#*!ty company they are. I made a booking thee weeks ago, checked on it several times. Recieved confirmation and a text Today. Spent an hour standing at the desk and WHAT you don't have my trailer! You want me to drive 2 HOURS TO ANOTHER TOWN. I live in Edmonton an now I have to drive to Wetaskewin. You are messing with people's lives for gods sake. You think this is acceptable business practice. Oh they kindly offered us the 50.00 guarantee WTF. It will cost a lot more than that for the gas and time lost. You SUCK. And it costs them nothing...they chargeback the 50.00 to the last guy who rented. Woo hoo! Hahaha. Screw you uhaul. Our experience was a nightmare... I read the reviews prior to renting the truck but I figured if I got names and a confirmation number I would be covered. NOT!!!!!! Ordered truck near my home to be picked up at 8 am just for my husband to get to the location and find out there was no truck for us and attendant at the gas station was uncooperative... When we called ahaul they tried to tell us our reservation was for 2 pm mind u I had spoken with someone three times about this reservation even to inquire about a larger truck after my initial order. After traveling to several locations and uhaul checking around I had no choice but to wait until 2 with my help waiting and being unconvinced just for the person who was suppose to return that truck to keep it for an additional day.... This was a total inconvenience and turned out to Beverly costly. They gave us another truck at 2 and a discount but it doesn't compare to what we went thru and neither did the fifty dollar check the sent for our inconvenience and additional funds we put out from this situation. They need to do more when the cause such an inconvenience. That only covered anything not even what we put out for the truck

Things that went wrong: Gave us the wrong directions from the Uhaul website Sent us to 2 different locations to pick up a truck & a trailer The locations were over 30 mins from our house when there were literally 20 locations closer The trailer light system did not work – we sat in the parking lot for hours waiting for roadside assistance to fix it – the day before we were loading our truck & moving We left the house at 2pm to pick up this equipment & did not get back till 7pm – with the lights still not working as we would have had to wait 3 more hours – so we risked a ticket at the behest of uhaul The truck size we were advised to get was too small and so we did not move out of state with all our belongings The day were loaded our truck we had to get roadside assistance to come fix the lights I called customer service repeatedly to get these things fixed & talked about – I got put on hold & the run around Things that went right: we got offered an upgrade on the truck size (could not take it – the truck we too far away so still moved without all our stuff) and we got a discount from the office that rented us the trailer- also a few of the customer service reps were not nasty.

Rented truck in Oakland California. Customer service was good and there was no problem with the truck. However when you see 19.95 advertise on the side of the truck you believe the rental is $19.95. What is not mentioned is that you are charged .89 a mile, which is acceptable, except you are charged for 50 miles upfront even if you do not drive 50 miles. The $19.95 rental ended up costing $98.00. It is actually cheaper to rent a panel van from Enterprise, you get free mileage.

Speedo, Cascades Blvd, Sterling, VA worst customer service. District mgr informed us that he was going to "shut" this operation down, after what we experienced. Tried to send us off the lot with nonworking equipment saying it wasn't his job to fix it, just rent it. Rude, sexist and bossy owner.

Before I reserved the truck, I called Uhaul to see i they had the rental truck available, to which the Uhaul employee verified and stated yes. A day later my reservation was changed to another city and a smaller truck. After going back and forth over three days and Uhaul changing my reservation THREE times (different times, different cities and different times), I finally gave up and was left with no choice as the last change to my reservation came in the last day and I could not extend my stay as I needed to be back at work. I am absolutely dumb struck that a company like this actually exists.Worst through it all customer service couldn't care less, very upsetting."

Just rented a U Haul truck that I had reserved two weeks ago. The lady from the location called early today and said the size of truck I rent was not available, tried to get me to take a smaller truck so I went to the location right away and found one sitting on their lot (whats up with that). When I went back later that day at my pickup time at 5pm by the way which the lady when she called said they ask all their customers to be pickup by 4:45pm ( I guess business is not worth staying a few minutes late to give customer service maybe they should change their hours and stop trying to work bankers hours. When I did pickup my truck the truck was dirty both inside and out, the windshield was so dirty it was a safety hazard when the glare from the sun hit it. By the way Jims Campen and Trailers in Fletcher NC has to be the rudest place of business and the most unorganized place in town. Don't expect to get a live body when you call U Haul customer service it is hopeless.

I made a reservation 2 weeks before my out-of-state move. When I made the reservation, the lady over the phone told me someone would call me the next day to schedule my truck pick up. I waited, no call. I called back a few days later, and man over the phone told me that they generally call to schedule a pick-up 3-4 days before the move. I waited, no call. I called two or three days before my move, and the man over the phone told me that they generally call to schedule the pick up THE EVENING BEFORE THE DAY OF THE MOVE! Fine. I waited. No call. Well, on the DAY of my move, I called their main office and was told to go to this location to pick up my truck. I got there at 10:00 am, and they told me they had no truck available!!! I am moving across the country, and I don't have a truck to load my stuff into on the day of my move! If a U-Haul customer service representative wants to confirm this, they can just review the phone logs associated with my account. I look FORWARD to hearing from them.

Regarding location: Pearl Oil Change 1314 Pearl Rd Brunswick, OH 44212-On day of reservation May 1st, they tell me they do not have the truck available. Then they told me to go to another location several towns away to pick it up. I went to Medina location and they said Pearl Oil Change should have never sent you here as there was a closer location called Skyview Farm. So I drove again to third location and finally received truck.I want you to be aware how unprofessional location Pearl Oil Change is. I have to everyone I know to know rent U-Haul because of this experience. SKyview location was fine. But, Pearl Oil Change was a disaster. Please pass this along to corporate and have these location checked out as they are the worst."

I rented a truck for $19.95 a day plus $.99 a mile on 7/2409 at 1:43pm and returned it on 7/25/09 at 10:30am with at total mileage driven of 6 miles. my total bill was $50.13, the clerk charged me $19.95 twice she stated that the rental was $19.95 for the first 6 hours. I have rented trucks from U Haul many times before and this was the first time i have ever heard this. This is a total rip off. The store is THE BABY DEPOT (042423).

HUDSON, FLORIDA -- Horrific! Agree! I had a good experience from Monterey CA to ocaside & back but from CA to Florida the vehicle broke down 3 times, extra hotels, food & time spent and my furniture ( new, some got wet with a leak in the uhaul) no compensation! From Florida supposed to have been phoenix but they demanded a drop off address so I had to give my old one and with witnesses I made it clear I had no home and Arizona (phoenix)was were I was going. On trip, got a call over 1000.00 tacked on if I drop it off there because of wrong drop off and money for the trailer, vehicle and insurance added. Bull! I made it clear phoenix and Monterey I had no home. Looking for a home in phoenix and tons of money spent on hotels, food, gas & I have sle lupus & was so sick with stress. I get calls back for homes and no, I lost them because I was forced to drive sick back to Monterey after all the money and time I spent looking for a home. So I cried and cried and had two extensions should have only been tops 400 even though I was told 40 a day. They have these recordings. Listen to them. I am homeless, in Monterey, money gone and I had to wait 7 extra days because the manager in Florida was supposed to call me and the only one who could fix it. It was a Friday and no calls all weekend with me constantly calling. Then this happen again. I have witnesses. I got so sick with my lupus. I was scared enough not knowing where I was going to get a home in phoenix then after talking to 9-14 uhual people I could take no more. The manager in Florida said "you made the reservation over the phone so we need their recording" i said no I did not me and a man came in directly and made the reservation. She admits to remembering me saying I had no home so phoenix would be where I would most likely look and she said just call in and give the drop off so no extra charges. Really, they were tacking on money anywhere they could and stalling. She the manager in Florida said this "i called my supervisors and can get nowhere and I can only say drop it off" i refuse to pay the extra after the 1829.00 I paid up front. No way. They owe me for time, lost homes, my health, a vehicle we found out after tons of cars beeping at me because the lights stopped working. We look and the wires are broke but I was told to hurry up and drop it off so I kept going. So to Florida and back has been a nightmare and I am in a abusive situation because uhaul workers could not do their job and customer service would not right things. I will not pay more. I have witnesses, receipts and my Dr to take to court if they wish. I am so aggravated, depressed and scared. I am stuck in this place sick. Great job uhaul for messing my life up now.

EDMONTON -- Complaint about a Canadian U-Haul at Edmonton (9521-51st avenue, Edmonton, AB T6E4W8 Canada). Complete dissatisfaction with the unprofessional services and disrespect demonstrated by several staff members. The experience has left us with the impression that U-Haul's advertising is completely false and we will not be recommending your business to anyone in the near future.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- I'm writing with a complaint about the price and value at U-Haul, and I hope someone will take this seriously. I recently rented a truck from U-Haul. On approximately March 29, 2003 I made an online reservation (reference number **) for a 17 foot truck and auto transport to be picked up on 4/3/2003 at 925 Niagara Falls Boulevard Amherst, NY 14226. In retrospect I wish I had never rented any equipment from your company. The following will explain why. The first problem I had was when the general manager of the facility ** neglected to place the utility dolly in the back of the truck prior to my taking possession of the truck.

LEONARDTOWN, MD -- My husband and I move a lot and we just got our Uhaul containers delivered today. This is the first time we are doing it without a truck and with containers. My experience is as follows so far. The Negatives: I have a paved large circular driveway I asked them to be placed on. I am guessing it is slightly uneven in parts (like most pavement). Due to this the delivery guy wedged shims with a sledge hammer after delivering them. After putting in my lawnmower, however the door no longer closes.

ESSEX, MARYLAND -- Scheduled a 9am pickup for a 15 ft truck for an out-of-state move. When I arrived, there was ONE Uhaul truck with the flattest tire I have ever seen (possibly slashed?). Called customer service on 4 different phones & spent an hour trying to get it sorted out. Their only advice: they can provide a replacement within 24 hours. Never mind that there are multiple Uhaul locations within 10 miles. For some reason we weren't offered an immediate replacement truck from one of those locations. I had hired paid movers and had to drive 8 hours to my new location and had already taken half a day off of work for this move. In the end, I went down the street to Penske. They had dozens of trucks available and were able to get us a truck in 15 minutes. The next day when I contacted Uhaul regarding my experience, I was hung up on three times by customer services representatives out of the corporate office. One of them, who identified herself as Katrina out of the executive office in Phoenix, was so incompetent she wasn't even able to locate my contract. Her colleague was able to locate it immediately, so obviously Katrina was not competent to perform her job. Finally someone offered me a $50 reservation guarantee credit, which doesn't even begin to rectify the 2 hours delay, extreme emotional distress suffered, and pitiful excuse for customer service I've experienced by virtually everyone I've spoken with from the company. In addition, one of the customer service representatives, who hung up on me, offered me a replacement truck...three days after the date of the contract...for an out-of-state move. Absolute incompetence. I will NEVER use Uhaul again. Penske was $400 more expensive, and worth every penny. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!! Definitely contract with a competitor over Uhaul. Unless, of course, you have hours to waste waiting for someone with an ounce of competence to assist you in customer service.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY -- I will never rent another you haul truck again. I had a rental truck for a couple days at the end of may. After my contract was final the total cost was $406. Uhaul took over 700 dollars out of my account without my permission. I don't drive so my only mode of transportation is the city bus and I live outside of the city. Knowing I had money in my account, my wife and I took the bus to the city with the cash we had, thinking we could withdrawal more at the ATM in the city.

Somehow it went to $84.98 is what they said. Okay no big deal, tax right? So everything went good with the payment until my bank account balance automatically text me anytime anything is spent on my account. It said the charges were for $97 and 69 cents.

TEXAS -- Several months ago, I was planning a cross-country move and checked into UHaul's U-Box Pods system. I spent an entire day on the phone with them, because I kept getting "transferred" and cut off. I spoke with seven different people, and got seven different quotes for the exact same scenario. They refused to send me a quote in writing (ie. an email) until I'd paid them an amount ranging from $240 to $650, depending on who I was talking with. I asked to speak with a manager, and kept being transferred randomly to various non-managers. Not that it mattered, because when I did get someone who said he was a manager, he was as clueless as the rest of them.

Based on the reviews, I was reluctant to book here. However, since I just needed a truck for a few hours to move a couch in Manhattan and because this outlet seemed convenient (more on that below), I figured I'd give it a shot. Glad I did. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but my experience really was great.(1) On 8/24, I booked a 10-foot truck to pick up the following day at 4:15. I called ahead to confirm at noon on 8/25 - all good. I arrived at 3:55 pm on 8/25, was on the road with my truck and moving blankets by 4:10.(2) I said that I needed the truck for 4 hours, and the guy said it always pay to add an hour. I did, and used it! (returned it at 8:45pm)(3) Speaking of which - I returned it at 8:45 pm. Do you realize how convenient it is that the place is open til like 11!? If you plan on moving in the evening, this detail alone will save you having to rent for two days and find overnight parking. (Perhaps some other outlets have this service, but none of the ones I found in the city did).(4)The estimate was $71 (including $16 for optional extra insurance, and about $10 for the blanket rentals, which were very clutch), but I went about 10 miles more than I thought I would. So it came out to $84. Very cool with that. (5) Returning the truck was equally snappy - took a couple extra minutes to peel off some tape from the blankets, but that seemed like a totally reasonable request.(6) Everyone I interacted with was perfectly helpful and willing to answer my questions. Obviously, this was only my experience and I utilized the service for a very specific and simple purpose, but I was entirely satisfied. Would not hesitate to use this Uhaul again for similar jobs.

The worst customer service I've ever gotten. These people do not have customer service as a priority, from the associates to the general manager, they're just there to collect a paycheck. I was never explained verbally that the truck I rented had to be returned to the same location. Nor was it written anywhere. Their explanation and indication was: that my rental was a local rental. To me, as a customer who doesn't know the policy and procedures, local means to me, within the same city. Not for them, I called them to ask if I could return it at another location and the person I talked to expected me to understand their policy by these clues: -that the receipt had the address on the top. (Every business in America places their address on the top of their invoice sweatheart) that's no indication of return to that address. -that the window of use was only 4hrs. (How can I assume that is the use is for only 4hrs, it had to be returned to the same location)When returning the truck the person who inspects and checks you out was waking around the area like it was his break time. I had to wait about 20mins for him to decide to come back to work. Went inside and just placed the keys on the counter and left. An associate yelled at me: "is there a reason why you just threw those keys?" I mean these people are ready to fight you. I rated their service online after my experience and the genera manager called me and said "the only thing I can do at this point is apologize". Yeah, like I need an apology. I've worked in the customer service industry for about 16yrs, and was a generals manager also. I made sure if a customer had such bad experience that they were compensated somehow for the time with us to ensure they would come back. I WOULD NEVER COME BACK TO THIS LOCATION. GOOD LUCK COLLECTING YOUR PAYCHECK FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

They were the first ones I thought of for storage and moving to my disappointment!  WARNING - they don't even do moving anymore; they suggest outside movers who don't even have a truck! And this is only to put your stuff into storage.Secondly they really gouge you for Manhattan storage since theyre one of the few, but even their biggest storage unit is not that big. They also seem really short-staffed there, you'll wait awhile for help. Once my questions were answered I knew I had to go elsewhere.

I'd give it zero if I could.By far the worst UHaul location I've been to, and that's saying something - after all, no one expects a stellar customer experience from UHaul.I've had numerous scheduling fails here: not once was my UBox ready for unloading when I showed up. Moreover, the front desk can't deal with a lot of UBox issues - leaving it to the UBox staff, many of which leave (inexplicably!) well before 4PM. Courtesy? Yeah...no. That's in short supply from the front-desk staff, some of whom act like they're doing you a giant favor in dealing with you.My recommendation: avoid this location if you can. If you can't - call (if you can get through) ahead and MAKE SURE that they have everything lined up.EDIT:I'd like to say that not everyone at this location acts this awfully. There are some staff who genuinely do try to help you - and my sincere thanks to them. But, the overall attitude is still incredibly poor.

Uhaul. You think you want to save money and you think that YOU want to HAUL-- but really, moving sucks and there comes a point where you wish you just spent more money and the move would take care of itself. I did a DIY move recently and here are the tips to make your Uhaul experience more do-able:- Reserve a truck. There are calculators to help you figure out the size. but don't forget ... bigger is better (that's what she said). - Make sure you get accessories -- dolly (consider 2!), moving blankets, etc. Then when you go to pick them up--- COUNT THEM because they won't do this for you and you might almost grab the wrong (lesser) amount - Get the first reservation slot and show up 15 minutes before they open. You'll avoid waiting in lines. note- your rental starts when you SAID you will pick it up- not when you actually pick it up. So don't f* that one up- spend a LONG time doing a walk around and point out every scratch dent etc before you sign off - Check the gas gauge and make sure you understand where the gas stations are located - Understand that the advertised price on the truck is about half of what you'll end up paying .. miles, gas .. they add up Everything was fine. Uhaul helped me to save hundreds of dollars. But I love this place as much as I love going to the dentist.

Complete morons who work here. Ordered moving supplies online.. Called to confirm that my order was ready to be picked up (I was told it was). I arrived at the store, one of the employees starts asking me to get all the items on my list and tells me a couple of the items are out of stock and since he already clicked them as picked up on the system couldn't give me a refund unless I had a the credit card i used (my mistake for forgetting my CC at home). I returned with my CC to get a refund and waited around for 30 mins while a line of 5-6 people grew because one incompetent worker was trying to rent a van to a couple in front of me and the other 2 were just walking around listening to there iPhones with headphones on... I guess its my fault for having any expectation of customer service..

It's a u-haul in a major metropolitan city. It's. $20 plus $2/per mile plus insurance $20. I ended paying $400, but that is what I expected to move something myself out of the city. Gas was another $30. It's expensive. But, worth it for my purposes. I wish we could get the mileage rate they charge upstate but alas I live in manhattan and everything cost $$$. It worked. My truck was cute albeit a bit dented. But, nothing lost.

I'm just here to ease the worries that almost made me decide not to use this UHAUL and rent a ZipVan instead; a decision which would have cost me much more money. I rented a 9' cargo van to move my bed and some other furniture/boxes from my old apartment in the LES to my new one in the Upper West. I reserved the van a week in advance and checked in online to simplify the process and hopefully to remedy some of the sources of horror story reviews I saw on here previously. I arrived to pick up the van around 12:00, fifteen minutes before my reservation time. I walked in, was directed to the counter where I provided a woman at the desk with my license and credit card. I was explained the contract in simple terms and had the keys in my hand in under 5 minutes. The staff was nothing but courteous to me.When I got to the garage to pick up my van, it was in a pretty tight parking spot so I asked one of the attendants if he could move the van in front so I had room to pull out. He instead pulled my van out for me and drove it to the curb; perfect. From there it was smooth sailing. I picked up my stuff, threw it all in the back (the van was very clean, I was impressed) and brought it to my new place. I got caught in traffic dropping it off but I returned it around 15 minutes ahead of schedule regardless. The drop-off took around 5 minutes; the attendant checked my gas usage, told me the charges, came to 71 dollars for around 15 miles.I definitely wouldn't discount using them for your standard in-town vanilla move. It was an easy way to get me from place to place and I saved a lot compared to hiring movers. I can't speak to the UBox issues that a lot of people had, which to be honest sound pretty bad, but at least for a standard move like this I would certainly use them again.

The guys in the parking garage were quite helpful at drop off. That's about the only positive.Rates are kind of high. The lady at the front desk was also extremely cold and unhelpful. At one point I approached her and she snapped at me instead of asking me nicely to wait. Also, she mentioned that we get overcharged for gas we don't refill, but forgot to mention that the charge is negligible if the tank is still at least 1/4 full. I had to read the fine print to figure that out; otherwise would have had to run around town for an hour, during rush hour, looking for a gas station. Unprofessional.

Generally reluctant to give 5 stars but my experience today was seamless. Showed up 30 min prior to the reservation time - there was no wait and the check-in process was relatively quick. Keep in mind that this was the morning of a work day. I noticed that the boxes there are pretty cheap - much cheaper than the boxes they offer at my storage place Chelsea mini-storage. They seem to have all the supplies you would need to move (I just didn't need it). The cargo van we got was brand new model and clean which I was impressed with and prompted me to write this review. Note that you need to look at the receipt to see how much gas you started with and how much you need to fill to because if they need to fill it on their end, they charge a significantly higher amount per gallon.

They lost my ubox for 3 weeks, then once they found it continued to charge me for it for two months after it was delivered.  I spoke with the headquarters (which is just as bad) and they still haven't refunded me.  I"m going to call my bank for credit card fraud because they keep charging me and haven't reversed the charges.  Worst business I've ever dealt with.

This place is the worst. I live in the neighborhood and they constantly have security alarms going off at all hours of the night.  I spoke to the manager, Ian Brown, a minimum of 15 times and he has done absolutely nothing to rectify the problem (which is clearly an over sensitive alarm trigger and employees not understanding how to disarm when opening/closing the store).  Ian Brown is rude and abrasive every time I speak to him.  This problem has been going on for close to a year now. In addition, the uHaul trucks are always being parked on the street, blocking traffic and making the street dangerous for anyone trying to hail a cab.  The place should be shut down.

The location at 23rd Street was much better than I expected after reading the reviews. When you go in the main entrance, the store sells boxes, bungees, and other moving supplies, and the area is very well maintained. The reps are located along the back wall, and were waiting there to help clients. I walked up to a window, and they pulled up my reservation and had me checked out within a few minutes. They gave me the key and contract and then I headed out to pick up the truck. I had to wait a minute or two for them to move it out, but overall things went smoothly.NOTE: I had a VERY early reservation: 7am pick up for a day-long move. It might be a bit more hectic later in the day, so I'd recommend getting there early.

This is a terrible company, but it's even worse in NYC. I remember when they had the "rent this truck for $19.99" signs on the trucks. By the time you got out of there the final cost was closer to $80 than to $20. It was a bald face lie and it's how they conduct business. I rented a truck in the mid west to drop off here and that truck had the gears grinding for a good 100 miles. After hours of calling the main line and then looking up local places, who would just say, "Don't bring it here!" like I was offering them a cold glass of Leprosy. Finally we stopped in at one we found on the way without calling and they gave us a truck without the gear problems. The first one wouldn't go in reverse. I can't imagine driving a truck without reverse in NYC. Then after 4 hours in the sun changing over we inquired about a discount for our trouble but I don't even have to tell you the answer to that. They did offer us an extra day on the rental for no fee. Of course when we arrived in NYC and dropped it off somehow that no fee was changed to significant fee. So, anyone who recommends this company and especially this location is either working for them or has just been very very lucky. BTW, there's a truck rental company on 25th Street that is trustworthy. They'll quote you a higher price but it's the price you'll pay. That's how you should run a business. I live in Chelsea and will never rent Uhaul again.Oh and before I found the other company, I was in this location and I could swear that the Uhaul rep was going to attack this foreign guy who wasn't putting up with the nonsense. He kept saying, I'm the customer, is this how you treat the customer? I was actually worried I was going to see bloodshed. Avoid.

I really have no good reason NOT to give this place 5 stars, but it seems a bit enthusiastic.I needed to pick up a bed from Brooklyn and move it to Manhattan. Movers would have cost a shitload of money, so I rented a pickup truck - 4 hours for $20. Cool. The truck was ready when I got there, everyone was friendly and helpful, nothing bad happened, we moved the bed without a problem, got it back on time and with the right amount of gas, and poof! We were done. The whole thing cost me less than $80 with gas. It was WAY cheaper than movers, and actually kind of fun! I read the yelp reviews the night before going to this place and have to say I was a bit scared. But no one cheated me out of my money or anything like that, so I'd definitely use this again if I had to!

Michael was wondeful checking me in.... after reservations screwed up the reservation and customer service hung up on me... They all of a sudden found a truck when I told them I had hired 2 people to help me, but that it had to be back by 8 a.m. living 20 miles away and not having anybody else to pick me up or follow me there to take the truck back. I call and ask Derek.....telling him that I was driving from 20 miles away and would someone be there a few minutes after 8 o'clock to get my refund. He says no problem someone will be there. I show up at 8:08 and he said he waited 5 minutes... So you have the doors locked, but you still have a truck door that was open out in the parking lot??? Really??? So he wasn't finished he was just an a******. So guess what I have to drive another 40 miles to go pick up my refund because I paid cash!!! what a bunch of BS.

They were friendly enough, got me in and out really quickly. That turned out to be a problem. I didn't check the level of the gas on the contract against what was actually in the tank before I left. When I returned the truck I had filled it to the amount that was actually in it when I picked it up. The paperwork I signed showed that it was full when I picked it up. I'll admit, I shouldn't have trusted UHaul and checked the levels before I left. You guys got me, but I won't be coming back.

2 Time Loser! This location is terrible about communicating with their customers! We had a hitch put on a passenger car in March 2013. We made the initial appointment, drove to the location and they canceled but didn't bother to call. Irritating, but I gave them a second chance. Before the second trip, I called in advance to be told that the installer's wife was in childbirth. I'm not a jerk, so I let it go, at least this time, I didn't waste the gas to the location. The third time, we got the hitch installed and they were even good enough to discount some of the labor as a peace offering. Fast forward 2 months and we wanted to get a hitch mounted to a SUV. My wife meticulously called and got all the pricing and made the appointment. This time, she showed up and they gave her much higher prices. It felt like a bait and switch. At first it was communication, now I doubt their word. We won't be back!

Its going on 5 days. Everyone promises to help and call you whether its in or not to save you the trouble of driving. Never got a single phone call. I have used UHaul at several sites in the last few years. I used Lonnie and his staff about 3 1/2 years ago. Their storage units we rented for a few months and the service were great! The rental trucks which we used around town were all in good order. The trailer hitch we bought from him and had installed on our car has also worked well. The lady who installed it did a good job explaining the product. Although we are fairly well pleased with other UHaul sites in Oklahoma County which are now closer to where I live, I'll be choosing him and his crew for my next moving need which will be coming up shortly.

Don't buy propane here. Didn't reset the meter when he started filling and was charged for 17.7 gallons for 2 - 40 lb. bottles. Complained and dropped it back to 14.3 gallons. Had 4.1 on the meter when he started, guess they can't do the math.

I have rented here before. What I requested was not what they entered on my agreement. Their mistake tripled my bill. I believe they techinally do this to gouge people. It is legal on paper but this is down right unethical. Looks like a scam. Read the reviews before you rent. Check return date on paper. Use budget or crosslands for trailers. Doubled my bill. I had the truck for 1.5 hrs, they charged me for 2 days. Took lots of phone calls, was transferred over 10 times and hung up on 3 times. Everyone said it was normal to charge so much and I couldnt do anything about it until I got to the last person I talked to. They dont understand their systems, and will admit it. When you call the store, you almost never actually get to talk to someone at the store, and get sent off to a uhaul call center, so all they can do is email the store. Would highly recommend getting a uhaul from another site in OKC or edmond.

They charge $75 monthlyto be on the 2nd floor. they charge extra to be on the ground floor, and have no elevators. They charge extra to be able to access your things after dark. They tack on $15 of charges for being a week late on your payment after they fail to contact you till your already a week late because for some reason the automatic with drawl was denied. They continually harassed me with phone calls to make a payment over the phone and I had to tell them several times that I was out of town on a job and I would take care of it in person when I got back, to which they replied "there is no note here saying we contacted you" so then the next day I got another email of a lien notice and another $15 of late charges added on. EVERYONE ELSE AROUND HERE CHARGES $50 monthly for 24 hour access. I WILL BE MOVING MY THINGS OUT OF HERE AS SOON AS I GET A CHANCE!! Also every time I come here there is only 1 person who can actually answer any of my questions, all the others act like they have no idea what they are doing.

Customer service is fantastic here. I have rented from them in the past and everything went well. Recently I had to go to four different places to buy some boxes. The first place wasn't really a U-haul place though they had U-haul boxes for twice the regular price. They sent me to Home Depot, which had okay boxes, but not everything I needed, and no file boxes. So I came here The guy was unbelievably helpful with all kinds of information. He had unfortunately just sold the last three file boxes, but he gave me exact directions to the place on lower Greenville (which I advise avoiding like the plague) and made sure they had plenty before I left. He was super!

The WORSE EVER! They scheduled my pick up at 8:30 AM when they didn't even open until 9:00. So we stand out in the cold, along with 10 other customers until 9:25 AM when a "dude" wearing sunglasses, disheveled pony tale and a long mustache finally arrives without one apology. We are first. BUT, without explanation or regret the Dude says we do not have your truck. You need to go to Richardson!! Horrible.

I paid for some boxes with my credit card. Later, I couldn't find my credit card and this U-Haul store is the last place I used it. So I called to see if, by any chance, I had left it there. I was told that someone from that store would call me back. Nobody ever did. A week later I still hadn't found my credit card so I stopped at my bank to see if any aberrant charges were on my card. There was one. It was at this U-Haul store the day AFTER I had been there. The charge for the day that i was there was there, too, so it was not a case of them delaying running the purchase through the system. The amount was only $9.20 but still, it shouldn't be there. I called the store again. Once again, I was told they were too busy to talk to me but that someone would call me back later. I doubt it, but we will see. Previously, I had always considered U-Haul a reliable company. Addendum: They never called back the second time, either. Anybody want to go for three?

*this is more so for the call center that you have to deal with rather than the location* We used U box from another location which worked for us, but beware! Be prepared for them getting your order wrong and having to call back and confirm then they'll get it wrong again, then you'll confirm and .. hopefully it'll finally be right! So funny, I really thought these reviews were exaggerating or it'd be a one in a million chance that i'd experience the same thing but oh no! Very poorly run! We'd make a reservation with someone then we'd get a confirmation email for a completely different location or time! We're moving we don't have time for this back and forth! This has happened at least 3 times! wow, can't believe this! Seems like call centers and locations have different information, not communicating with each other!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. For 3 weeks I called them and got forwarded to the main call center where my only option was to leave a message. NO CALL BACK. Ended up having to pay an extra month. I just now called and got their answering service again and was placed on hold after explaining my whole story (so it could be escalated). I called from another line and finally got a person at the site. I asked if they could have my ubox ready the next morning and was told - "The best I could do is leave a note for the morning guy. If he has time, he will get your box ready". Even after I explained what I had gone through, she simply re-iterated, as if I was completely inconveniencing her, "I said, all I can do is leave a note. It is up to them if they want to do it". UNBELIEVABLE. After the call, I checked my other line (the call center). I was still on hold!!! I left it on speaker to see if she would ever come back. The rep left me on hold for about five more minutes, came back on and hung up. All one can do is laugh. UNBELIEVABLE

Poorly maintained facility with lots of hidden charges. This uhaul storage is located in a burglary prone area. check out the Dallas area crime map. The facility is not maintained at all. there are garbage thrown everywhere. the whole place stinks. if you are trying to rent a small storage like 5x5x5 or 5x5x10 you will have to go to the upper floors. The elevator never works, and the manage James Manak shows no interest in getting it fixed. So be prepared to carry your heavy stuff through the stairs. The ceiling has cracks everywhere and water seeps through it making dark stains. Be prepared for a lot of hidden costs. The manager will make you buy his lock even if you have another uhaul lock. On top of t he will force you to get insurance. Once you pay for the month, there is no refund or the prorated charge for the part of the month you didn't use the storage. My advice would be to avoid this location altogether.

I think their scamming customers with fuel. I checked out truck with a little less than 1/2 tank. They said was half. Not a biggy! I drove it 38 miles and added $15.00 in fuel. That was almost 7 gals. Their gas guage in truck was all over the place. When I put the fuel in, I took a picture of the guage and the mileage. When I dropped off and parked it, it said I had 1/4. I explained the issue with the guage and he said that the fuel must only be read at his place in the same spot. So, he charged me a additional $21.00 for not adding enough fuel. So...I paid $36.00 to drive 38 miles. Not Happy!

Jose (the manager) told me that he couldn't honor my reservation without charging me more money (requiring that I purchase the most expensive insurance) because he wouldn't make enough money on the transaction - I'm not kidding. He actually said that regardless of the price that I reserved a truck for that he won't rent it to me unless he charged me more! Do not go to this location - blatant scam!

Upon finishing my paperwork the representative asked if I knew how to hook up the Uhaul trailer. When I told her I didn't know how to hook up a trailer to the truck she said "uh oh, how will you take the trailer?" like it was all my responsibility. I think it's ridiculous that a person working at a Uhaul dealer didn't know how to hook up a trailer! I had to ask my husband to drive all the way across Dallas from Plano during rush hour just to hook it up. I felt absolutely stranded and the representative didn't help AT ALL. What an absolute waste, I totally regretted renting the Uhaul from this location and will NEVER GO BACK. You'll get poor customer service if you visit this place. There are plenty of other great Uhaul dealers I've visited in Dallas, not worth wasting your time with this one...

Best Ever! You must come here and use this U-Haul. I made my way there today even though it was far. I am SO GLAD I did! I needed to have a hitch installed on my new Civic. It required much more work than I thought. Justin was unbelievable! He did EVERYTHING to ensure I have the complete satisfaction. He even helped me to install my bike rack after having to go through lengthy process with the Civic hitch. We then found out my original bike rack doesn't fit the new hitch any more. He went ABOVE and BEYOND to help me fix the problem. He tried multiple times to get my bike rack installed stably. He drilled bigger holes to accommodate a bigger bolt. I can't say enough to thank him. I also want to thank Jose for helping. What a place! You must check this place out! The staff are so friendly and helpful!

I highly recommend this location for Uhaul renting. The reason.... Their work hour is very convenient for the renter and they have a very large space and many trucks. So you don't need to worry about the issue that you have to rent bigger or more expensive truck because of limited number of trucks. The staffs are very polite, patient, professional and friendly. I still remember the nice work of two young men whose name are Richard and Robert. They answered all of my questions patiently and clearly even though I just rent a Uhaul to move a large size bed. They waited for me to check the condition of truck before we drive it away and even reminded me to do it carefully. The truck is clean and I don't need to worry cockroach issue which I heard happening some place else. Moving is a big project and already very stressful. If you used to be a good organizer and planner and don't want any unexpected trouble, I highly recommend you go to this place for a quality and efficient moving. I usually read Google review before making a decision. So I would like share places with good service with people having same needs. Good Luck.

Bad place to get propane the person that is in the front desk always has a mad face this is the 3rd time I go to try and get gas and they always say there is no one to fill the tank up. After the manager input all my information in the system he asked did I want to use the uhaul until 4pm?I told him yes ! Then the manager told me I needed a $150 deposit to use the truck. So I left and got a cash deposit for the uhaul. I came back and he told me somebody reserved the truck I had rented and I needed to have it back by 2pm . He asked did I want to be switched to a bigger size and he would charge me the same price for the one I reserved. But I told him no because I wouldn't know how to drive a bigger truck. I was annoyed by the fact he told me I could use the uhaul until 4pm then he changed it.I felt rushed! I brought the truck back to his location on a full tank of gas . He gave me my deposit back minus $64 ??? I called this location several times and I have left messages asking why was I charged $16 for mileage? I was told i went 19 miles over which is incorrect. I Do not recommend this location to anyone I felt scamed !

I showed up on a Sunday to rent a truck for 4 hours. I was told to return the truck with the same amount of gas that was in it when I picked it up. I did just that, actually in 3 and a half hours and was still charged $20 for a refueling fee. I called to question the charge and explained that I put the needle EXACTLY where it was when I originally got in the truck, even making 3 trips from the pump to the cab to check where it was and the MANAGER said, "No, it was short." The diagram of the fuel gauge on the paperwork does not match the actual fuel gauge in the car which is where the scam comes in to play. They round to the nearest 1/16 of the tank on the paperwork but the actual gauge only has 1/4 and 1/8 markers. I called the national U-haul line, complained and they refunded my money. I have not talked to a single person that has 1 good thing to say about U-haul. Do not give this company your money.

Never again will I do a night drop at this place! Rented my truck from NW Hwy, which didn't inform them my truck wasn't full when we picked it up. I went 27 miles over on the allowed mileage and knew that before dropping the truck off around 10pm. At drop off the truck was 7/8 full, but the next customer said it was 3/4 full so they sent an email saying I owed $92.68. Long story short, I paid $62.68 after letting the manger know I was not happy with their service and will never do another night drop again.

The folks here were friendly and mostly helpful. For my long distance one-way trip, they weren't extremely suggestive, so I'm glad I did my own homework, but overall they got me on my way with what I needed. They did switch trucks after I'd mentioned a U-Haul I'd rented in San Diego a decade back lost its brakes going down a hill... but that could have been coincidence. They also asked if I had any wood to help get my car on the auto transport... um, no (they found some). But overall they were very nice and accommodating, and I had a very good long trip with no issues. Oh, one suggestion... if they could provide a note on how the high beams work would be cool. I got high-beamed quite a few times, and although I could turn on the ultra-high beams, I had no idea how to turn off the normal high beam (I thought the normal lights might have just been too high and appeared to be high beams). Other than that, the truck and auto transport became the least of my worries. Also, one of the tire straps came off about halfway through the trip, but I got in on better than it was... Checking them at "every" stop is a really good tip. :) Edit: My trip was in October 2015. I reserved online a month in advance, called and downgraded from 17' to 15' a week later, then showed up a week in advance to get car inspected for its auto transport viability. The morning I picked up my 15' and auto transport, their systems were down. No worries! Fortunately I had already confirmed and updated everything on their system the week prior during the inspection. So they were able to get me on my way even with their computers being down. It was a very good start to a very long solo trip.

So my experience with U-Haul has so far been a love hate relationship. I made my reservation for a one way, out of state truck and auto transport more than a month in advance. I get a call from the first location I made a reservation at confirming my reservation for a 15' truck and auto transport, one week in advance, I told them yes I still need it and everything is great. Come the next week, the week of my move, I get a call from a location on the other side of Dallas (ferguson road location) saying they wanted to confirm my reservation for a 10' truck and auto transport. I didn't understand what was going on. I told the guy on the phone that I never wanted a 10' truck and asked him what my reservation said, to which he replied it was a 10' truck reservation without an auto transport. This was not going to work. I told him it needed to change, he said he would take care of it and give me a call back. I waited till the next day, he never called back. After calling and trying to sort things out and get my original 15' truck back (I had three confirmation emails, confirming it was in fact a 15' truck and auto transport I reserved) all I got was arguing and static from these guys. After about 15 minutes of arguing the best I could get out of them was a 15' truck and auto transport in Garland on Shiloh road, even farther from my house. I was not very happy. I gave a call to the U-Haul on North Dallas pkwy and Ann was able to help me out no problem! She gave me 17' truck (because there were no 15' trucks left) at the price of a 10' truck! As I said my overall experience with U-Haul was crap until I called this location and got Ann's help, these guys are FIVE STAR customer service experts!

I have used this Uhaul for the last 7 years! I have moved several times and needed their service over those times including truck rentals and storage. I have recommended this paticular location to several friends because of the customer service, convinience, and pricing. However-this last experience has left me shaking my head!!! They charged us almost $400 for two units for 2 weeks worth of use! In the past-they have prorated the units for us. This time, they charged us even though we were going to be out in a week. That's okay, I will keep one thing in each unit for the entirety of the month then. I refuse to turn over the unit so they can charge someone else and get double paid for it. Or the so called free month-hum, wonder how they do that-perhaps they use units that were paid for and ony used for one week? I asked for Stacey-the Manager-to call me. Did I hear from him? NO!! I wont be going here any more! Nor will i recommend them! Customer service is the number one reason I go to a place of business! There are way too any other places to chose from. Like the one on Los Rios! Much better.

My experience was the worst day of my life....On 02032016 my son picked up a uhaul for his move he was suppose to return it on Monday at 9:00am...so we spoke to uhaul and extended the rental...So on Saturday I went and paid for the additional days..And extended the rental until Wednesday or Thursday...On Wednesday the noisy neighbor call uhaul and reported it as abandoned....Uhaul did not call us privacy anything the just came and pickup the truck...So I called uhaul and the kept transferring seem like around the world and back..From Custer service to recovery and back...I ask uhaul why did you not contact me the truck was in front of my house that's on the contract..I came in made my payment and told you I would pay for the additional days...Then the rude manager called and said that I need to come and get my belongings out of the truck then they charged my account additional charges..that was not agreed to and said that can charge the. card on file without permission...I was so made at them for charging me without my permission...And then they claimed that they did not know what happened to my deposit that was paid in cash...I will never use them again...If anyone is thinking about using the uhaul on 635 and garland road I would advise don't used them or pay your bill in cash don't give them a credit card they will put charges that you did not agree to.

I also incurred 3 overdraft fees bc of it and was refused refund of that as well. Horrible never use this company. my parents have always used uhaul so like a fool i did too. My stuff has been in storage here for almost 3 years!! We paid 30 dollars too have the date moved to our pay date, while he was switching it he suggested that we move to auto pay ,since my mother in law was having a double mastectomy in the hospital, one less thing to worry about or so we thought. The auto pay never got set up that was their error and we didn't realize it for two months since we were in the hospital And the surgery turned into 4. There were late fees that they tacked on.i was willing to pay the months i was behind. After calling the store i was told my stuff was up for auction and i needed to pay something on it i drive an hour to get there only to be told they don't take partial payments. I was given the manager number and told he could resolve the issue. Never had a returned phone call. Called customer service over 8 hours on the phone. 8 hours of being hung up on, placed on hold, hung up again and again. Finally I was transferred to a manager who laughed in my face and placed me on hold for over an hour.i picked up a second phone while on hold n called again I'm on two phones the manager hung up After leaving me on hold for 2 hours writing that our problem was solved and we were happy. Bold face lie. I ended up paying 530 dollars just to keep my stuff. The manager never called back, everyone is rude! I was told i was 3 months behind when my due date was a week away. They lied about their name so when you talk to someone and say the name i looked like a damn fool, when i finally got to the actual store, i was forced to pay 3 mos at once while they promised a manager would call on Monday. I'm still waiting for his call after a month. I've been a loyal customer even paying extra to make sure I'm on time. The company made an error i was willing to pay what i owed but i am not willing to pay for their mistake or their managers failure to contact me then lying and saying he did. NEVER EVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY EVER. I'M REMOVING MY STUFF AND NEVER AGAIN USING THIS SAD EXCUSE FOR A COMPANY.

Yes, I agree the staff was always great. I didn't have any problems with my storage unit in the time that I had it...for about 6-7 years up until last or this month, whenever it's contents are due to be auctioned off. I reached the point on numerous occasions where I couldn't pay and they really try to give you ample time and opportunity to pay before they're forced to auction your unit...adding additional late fees to your bill, but that's to be expected with anything. In the end that's what happened, I just could not maintain the payment, but had my rental rates not been raised annually from $69.95 per month in 2009 to $114.95 by 2015, not including insurance, perhaps it would not have been so difficult to maintain. Overall, however, I'd have no problem recommending the Mesquite U-Haul location to both rent trucks or any storage unit.

I won't rate this U-haul too low because it is in a good place, and the company has been very well priced compared to their competitors. We were given 1,5000 miles and six days, at $251 for a 17ft truck, plus $101 for a car trailer ($351 total) which was great! The only downside was the man working, who I believe to be the manager, he was demeaning to an employee who was working very well, and quickly. When it came time to pay for extra miles that we used, the manager immediately took a call from a friend and did not speak to me until after he charged the wrong card, causing quite the headache to deal with. I highly recommend U-haul, but if you are using this location, make sure you are on top of everything you need.

I brought a Jet Ski Trailer to have the lights fixed, they half asses fix the problem, told me the rest of the problem was in my jet ski trailer wiring . . . only to find out the problem was the part they replaced was defective. NEVER GET YOUR TIRES REPLACED HERE!!! This was the worst experience I've ever had when doing anything with my car. It started with me just getting a yearly car inspection and turned into me needing two new tires because they were worn out. So I got two new tires from this place since they said they compare rates I assumed they had a good price for them. Boy was I wrong. Wal-mart and many other places had the same tires for 40 dollars cheaper each! I was already upset when I found this out, but I didn't say anything because it was my mistake. Then when I went to pick up my car THEY PUT THE WRONG BRAND OF TIRES ON MY CAR! I was so mad at this point that I went up to Wal mart and got 2 new tires to replace the ones I got from this dealer. When I picked up my car from Wal-mart THEY TOLD ME MY TIRES WERE PUT ON BACKWARDS!!! At this point I'm ticked off and to top it all off when I went to return my tires they still charged me for the 2 mounts and balances which came to $33.85 even though they put the tires on wrong...like I said... NEVER GO HERE FOR TIRES!

This has got to be a group of the most unprofessional people I've ever seen. I talk to the customer rep about a trailer wiring kit and they tell me no problem come in. I show up and get told it will be two weeks before they can help me and I'm better off going to GM. I call customer service and talk to 3 different people before I can talk to anyone at the store. I have to drive all the way back (10 miles) and get told its just fuses. I change the fuses and it still didn't work. I rented a pickup to move stuff. The rental was easy and the vehicle was clean and in good working order. BEWARE THOUGH- you must pay per mile. I did not check the mileage on the paperwork- it was 5 miles less than the actual mileage in the car- I got stuck paying the extra mileage that I did not drive. Granted it was only $3- but for those of you who need to watch every penny- be sure the paperwork is in order before you leave the lot. I will only go back here if I have no other choice.

Due to some confusion when initially renting the storage pods, the owner, in order to keep my business, told me he would only charge me for the the 2- Pods, and only one day of trailer rental for a total bill of around $150, after return, he billed me for $253, when I called him to inquire about the discount, his statement was simply "I guess we live and learn"! I can halfway uderstand poor customer service, but an outright con job is too much! You need storage bins? Go to PODs, run away from UHaul!

Having a reservation means literally nothing to them. They also will not honor the $50 rental guarantee that is advertised on U-Hauls website. They're also not sorry about those above two, and it's absolutely infuriating.

I move a lot. 7 states in the last 8 years for a total of 10 moves. I use Uhaul every single time, and I feel like with my frequency of moving I'm legitimate in this review. This is the WORST Uhaul store I have EVER been too!! One person works this location at a time. ONE. I got to the store, and there were 7 people in front of me. Each one needed to be hooked-up, etc. All by this ONE person!! I was there so long, it was unreal. They need chairs and a TV for a waiting room and a system to call your number when your number is up. They are VERY nice, and I would give the staff a 100%. They just need more!!

This U-Haul place is determined to run itself out of business. I had already called 2 other sites in the area, and wanting to get a 3rd set of price quotes, I decided to call U=Haul at Rockwell anyway, even though I had already seen the other bad reviews. The first thing she wanted to know was for how long and what would I be storing there. What?? Seriously?? I replied that it was open-ended and whatever I could fit in there. She still insisted on asking me again what I'd be storing. I hung up on her. I've rented units 3,4 times in the past, and had even just talked to two other sites the same afternoon and I've never had to apprise them of my affairs. I don't take kindly to interrogation attempts, so if they don't want my business, I'll happily take it elsewhere. Guess what, U-Haul? Security Self-Storage, even though it's further, is getting my business, the $$$ that you could have picked up for yourself.

If I could have given this place a negative 5 star review then I would. This is hands down the worst U-Haul facility in the city if not even the state. The person working the counter is one of the rudest individuals that I have ever encountered in a place of business. They lost my reservation and then proceeded to talk to me as if I was a child. If you don't believe me then go see for yourself. Save yourself the time and stress and FIND A DIFFERENT LOCATION. I hope this helps.

We rented a car hauler in Arkansas and we specified the norman location as the drop off. Afterwards we decided that we needed to drop the jeep off in northwest OKC so we asked if it would be okay. The sales rep informed us that there could be a fee so we said thank you and hung up. Afterwards u-haul called us to let us know they were going to change our drop off point for us and asked where we would be. They did this without us asking them to. I found this to be very helpful and surprising that they decided to help us out. Thank you u-haul! 5+ stars for customer service!

My daughter rented a trailer from U-Haul. She was going to pick it up in Norman. Tow it to Dallas, then turn around and drive it back in one day. They decided to pick up the trailer in Dallas, thinking it would save money going one way. She called and said it would be no problem and that it should be the same price. NOT !! They didn't tell her until she was back that the price almost was doubled. Called corporate and they said they would take care of the problem. NOT !! Told her if she didn't get it back by 5:00 she would pay another day and she still had to pay the doubled price. They knew what she was fixing to do by going the one-way route and they still scammed her. U-Haul is just a big MAFIA scam artist company. What a shame they are even allowed to stay open.

Experience was a disaster! The person who checked the truck checked it in late and got the equipment returns wrong resulting in a huge surcharge. The general manager said she refunded me the extra charges but instead showed up on my credit card as another charge. Very unsatisfied and would not recommend.

I rented a truck from them last week. I was quoted a price after I explained exactly what I was going to do with it. I was told to return it to the same facility before 7pm. I returned it at 5 and then they realized that they had quoted me for a one-way rental and that since I returned it to the same store they would charge me $10 extra. Then they also charged me a rate per mile that was twice as much as was quoted. Well, I wasn't happy and they didn't seem like they cared. I was exhausted and didn't put up much of a fight, swiped my card and left. I've had way way better experiences with other companies. Would not go here again!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I was desperately looking for someone to install a hitch on my car. I was told by the employee on the phone that if i got the hitch at another U-Haul location they could install it because they didn't have the part on inventory. Right when i pulled up they called me to say that they can't do it anymore because the hitch was not purchased at their store. The employee was not aware of this "new" policy after he told me he could do it. He then called his manager who told him they can't do it. Why would you tell me one thing without verifying it and cancel on my when I'm right in front of you? The manager and employee just wanted to make money off the hitch purchase and the installation because other U-haul stores were willing to install the hitch as long as it was purchased at a U-haul location. Lying and not taking responsibility for the information they share with customers. A sorry will not take away what you did and told me because you wasted my time when I could have gone to someone with integrity. The one star is because I have to give something otherwise it'll be no stars. Bottom line, there's a lack of training when it comes to the employees and the manager is not concerned by the customers' satisfaction. Your employee cleary messed up by sharing wrong information and as a manager you should hold him accountable for this misinformation and accomodate the customer.

The young man made a nice effort to accommodate my needs closer to my moving location although the 4 x 8 was not available at this location (I walked in without reservation so my bad) Did have a reservation at 160 Layton and 4 x 8 was ready and trailer worked nicely.....safely. The young man at the Layton location was also very accommodating and helpful in hooking up the trailer I had reserved. This was my second move with U-Haul. I am quite satisfied with the service.

If you had a bad experience you are likely a jerk, i was in and out in 10 min, smooth as silk. The staff was polite and covered insurance, breakdown etc. I would use them again no problem.

Like another reviewer I decided to give this location the benefit of the doubt because it was so close to my new apartment. I too was proven wrong. They gave me the truck with half a tank of gas and told me to fill it up exactly halfway or be charged for them to fill it ($5.00 per gallon plus an additional $30 service fee). I complied and filled it exactly halfway. I dropped the truck off after hours and in the morning received an email stating that the tank was returned only 1/8th full so I was charged over $80 for them to fill it. Luckily I had gotten the feeling that they might screw me over and had taken a picture of the dashboard when I dropped it off showing the final mileage on the truck and the gas tank, exactly half full, just to the right of it. After calling to complain AND going back to the office to show them the picture I had taken they finally reversed the charges with the excuse that they probably "read the gauge backwards." I asked them to explain what that meant (last time I checked half a tank is half a tank no matter how you look at it) and was told "well, sometimes the full side and the empty side are reversed on the gauge." I think that speaks to the competency of staff this location.

If you're looking for service this is not the location!! Horrible service including their awful communication via phone. This place will be a worst nightmare type experience if you don't avoid it!! This all came about when I simply wanted to buy a replacement hitch for my grandparents town car(the whole receiver assembly). I ordered a replacement through this location, I was given a conformation number and waited a week for it to come in...never did, called several times being promised my information was forwarded to management and that I would get a call pertaining to my order, never did!! Went on to u-haul's web page, ordered a hitch, received it three days later. Now I wrote this review and will not attempt to use this location again and therefore will not recommend it.

Rented a trailer here (helping a friend move). They were VERY kind and helpful. I saw someone next to us arguing - and it looked bad. But, I also listened to that customer's tone and words, and it was really disrespectful. Like any business, if you approach the service people with respect, they'll return it. Maybe the other posters who have given this a low rating haven't learned that yet. :)

they were high pressure washing the walls and it got into my unit damaging my boom box and the insurance they provided would not do anything to fix cover the damages, I quit the insurance and I specifically got told it would not charge me anymore for the insurance yet it still did and that went on for two months finally when it ended they could not refund my payments unless I had a 3 way call going on with my bank and them. Needless to say I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NO ONE DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!!

Reserved online, showed up to get the truck and surprise surprise, they had it ready!! I returned with the same amount of gas they told me to (they were very clear about that). I didn't damage the car and they didn't report any mysterious damage. Drop off was a breeze, even though they were closed they said to park in the marked line behind the other trucks and put the keys in the front slot box. My only complaint is that parking is confusing if you do not get dropped off and have to leave your car there while you use your truck. You have to park behind some warehouse that doesn't even seem like it's U Hauls property. (It's behind a large antenna). The area is not a nice area and to pick up my car at 9pm when it's dark out in some sketch parking lot sounds like a recipe for a car jacking. I didn't have any issues but they seriously need to fix that. Otherwise I had a positive experience.

I had reserved a 26' Uhaul and they called and said the people before me refused to return it on time, so instead the only truck they were able to give me was a 10' Uhaul and a 6'x12' pull behind van trailer.. I was told the only 26' Uhaul available was over 90 miles away. The 10' truck and the trailer was half the total cubic footage of the 26' Uhaul. I had to pick up the 10' truck in Pewaukee which was 45 minutes away from my place and had to pick up the trailer at a different location. Every person in line had a problem with their reservation and I didn't see a single happy face. The 26' would of been $150, I ended up paying $200 for the 10' truck and the van trailer. We filled up both the truck and the trailer and didn't have nearly enough room to move all of our stuff. We couldn't take multiple trips as our move out date was the 31st and we couldn't move in until noon on the 1st. I had to call and try to find another 6'x12' trailer to pull behind my truck which cost me another $98 and had to pick it up at a third location 20 minutes away. I talked to a manager at this location and wanted a discount because I had to pay $150 dollars more than I was supposed to and wasted over 3 hours of the move out day driving around to pick up all the different trucks and trailers, he refused to give me a discount. When drop off time came I was scheduled to drop off the 10' truck and trailer at one location and the other trailer at a second location 30 minutes away from each other. The Uhaul rep scheduled me at a drop off location that didn't exist yet… the gas station clerk said they were in the works of constructing it and didn't know why they were in the system. I had to call Uhaul back and was able to get me the same drop off location near Brookfield for the truck and trailers after a 20-30 minute wait on hold. This location was a lot nicer and better than the other three locations I had to drive too… it probably seemed nicer because I didn't have to go inside and wait in line. The drop off was the best the part of the whole ordeal because I was finally done with Uhaul… Let's just say I will not be using Uhaul again. Expect to be disappointed every time, I've never had a smooth move with them.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Employees are lazy and rude. Employee told me there were no trucks available for a future date, and refused to call or check other locations for availability. Furthermore, I was quite literally SHAMED for the sin of wanting a moving truck on **GASP** the FIRST OF THE MONTH. I was reminded of this fact at least 3 times, to the point where it seemed like she was annoyed that I wanted a truck on a busy day. Never again, do not go here unless you want to be talked down to and have your time wasted. Employees name was CARMEN.

I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life. Ive waited for over a week for someone to get back to me on a refund. I actually had to pay to take their truck to a shop to get it fixed and one of the customer service reps told me and I quote "you won't get any money back we'll give you 50$ in gift certificates and thats all." dont use this company

Hitch installed in reasonable time. Guy up front took time to answer all questions. Vehicle was ready for pick-up the next day on time. Trailer was not fully cleaned at pick up but overall I'm keeping it at 5 stars.

Terrible experience. They have shady business practices!! I was told by a chick name Aaron that my late fee would be waived if I signed up for auto pay. She promised my card wouldn't be charged until Monday when the manager Brad was around to waive the late fee. Well she charged my card the same or the next day! I was LIVID!!! When I contacted Brad that Monday he totally understood why I was angry and said he would put the difference back on my debit card. He never did it, so I had to follow up with him. I got the run around! Later I was told to contact Ross Brooks because he was the only one how had the authority to remove the admin fee on my account. Ross was rude and very unprofessional. As if I was bothering him with my concern. If you have problems with this location I advise you to contact the BBB, FTC, and the state department of consumer protection!

I wish I had done some research on this location before I went there, because you would think this place (U-Haul) has a monopoly on this particular industry. I always thought of U-Haul as being a industry leader, but now I see they could care less about customer service, and the biggest clown of all is the manager steve eberhardy...he is a thief, prick, and a butt wipe. The reason he gets away with whatever he wants to, is because his boss mike schneider allows such conduct!!! My next step is to go to the better business bureau and make them aware of the crap going on at this location. If you have any sense...stay as far away from this place as possible, and prayerfully one day the corporate offices will get somebody in charge that will get rid of these clowns, and put somebody in charge that knows the true meaning of excellent customer service and loyalty to their place of employment. U-Haul has become a JOKE!!!

This place is great if you want a truck with no brakes and that won't start. Also don't miss out on waiting 3 hours on the road until they can have someone come and tow there truck. In addition they will barely comp you for the horrible experience due to their negligence. Buy a horse instead you will have to deal with less crap.

Great price on propane. Got 2 bottle filled. Tell them to fill by wieght. 100lb bottles dont have OPD valves. 23.6 gallons is correct for a 100lb bottle. They put 60.3 gallons in my 2 100lb bottles. I thought great extra propane until I put them in garage and they started leaking propane because it was expanding. Had to open up both bottles and let a few pounds out to keep them from contstantly leaking into the garage. That was an explosion waiting to happen. Glad we smelled it before turning on the heater or my wife went out to smoke. I didn't have to wait to get my bottles filled but I also had no clue until this incident about overfilling botrtles like they did. The guy said they can go by weight but he does it the lazy way and waits until the machine cuts off - dangerous on 100lb bottles not so much with bottles equipped with the OPD balves like the 20lb bottles.

Terrible experience once again James is working at the desk there are 5 or 6 people behind counter all laughing joking playing with there cell phones i am in the parking lot waiting to check in a piece of equipment. I always call and let them know i am in the lot awaiting the trailer to be checked in typically they answer the phone and say they will send someone out I called 9 times caller ID shows who it is they let it go to voice mail and not answer the phone 9 times the 9th time I walk in the phone is ringing so i know they can hear the phone James says "you gots to come in" "You gots to come in" "you gots to come in". Come on lets speak proper english when someone came out they didn't properly check it in by having me show that the lights work on the trailer or by checking the stickers on the side. Erica when are you going to quit making excuses for James and when do you think anyone will learn over at that location that you are there for the customer I am not there for you.

While the equipment was clean and in good shape, the owner was a complete nob. While driving there to return my rental truck in a heavy rain I called the store to let him know I would be a couple minutes later than the time due back. He stated he would charge me for another day because no one would be there to check me in. Needless to say, I hurried through the southside of Milwaukee in a biblical rain to return his precious van on time, but I was about 4 minutes late upon pulling. I felt reassured though when I saw the owner still standing inside behind the counter. We made eye contact, I parked his van right in front of the glass windows, I quickly grabbed my personal belongings and proceeded to go inside to check in. But of course the door was locked. I knocked. The owner looked up, then pointed at his watch and shook his head. What a prick and what a way to make a few extra bucks. Little does he know I will never visit his uhaul again and that I badmouth his location every chance I get.

As if moving wasn't already stressful, my experience with this U-Haul helped me decide to use another company next time. My reservation was at the wrong location, and the truck's battery died while I was unloading my stuff. I had the interior light on for less than the recommended time according to the U-Haul instruction guide, but the battery still died. Neither the local store or the U-Haul corporation would do anything to help me... except charge $200 to send a mechanic out to jump start the truck. I finally called AAA, they jumped the truck & gave me a list of all the mechanical problems with it which I left with my keys in the drop box. When I called the store next day, the owner told me there was nothing wrong with the truck, I shouldn't have used the interior light (why's it there then?) and he'd do me a real favor and not charge me for leaving the gas tank less than full (AAA told me that if I turned off the vehicle it might not start again). I don't recommend this place to ANYONE!

All I could get was I cannot confirm if the truck will be available for you. I even tried to say that I would be in the very next day so tomorrow Oct 15 to secure the truck. Still told cannot confirm the truck will be available for me. The rep on the phone at the fairway location after me voicing my displeasure could only stay silent on the phone with me to the point I assumed she hung up. Great Job U-Hall. Richard

Was a return customer, I rented a truck here a few months ago, ordered a dolly. Upon opening the truck there was no dolly, when I returned the truck after hours I didn't know where to put the keys so I left it in the glove compartment. When I came back the next day the one guy there was having a fit (manager's boyfriend I think?) saying the truck could've been stolen, saying I was lucky it never was and when I said I didn't receive my dolly, I want my credit back he said I was lucky he didn't charge me a few hundred for "forgetting the keys" in the truck. I just purchased a house, going to need a truck again and a few supplies. Not coming back here again.

Horrible experience!! We booked on the phone. We had to book it three times, to get it right. When we called back to order closet movers and blankets they didn't have our reservation in the system. There 1800 number gets pushed through a call center, turns out we were talking to Arizona. So we booked again, they didn't have the right size of truck but it was a truck. So we booked. We go in to pick up our truck and guess what SUPRISE they had no truck for us!! we were told the call center had reserved it in GUELPH. another 45- 50 minutes one way with summer construction and 3 pm Friday traffic! I guess in Arizona they don't know the difference between Kitchener and Guelph. Anyways we were told by the booking agent behind the counter that " There is no truck available for you" in a very curt, and monotone voice. No apology, not lets see what we can do, absolutly nothing. This is kind of important, this isn't ordering blinds UHAUL!! We have paid movers waiting for a truck. We had reservations 3 to be exact! You screwed us. I will never use U-haul again, nor will I ever, ever recommend Uhaul to any one again. In fact I will go out of my way to share my experience with every one I know and I will make it a point to recommend the company we are now going to use in Kitchener. Real people actually in Kitchener, answering their phone and providing customer service and a TRUCK!!

I've rented uhauls in the past and generally hated the experience but they were all from mom and pop shops where uhaul was a side business. This is a uhaul location and they were great. They had lots of selection of trailers, were helpful, quick and helped me hitch it up and check that it was working safely. Nothing bad to say.

The past few days have been nothing but frustration and exasperation regarding the U Haul company in general, and not any one dealer in particular. It's the busiest weekend of the year and phones are not being answered, or you get cut off while trying to access the right option. I would think you should be putting on extra staff during such a busy time. Next time around, I will explore alternative options. I'm just hoping that I get my truck for the time I reserved it. Unfortunately there is no way to connect with anyone from uHaul to get some questions answered.

I rented 3 trucks in the June for 1 way trips to Ottawa and each time the truck was ready and in great condition. All the staff at this Colby location treated me wonderfully. I needed a storage locker for some overflow and you get 1 free of charge for 1 month. It's true. Didn't pay a cent for that (they provided a lock too). Definitely 5 star treatment from all the Colby staff. This does end well.... There was a billing screw-up (nothing to do with Colby). The 2nd time I rented a truck i called Uhaul when in Ottawa to drop off the the truck and was given a location. I googled the location and from the picture i could see that this franchise was like a normal house on a corner with very little parking. I called this suggested drop-off and was told 'Please don't bring your large truck here' and was given another drop-off address. i googled that and it looked like it had enough parking. Long story short, I got billed for a 'wrong drop-off' location fee. A call to the billing dept took care of this after i explained the situation. they were fully cooperative and immediately received a credit. Definitely will rent trucks from uhaul going forward. Used the truck for a short distance haul. Filled the tank back to where the graphic said to. The lot attendant said everything was fine and took the keys back. I got home and they had added gas to my bill that was more than even necessary for the distance. Had to fight on the phone and they kept trying to get out of it. Plain thievery. I will never deal with them again.

I booked a month in advance for a truck in Montreal. They told me the truck would be equipped with all straps and everything needed for a big move. The day before the move, they phoned to tell me I had to go pick up the truck in St. Jerome, 60 kms away from where I live, and I was supposed to go pick it up during rush hour traffic. I flipped. Told them to have a truck in MONTREAL. They found one for 9am near St.Jacques. I went there and the truck never showed up, so they told me to wait for two hours to see if another truck comes in. I flipped again. Then suddenly there's a truck available on Notre-Dame street, miraculously. By then the movers had to go on to their next job, and instead of arriving at my destination by 7pm I got there at midnight. The movers on the other end were incredibly patient and waited an hour and a half for me to show up. Without them, I would have not just flipped at U-Haul but blown my gasket right off. Incredibly disorganized, untrustworthy, unprofessional. Will never use this company again. When I complained by phone they said a representative would phone me to go over the issue. They didn't even bother to do that.

Je confirme la mauvaise expérience que j'ai eu à cette agence. On m'a obligé à prendre l'assurance (facultative) de 15$. On m'a dit que c'était nouveau maintenant depuis 2 semaines, que ça venait tout juste de changer, mais c'était faux. Je vous recommande d'aller plutôt au U-Haul sur Maisonneuve (coin de Lorimier), le gérant vous fera pas suer autant que celui sur d'Iberville, stiff et peu courtois.

C'est une agence ou le gérant et son fils n'ont aucune connaissance en matière de service clientèle ! Ils nous ont dit que l'assurance est obligatoire, prenez le camion ou le laisser avec un ton sec et manque toute courtoisie ! Alors, on était allés voir une autre agence ou le gérant nous a dit que c'est vous qui décidez de la prendre ou pas ! Une agence que je ne recommande pas du tout ! Never ever deal with this place. We reserved a truck more than a month ago, they didn't have it on the day we reserved it and told us it would only be there the next morning, then in the morning it still wasn't there, they wouldn't rent us another truck or arrange anything, and finally they were laughing in our faces telling us to cancel if we were unhappy. What kind of company does this? We literally had to pay people overtime, waiting around, for two entire days, because of these retarded idiots. If you think you'll save money by using UHaul, think again, these trucks burn more fuel than the war rigs from Mad Max anyways. I mean, how hard can it be to manage a renting schedule for a few trucks? And the customer service line wasn't helpful at all, referring us to a dead number where no human actually works.

Ont me donne un rdv pour l'installation d'un hich pour 11hrs le matin aujourd'hui ,je me présente et ils avaient oubliez, ou pas fait le message a la succursale de Pie-ix. Ils n'étaient même pas en mesure de me dire si la pièces avaient été commander. La main droite ne sait pas ce que la main gauche fait! Je mis suis rendu inutilement.De plus j'état pressé.....j'en avaient besoin pour le lendemain....Marde!

J'avais déjà réservé ma remorque depuis plusieurs jours et quand je suis arrivée, ils n'avaient pas ma remorque. Ce petit détail nous a retardé dans les préparatifs pour partir en vacances et nous a fait perdre une journée de vacance durement gagnée et méritée. Le service au téléphone pour trouver une autre remorque 4x7 utility à montréal à été exécrable. Je voulais m'assurer de pouvoir obtenir mon 50$ pour erreur de réservation avant de faire quoi que ce soit et le monsieur me criait après en me disant que je devais faire très vite pour annuler ma première réservation afin de pouvoir réserver l'autre remorque sinon quelqu'un pouvait la prendre et se serait de ma faute... Mais comme on a finalement annulé et réservé à une autre succursale, la 2e succursale ne peut pas nous donner notre 50$. J'ai donc téléphoné à la première succursale pour avoir mon 50$, mais ils m'ont dit qu'ils ne pouvaient rien faire et m'ont donné le numéro du ''service à la clientèle'' et m'ont dit d'appeler lundi entre 9h et 17h. Ce que j'ai fait, mais on m'a transféré à quelqu'un d'autre, puis encore à quelqu'un d'autre, qui m'a finalement dit qu'elle allait envoyer un email au fameux ''service à la clientèle'' et qu'ils allaient me contacter pour m'aider à résoudre mon problème... Ça fait une semaine et j'attends toujours... J'ai jamais eu autant l'impression de me faire niaiser par une compagnie. Je suis extrêmement insatisfaite du service reçu.

I've never ever had a worst customer service experience in my whole life. The guy wanted to overcharge me with optional insurance which in his head is clearly not optional, made me wait in line twice (30 minutes each time), once just to be told someone had to pin the trailer before doing the rental on the computer. Ended up with an argument and I didn't rent anything in the end. The old guy owning the garage should clearly retire.

Worst experience. Had reserved many weeks in advance for a 21" truck and when we got there in the morning of the move, was told that the truck had mecahnical probles the day before and they did not have any more trucks. After waiting for 30 minutes for them to find me a replacement, I called BUDGET in Dorval and got a brand new truck right away, took 5 minutes, and the guy already had started the paperwork when we got there. NEVER going back to Uhaul again !

Had my worst experience in life. Booked a truck one month in advance, Flew from Toronto to Montreral for the truck; the night before they called me and told me that they do not have a truck for me and they have no obligation to find one for me. I talked to them and they said reservation with Uhaul is not guaranteed. They even threaded me to call Police, if I continue asking for a truck and do not leave the office. I'll never ever try Uhaul again :(

They called me 15 minutes before my scheduled time to pick up my truck. 15 mintues later, I get there and they gave my truck to someone else and did nothing to help me get a new truck. Unbelievably poor customer service. Jason (Ghassan) has no respect for his customers. I paid to have a UBox shipped June 7th, 2014 and was told to expect it in 2 weeks. I kept trying to reach the manager, Jason, to get a status update on my UBox since the 2 weeks had passed and I had heard nothing. Then I finally reached him via phone to find out the my UBox was still sitting in the parking lot. I was promised that it would be shipped out June 30, 2014 and that I would not be charged an extra month's "storage fee" (since the UBox still hasnt been delieved and the month is almost up). Fast forward to today, July 7 2014. I called UHaul to find out that my UBox is still in their lot. They do not have the common decency to notify me of this! I have been in the USA waiting for my things to arrive and am currently living without my furniture or belongings. Oh and to make matters worse, I just received an email billing me for an extra month's "storage fee"!!! This is by far the worst moving service I have ever received. UHaul has no respect for their customers.

UPDATE: I've increased my rating to 3 stars since the guy who worked there (who originally gave me attitude when I asked a simple question) actually gave me a real apology when I came in last night to discuss my account. I very much appreciated this as a customer. I can respect anyone who can have enough courage to say "hey my customer service was lacking I should have never spoke to you like that." I wish more people could follow suit. However it still doesn't change the fact that I left 6 messages over the course of a few days for someone to call me back regarding my account. I ended up having to drive almost 2 hours to Uhaul to speak with someone since I was out of the local area because no one cared to call me back. A REAL inconvenience! When I first signed up for storage here they lost me in the system somehow and had no record of me despite me holding a contract agreement which assigned me to the locker I was in. I was denied access from my personal belongings until the office opened up. I had to again drive all the way down there (40 minutes one way) because no one answers their phone - to sort out the fiasco. I was provided with a free month as comp for the confusion. I am hoping that this will be the last of the problems I have here because I am at the end of my rope.

The only good thing about the experience I just endured was the actual truck itself. The truck was clean and got me to my destination with my belongings intact. However, the location and customer service are unacceptable. The location is difficult to find and dirty. The customer service representative did not honour the estimated cost I was quoted online. I ended up paying way more than I originally wanted and way more than original estimated. Overall, if I could redo this experience I would have gone somewhere else and received much better care and probably rental vehicle. I would never recommend this location to any person.

I had experienced the worst customer service ever in the Ajax location. Upon my arrival to pick up the moving truck, i was advised by the rep that instead of a return time of 5pm (as stated on my confirmation email) i was now to bring back the truck at 4pm. I showed her the email with the time promised and all she had to say was "I understand but if the truck is not back by 4pm, we will charge you $50" I explained to her that i based my whole schedule on what was written in the confirmation email, her response never changed from "i understand" Frustrated as I was with the terrible customer service and no notice I might add on the change of the reservation I had no choice but to take the truck until 4pm. Due to this I had to rent another cargo van from Home Depot ( as i refuse to give more business to UHaul) to complete my move as planned which ended up costing me more money then planned! I will never use UHaul for my move and will advise everyone to find a different company. The lack of commitment and customer service has guaranteed me to never return to UHaul again. Save your self the frustration & money and just rent from a different company !

Don't bother going here, they will charge you for mileage that you don't use and will give you less gas in your truck than what is reported even though they tell you they will adjust the rates. I did get a refund for the difference in mileage and gas from Uhaul's head office but not something everyone wants to go through. Conduct your business properly or not at all.

The worst uhaul rental experience I have ever had. I had to wait in line near 1 hour just to book the truck. when I went to pick it up it as 4 hours later than when I was supposed to receive it. I asked the attendant If I can keep it out for fours later than when it as due back to make up for my 4 missed hours. They agree and said it was ok. The next day I get a barrage of phone calls from the manager swearing at me for not picking up 1 phone call from him to return it on time and not one minute late. I returned it 1/2 hour later and explained to him that i should be able to keep it out another 3 hours. so he decided to try and charge me an extra day for the 1/2 hours overage. I called the visa company and put in a complaint and received my money back. I will never use this company again. The manager really needs to take better care of his personal hygene. Mohammad's BO stunk so bad I could smell it across the counter I would give this zero stars if i could

I was worried when I saw the bad reviews here but I rather deal with an actual U-Haul location than a neighbourhood dealer. I had a great experience. The staff were friendly and joking with me. The service was fast. The truck was clean and fresh. In fact, when I returned the truck, I quickly booked again for next weekend. I don't know why others have given this location a bad review. Perhaps these customers were just over stressed by moving day?

Too bad I cannot give it Zero stars. I reserved a 17' moving truck. When I was picking up the vehicle I noticed the attendant removing a key from the 15' foot rack. At this point the conversation went as follows: Me: Is this a 17 or 15' truck? Attendant: It's a 15. Me: But I reserved a 17. Attendant: We only have 15 available. Me: What about that key that I see hanging on the 17 rack? Attendant: That one is reserved already, going to Niagara. Me: What about my reservation? I also reserved one. Attendant: If I hadn't told you , you would not notice the difference. What are you moving? Me: I am moving a house. Attendant: Do you want to see the 15? Me: Does it mater? If I do not like it I will have to take it anyway since I must move today. Attendant: So you are taking the 15? Me: I guess I have to. But if I need to make an extra trip I am not paying for the extra millage or extra gas. And I probably will not be able to return it before 6pm. Attendant: I will give you the 17 then. Me: Okay. Honestly, U-Haul, this is absolutely unacceptable. If your company cannot guarantee the availability of the requested equipment it should be clearly and immediately stated. Adding this type of stress on top of an already stressful day is definitely NOT good business practices. You did not lose my business for this move, because you kept me on the dark until the last minute. But I guarantee that you will not have my business when I need to move again.

Customer service?...there ain't no service for the customer. All that they do in those desks they sit on is take money!..."oh...hi there gimme yo money and take these things on rent and then bring back whenever you... I live in Markham but always use thus uhaul location as they consistent give me reliable service. I never have had any problems with the equipment which affect my move. They have a large enough inventory to have what I need when I need it as long as the reservation is made in advance. Uhaul never has had top of the line equipment and replacement only when they absolutely have to. Expect wear and repaired items.

They made 2 mistakes, at the end apologized for one, but was not taking responsibility for the 2nd one, I had to complain with the head office for the other one, troublesome enough. Think about it, if they overcharge everyone and makes them phone in to someone else, what are the chances? They made it into such a big argument as well. The man also threatened me and we had our phones ready to call the police. Oh yes, he would come up to you and argue with you,15cm apart. Experience was a nightmare, truck quality is okay. Take a picture before and after and keep all your documents cause they were the only things that protected me.

When we pointed that out to the woman working here, she claimed there was nothing that she could do, because she couldn't get her supervisor on the phone. This is basically a criminal operation. Le jour de mon déménagement, le camion que j'avais réservé n'était pas là. Ce n'était pas de leur faute mais bien du client avant moi qui avait décidé de conserver le camion même s'il était hors réservation. La centrale téléphone par contre, j'ai eu beaucoup de difficulté à avoir un service. Je me suis même fait raccroché au nez. Après, j'ai été très sèche et j'ai avisé la nouvelle personne qui avait pris mon appel que ça allait mal aller s'il me raccrochait au nez. Cette personne a fait des pieds et de mains pour m'aider et me trouver un autre camion. Nous n'avons pas utilisé leur camion finalement. On avait trouvé une autre solution étant donné qu'on avait perdu beaucoup de temps avec cette histoire. Rendu à la succursale, ils ont été parfait! Ils savaient qui j'étais dès mon arrivée. Ils se sont confondu en excuses et m'ont assuré que le client qui n'avait pas rapporté le camion aurait des pénalités. Ils m'ont même remboursé un montant pour dédommagement. En passant, informez-vous en cas de problèmes, ils n'en parlent pas tout le temps. Moi j'ai eu affaire à un agent VRAIMENT correct. Il m'a même retenu au téléphone pour me le dire parce que j'allais raccrocher. Je n'ai pas eu de problème à obtenir le dédommagement. J'ai communiqué avec le gérant. L'échange avec lui a été des plus courtois et tout s'est fait rapidement. Ils m'ont un peu réconcilié avec la compagnie puisque j'avais déjà eu des problèmes majeurs par le passé. Donc avec cette histoire, ils ont bien compris à quel genre de cliente ils avaient affaire et qu'il valait mieux se mettre en mode rassurant et trouver des solutions pour me redonner confiance en la compagnie avec qui je prennais aussi un espace d'entreposage. Depuis, je suis entièrement satisfaite!

Le service de la caissière était passable, mais celui de son supérieur était complètement aberrant. Quand j'ai demandé à voir ma facture avant de payer (car le montant que je devais payer était plus du double que celui annoncé sur leur site), on m'a répondu que c'était impossible. J'ai donc demandé pourquoi le montant était différent et c'est alors que celui que je crois être le gérant est venu me voir pour me dire que si je n'étais pas contente, on allait tout simplement annuler ma réservation. Comme je ne croyais pas pouvoir trouver un autre camion le jour même ailleurs, je lui ai répondu que je ne voulais pas annuler, simplement comprendre. Finalement, c'était les assurances qui faisaient changer le prix, assurances dont je n'avais même pas besoin, car j'en possède déjà qui couvrent ce type de location. De plus, il y avait une erreur au niveau du kilométrage (ils me chargeaient pour x miles alors que j'avais besoin de x kilomètres....) Bien sûr, personne d'entre eux ne s'est excusé et on m'a même dit que si je ne prenais pas leur assurance hors de prix et que je faisais un accident, ils allaient me poursuivre et que je n'aurais jamais les moyens de payer! Vraiment, la pire expérience de service de ma vie!

Je suis extrêmement frusté et déçu par le service que j'ai reçu chez U-Haul. À partir de maintenant, je vais m'assurer de déconseiller cette compagnie à toute personne de mon entourage qui serait tenté d'utiliser leurs services. J'ai reçu un appel de la centrale la veille (à 16h45) de mon déménagement pour me dire que finalement, il n'y avait pas de camion disponible pour moi le lendemain. Tout ce qu'on me proposait, c'est un camion plusieurs jours plus tard. Voilà ce que j'appelle une "cheap shot"!!! J'ai appelé plus tard au bureau sur Henri-Bourassa à Québec pour me plaindre et le préposé m'a accueilli avec quelques fu*** et m'a raccroché au nez. Incroyable! Heureusement, j'ai pu trouvé un camion chez Discount à la dernière minute.

Très bien, le service sur la rue Armand-Viau, on a été servi avec politesse et avec le sourire par Patrick. NOTE: C'est tout le contraire sur la rue Henri-Bourassa, où il est pratiquement impossible d'avoir la ligne téléphonique (sérieusement je ne raconte pas de farces, j'ai essayé de communiquer avec eux à plusieurs reprises, sans succès, lorsqu'ils répondent c'est "U-haul un moment svp" et tu te retrouve dans la seconde qui suit sur attente, pour plusieurs minutes pour finalement se faire déconnecter et entrendre le BIPBIPBIPBIPBIPBIP du téléphone qui est resté décroché trop longtemps... j'ai essayé trois fois, avec le même résultat, pas moyen de placer un mot avant de te retrouver sur attente et te faire flusher 10 minutes plus tard... très frustrant, alors imaginez quelqu'un avec un cellulaire à la carte à 30¢/minute qui se fait jouer ce petit tour de passe-passe, vraiment pas fort... J'ai finalement réussi à leur parler, et je leur ai fait part de ce que j'en pensais, pour me faire répondre comme si j'étais un moins que rien, et comme si je faisais perdre son temps à la dame qui m'a répondu. Avec des expériences comme ça, vous comprendrez que je vais essayer de les éviter le plus possible, mais malheureusement ils ont pratiquement le monopole alors un jour ou l'autre on a pas le choix. Au moins on peut décider à quel point de service on fait affaire. Je ne prendrais pas tout ce temps juste pour chialer dans le vide, je prends la peine de le faire pour vous mettre en garde et vous éviter des mauvaises surprises. Imaginez un service comme ca pendant la grande période de déménagement!!! Croyez moi il vaut mieux prévenir que guérir. Donc, pour résumer: Armand Viau = winner! Henri-Bourassa = à éviter à tout prix!!! PS: Vraiment je ne comprend pas comment il peut y avoir une si grande différence de qualité du service à la clientèle entre deux points de service de la même compagnie!!! Et on parle d'une multinationale en plus. Dans mon cas c'est la première fois que je vois ça.

If I was going to book based on these reviews, I'd pass! However, I've rented from this location many times and have generally been satisfied with the customer service I received. At times I've had to wait longer than I'd have liked, but all in all, no complaints. We rented a 26' truck in April, 2015, for a big move and it was a beater in terrible condition - old and it shuttered and rattled, very hard to steer and it jerked into gear. I've just made another reservation for the end of Sept. and the operator was polite and efficient. (Fingers crossed for this to be another positive rental experience!)

Rented a van. Asked at time of rental if I could prepay Port Mann toll. They told me I couldn't, but gave me an email address to email once we had paid Treo for the toll. Paid toll and sent the email the same day, with proof of our payment. 2 months later, I get an email saying my card had been charged, but no reason attached. I emailed again, attached the original email, and let them know that I was going to do a chargeback through my credit card company. They emailed in a week saying they had "just got my first email" and would "look into it". A month later, they hadn't emailed me or reversed the charges. Really didn't appreciate how they wasted my time. If you HAVE to rent from U Haul, try the Christmas Way location. Had a much better experience there.

My experience was awful. When I made my arrangements over the telephone the week before I needed the truck, I was expecting an email confirmation. When I still didn't have it two days before my intended pickup date, I called to find out that the reservations was entered but the days were wrong. In addition, I had worked out a drop-off deal with the girl and apparently that wasn't going to be honored either. These people are so bound by company policies that are NOT customer friendly. Next time I'll definitely be looking at one of their competitors. No help from Dexter the Manager .. all he did was spout the company mantra. Stay away from U-Haul.

One of the worst experiences with U Haul! We weren't using a credit card so they asked for $100 deposit that we would get back on the other end. Then worked it out with that the $100 went to other things and we never ended up getting the money at the next u-haul place. Get everything in writing. Make them write you up a new receipt if need be. Do not trust them. called them they denied everything.

Have used this service 4 times in the past 2 years and I have to say it was EXCELLENT! Every step of the process from call agents to counter staff and the quality of vehicles was a pleasure. Very professional. This is one part of your move where you can breath easy. Must be a great place to work too as the staff is always positive, informative, helpful and happy. :)

WORST SERVICE EVER. very upset about the service. had appointment at 9 AM and got a call 30 min before the scheduled time saying they don't have the truck because previous customer just cannot return the truck that we booked. and the guy DID NOT SAY "SORRY" NOT EVEN A SINGLE TIME about this happening. keep saying "i don't have any control for previous customer" WHICH IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS. we don't need a truck to move a single bed, we are talking about MOVING OUT. 5 family members. DO YOU GET IT? It is lots of work. he said like we have 2 options which are burrowing smaller one there, or pick up the truck in Delta. Picking up the truck in Delta should not be our work. it had to be done by YOU. if you had realized 30 min before scheduled time. VERY DISAPPOINTED. if the guy started saying " we r very sorry but previous customer blablabla" it would not be this much upset. his attitude was like "i don't have control. what the hell do u want me to do?" THAT IS NOT HOW YOU OPERATE YOUR BUSINESS and HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMER WHEN YOU ARE THE ONE WHO BREAKING THE DEAL.

RUDE SERVICE, UNETHICAL, ILLEGALLY CHARGE CREDIT CARD. Have used automatic credit card debit FOR 16 YEARS with this location. We received an email letting us know that charge did not go through (we were issued new expiration date due to Target credit card hack) We called the next day to give new credit card expiration to debit. Hannah acted like we were thieves (who don't pay bills), acted like a petulant teenager to 16 year customers who have given this business thousands of dollars. Her superior, Denise had NEVER spoken to us emailed an eviction notice and then our credit card was illegally charged a LATE FEE of $15 that in email says will be waived for those on autopay. NEVER in 16 YEARS have we been treated so badly by this company. UHAUL customer service was SHOCKED that our credit card was charged while we were on the phone DESPITE being told that we would dispute the charge.

I had a positive experience with this U-Haul dealer. I rented a trailer, which the representative immediately noticed had electrical issues before hooking up. These things happen, unfortunately, but the folks here did a great job immediately finding me another trailer locally with no hassle for me (other than driving a few extra km). I appreciate the efficient and professional way that the issue was handled.

The access is fine, but the lanes are packed full of vehicles and trailers that make navigating certain areas very hard. The storage areas are dry and seem secure. My stuff was safe. Sketchy houses across street.

Horrible Service. Be careful! Check the car including the roof. Clear did';t check damages from previous renter, and didn't offer me a ladder, etc to check, either. Was left with a steep bill for damages that are not caused by me. BUT, very quick to charge my credit card.... Be very very careful with these guys. Plus, the truck I received was filthy, full of sand and dirt in the back. In addition, they were verbally abusive towards the wife when she dropped the truck off.

I should have heeded the previous reviews, not just about this location, but about U haul in general. I regret giving them my business. I was given false information by Brentwood Motors regarding a U haul rental, and I was subsequently overcharged. Look at other reviews, there are others who have had similar experiences. U haul as an organization has an incredibly poor culture, and absolutely terrible customer service. Buyer beware of this and any other organization doing business with them.

Horrible service. Arbitrary decisions made by staff on how much fuel should be 'correct' when gas gauge actually shows the correct amount. I will not returning here for business. Sales rep working was AJ, demeaning and a pain to work with. I suggest no one come back.

Terrible customer service! I had booked a van. When I went they guy could not speak English, then he tried to tell l me somehow that his machine does not work and I have to go somewhere else. Called uhaul and asked for $50 guaranteed money back as they say on their website, and they hanged the phone on me! Called uhual again , talked to 7 people, and no one was even providing the granted money back that they had in their website. Ended up spending 40 minutes over the Lost a day of work in terrible customer service and had to postpone move out to next day! How could some known brand hang up the phone when they could not justify their failure?!

Incredibly poor customer service. I called on 5/25/2015 in hopes of renting some carpet cleaning equipment which most Uhauls have. The person answering the phone had their mouth full and only said "Hello" I said hello and asked if I had the right number for Uhaul, he said "Yes." The lack of greeting and the overall unprofessional feeling from the conversation led me to go rent elsewhere.

Incompetence, start to finish. I needed a hitch installed for a bike rack to take on vacation, plus wiring for a trailer later. I got a quote online one day, shopped around some more, then returned the next day to book it. The price went from the original $343 to over $700. I called the store and they couldn't understand why that would have happened but said they would honour the price. But, oh, there's no hitches in stock, though I can drive myself out to Port Moody where there is one and bring it back to them. I was in a pinch, so that's what I did. Went back for the install, and despite having very specifically told them my car make and model, the hitch that they had me go get didn't have holes that perfectly aligned with the holes on the underside of my car. The install guy was "not a mechanic" so he was unable or unwilling to drill additional holes to make it fit, So, one day before leaving on vacation, I now had to run around town to find somebody with the time and wherewithal to install this thing. The guy I did find did it in 15 minutes and could not comprehend what the difficulty was with the u-haul guy. U-haul Guy did do the wiring and did so at no charge. Which was nice, until his lack of a skill set reared its head a few days later. While out of town, I hopped in the car to take the kids out for ice cream after dinner. As I was driving I clued in to how dark the road was, the reason being that I had no head lights! U-haul Guy wired up for a future trailer and killed my headlights at the same time. So I get home after a week away and call the store to explain what happened. My question was, should I bring it in for your to fix or take it elsewhere and send the bill? The minion who answered the phone couldn't make that call so said he'd have his manager call me right back. Did he? Of course not. So three days later I call again. Go through the same explanation, get put on hold for five minutes, then am told "I'm transferring you to the manager right now." But he doesn't. He transfers me to some call centre that is totally unrelated to the store and the girl there receiving my wrath has no idea what is going on. She does, however, have the manager's cell phone number. I call Keith, but Keith doesn't answer his phone, nor does Keith check his messages, because Keith's inbox is full and I can't leave a voicemail. So I hang up and call the store again. I explain myself to now a third minion who tells me how great their service is and she'll help get this fixed but, alas!, all the managers are busy, so she transfers me offsite to a regional office. I'm farther from speaking to somebody who can help me yet again. The experience in the office on the day of the attempted hitch install was also chaos. U-haul guy spent probably half the time working on my car than I did standing in line waiting to get to the service desk at the beginning and end of my appointment. They were chronically understaffed for the amount of customers that were in there. Regional office promises me that Keith will call and this will all be fixed, which I am sure it eventually will be. But for the simple install of a hitch and wiring, despite relatively lower prices than alternatives, don't put yourself through the ordeal of going to U-Haul.

Mouse crap on every flat surface after one month. The staff at the front desk just shrugged and gave me the number to make an insurance claim. I found an employee in the hall who was able to give me two additional mice traps but that was the extent of it. Would not recommend.

It is my first time to deal with Uhaul and it concerns getting a hitch trailer attached. It was a disaster!!!! The appointment was delayed twice because the hitch has not arrived -- even after there people called to confirm that appointments!!. And then when the hitch arrived - it cold not be installed as the hitch was defective/misaligned! The installer and the manager could not even tell that it was misaligned until I was told to a guy in Richmond who really does this for a living. Really?!?!?!?!?!?! For a company who's prime business is moving and selling hitches, they cannot even tell their product is defective???? What a joke of a company!

I arrived at 10 to pick up a cargo van which I had booked online about a week prior. I did the online expedited check out to save time when I arrived. Unfortunately, I stood in line for 40 minutes before getting to the one desk they had available for check out. The woman at the desk repeatedly said it was month end which of course means a busy time. My question then, is why would only one person be available when you know how many clients are coming in based on reservations? The woman at the front wasn't the friendliest. However, if she was the only one booked that day to work, I can fully understand why she'd be stressed and doing her best to move the line as quickly as possible. Kudos to English gentlemen bringing the rentals out to customers and signing them out at the end of the day. I watched him run back and fourth the whole time I was there trying to keep up with the volume. He was friendly, charming and did everything he could to make the experience a positive one. Once again, not enough staff were working at a time management clearly knows is busy. I returned the van about 45 minutes after my rental was due which I didn't feel bad about as it took almost an hour to get the van originally. Fortunately that wasn't an issue. What was an issue was the 7am wake up call I received on Saturday morning asking where the van was. Had I have been returning a library book, I could understand how someone might miss this but a cargo van? I see from a previous review someone else had this exact same issue meaning the systems are poor and disorganized. This locations problem is it's management//ownership. The staff aren't great (besides the English guy) but why would they be with no support or proper resourcing from people at the top?

One star is too high! Avoid this and all Uhauls at all costs! If you do however want to use this location be prepared for the following: -Poor, almost non-existent customer service. -"Misunderstandings" from start to finish. Anything from payment issues to collection action all the while they have payment information on file. -Regularly taking payments from a credit card that was removed from account and replaced with different credit card. - FRAUD, That's right! FRAUD. My credit card information was used by the staff at the North Vancouver location to pay for someone else's storage locker for 6 months. After VISA and the RCMP got involved I was refunded a total of $875. This is after an absolute headache dealing with Uhaul customer call centre and the unprofessional and incompetent Manager, Janet. - Don't expect to ever directly reach this location by phone. 9 times out of 10 you will be speaking to an American thousands of miles away. Although, after making so many calls to rectify the atrocious services, I find these individuals more helpful then the North Vancouver team. Remember people, you vote with your wallet. Opening it up and giving your money to these people, this company, means the same non-sense will continue until the free-market decides enough is enough. Uhaul, you have lost a customer for life! I will share my experiences with as many people as I can in hopes this does not happen to anybody else, ever again.

I called to inquire about about propane tanks. Got hung up on twice, waited on hold three times. The woman on the phone was extremely irritating. I was my normal polite self. She kept calling me sir and repeating herself in an extremely condescending tone. She did not try to understand what I was asking for at all. I absolutely believe in equal opportunity employment, but I won't be verbally abused by rude and horrible mentally handicapped lady. I don't care if her husband left her, her dog ran away and she had just been diagnosed as an imbecile, she needs to leave that out of her work. After a total of twenty minutes on the phone, I realized that I was not getting anywhere with her. I was forced to tell her to F-off and hung up. Just go somewhere else. Its not worth it.

The person was very rude on the phone when I called to confirm my reservation. I didn't get the key to moving truck until 925am. My reservation was made for 9am, I was waiting outside the door at 855am. The staff took 20 min to turn on computer and fix WiFi that wasn't working. Very unprofessional, rude.

the guy was SO RUDE!! all i wanted was some boxes for moving. I got 5. HE TRIED TO CHARGE ME ALMOST 4$ A BOX!!!! I told him i saw online they were around 1.25??? he said "yes but i had to bring these in from the states". obviously i laughed at him and said no way im paying that. I have used U-Haul locations in the past around the Vancouver area and the experience at this location was pretty much the same. Pricing is easy to sort out $19.95/day, $15 insurance, $0.69/mile and you must return the truck gassed up to level you picked it up. I have not moved from the Vancouver area so the costs for my moves have all been low. If you are doing a long haul you may want to look at a competitor as the per mile cost can creep up on you; but U-Haul is by far the most inexpensive choice for short self-moves. What was great was that the owner was able to accommodate the rental at very short notice. As I did not plan my move well enough in advance the other locations I have used in the past did not have anything available. It was a very quick, easy and convenient rental and you can pick up drinks and snacks at the location as it doubles as a convenience store. Only fault I could find was that they did not offer anything over a 10 foot (length of truck's bed) truck. This is a Westend business owner, so I guess they are really just accommodating a client base of apartment owners/renters so I should not have expected to find a larger truck. I would ignore posts about false quotes as the pricing is pretty up front (as mentioned in the first paragraph of this post); the other people making these claims are either terrible at math or cheap or both. If they do not follow the U-Haul pricing model they would loose there franchise rights.

****BEWARE**** The OPTIONAL moving coverage charge of $15.00 was added on to my bill at signing without my being aware of it!!! The representative discussed the cost of rental, cost per kilometer and cost of gas but FAILED to mention she added on the OPTIONAL move in coverage. My compensation is an email coupon of $15.00 for anything in the store from uhaul. Dont let this happen to you!!

Pick up of the truck and return was great. Overcharged for a dolly that I didn't request and overcharged for taxes (at first they charged me 6% GST/HST rather than the expected 5%). This resulted in phone tag with U-haul in the USA and this location. The local salesperson first said tax was applied on only the truck charge, but next phone call she said its applied on dolly rentals, so it was clear she did not have the answer. Either way, she said she couldn't do anything about fixing the tax charges and that I would have to call a 1-800 number. Just received an updated bill that fixed the overcharges, but the taxes still do not equate to BC Taxes. Poor customer service, as the salesperson wanted to close the conversation as soon as possible, I would recommend going with a different company.

Absolutely fantastic experience. I had to rent a van to move my Daughter. Lynn took great care of us. Welcoming and had the unit ready to go. I informed Lynn I had concerns of getting back on time due to Ferry times and what I should do if I am running late. She gave me her number and told me to call if there would be an issue. I was able to return the unit on time and Lynn was a pleasure to deal with. Great location that made a busy week easier. Will rent again if needed.

Very disappointing. Was given contract prior to inspecting vehicle and assured all info correct. Obviously wasn't and was both overcharged for km used and gas. Would not recommend, and next time insist on seeing odo and fuel. Lesson learnt.

I returned a trailer here. The lot is supposed to be a 24 hour drop-off, so you just drop it off. A week later, I get an invoice indicating I was several days late, and that the trailer was 'buried behind the others'. If someone had been doing their job, they would have come in the next day, seen the trailer, and recorded it as returned. The only bright spot was that a manager (eventually) got back to me and removed the late charge.

Its the worst ever place I ever visited. I booked the hitch much beyond the time with express freight charges to get it delivered on next day. I am about to join new job. But at the last moment U-Haul ditched me stating that the hitch I booked is given to somebody else and they cannot see the express delivery charges on the bill. The worst part is their manager onsite who was very rude and said the hitch is in ontario and go yourself to get it, further if you want to make a complaint do it. Very unethical behaviors by U-Haul manager. Because of U-Haul I have to dump everything here and go alone without my stuffs to my new job.

Called in the day before to make sure my truck would be ready, they said yes. Next day "sorry your truck won't start but if u want to go see it I can show you we have it". Also insulting me asking if I don't understand English, when u see them you would laugh at that comment. Individual at the location was great, truck was new and clean. Smelled like manure however, so not sure if it was properly cleaned. I used it to transport a glass table. The owner marks and puts stickers on the van where there is damage. I only drove 9 KM, but was sold on the insurance after each minor scratch or dent was marked. I didn't need it, but felt like it would be a hassle if there was magically some damage to appear. UHaul is incredibly sneaky with this process and there really is no way to protect the consumer from this.

I want to commend Natasha at this location for excellent service even though the problem with the electrical system with the cargo trailer was not caused by her or this location in any way. I had rented a 4 x 8 cargo trailer near Windsor, Ontario. On the drive to Toronto the green wire which had been fixed with some electrical tape separated. That morning I went to the 4095 Kingston Rd location in Scarborough to see what could be done. Even though it was cold and she was dealing with other customers on her own, she knew exactly what to do to remedy the problem and I was on my way within half an hour. She said any U-Haul problem is my problem. The next day I was starting a 2000 km journey and needed to the right tailight to function. Thank you Natasha. I hope U-Haul can recongnize you for your excellence.

They have a good selection of equipment, however be super careful about checking that the equipment works. Their maintenance is just awful and their customer service is worse than what you get in the poorest countries in the world in case anything goes wrong. The trailer I rented at this UHAUL in Dec 2013 was given to me without working running lights. The employee was supposed to check this and said ALL-OK when we hooked up the trailer, but while on the highway at night I noticed the running lights were just not working. At that moment I saw the wiring on that trailer and could not believe my eyes: all cables had multiple patch points I am not surprised one of them came off. Upon returning the trailer I spoke to the manager who was dismissive and basically suggested I had cut up the wiring. What a joke! I was very upset the negligence of this UHAUL location and manager Ahmed had put my family´s life at risk and instead of acknowledging the gravity of the situation and pledging to fix the trailer for future patrons he instead told me I was at fault. After weeks of calling Uhaul central and nothing happening I am putting up this review so future clients can have an idea of what to expect here. Its a shame how demoralized these employees are and what a substandard service they are giving.

Faulty wiring harness on a 4'x 7' trailer would have had to wait over an hr for roadside to fix. Guy who hooked it up said all was good but it wasn't.
