HUDSON, FLORIDA -- Horrific! Agree! I had a good experience from Monterey CA to ocaside & back but from CA to Florida the vehicle broke down 3 times, extra hotels, food & time spent and my furniture ( new, some got wet with a leak in the uhaul) no compensation! From Florida supposed to have been phoenix but they demanded a drop off address so I had to give my old one and with witnesses I made it clear I had no home and Arizona (phoenix)was were I was going. On trip, got a call over 1000.00 tacked on if I drop it off there because of wrong drop off and money for the trailer, vehicle and insurance added. Bull! I made it clear phoenix and Monterey I had no home. Looking for a home in phoenix and tons of money spent on hotels, food, gas & I have sle lupus & was so sick with stress. I get calls back for homes and no, I lost them because I was forced to drive sick back to Monterey after all the money and time I spent looking for a home. So I cried and cried and had two extensions should have only been tops 400 even though I was told 40 a day. They have these recordings. Listen to them. I am homeless, in Monterey, money gone and I had to wait 7 extra days because the manager in Florida was supposed to call me and the only one who could fix it. It was a Friday and no calls all weekend with me constantly calling. Then this happen again. I have witnesses. I got so sick with my lupus. I was scared enough not knowing where I was going to get a home in phoenix then after talking to 9-14 uhual people I could take no more. The manager in Florida said "you made the reservation over the phone so we need their recording" i said no I did not me and a man came in directly and made the reservation. She admits to remembering me saying I had no home so phoenix would be where I would most likely look and she said just call in and give the drop off so no extra charges. Really, they were tacking on money anywhere they could and stalling. She the manager in Florida said this "i called my supervisors and can get nowhere and I can only say drop it off" i refuse to pay the extra after the 1829.00 I paid up front. No way. They owe me for time, lost homes, my health, a vehicle we found out after tons of cars beeping at me because the lights stopped working. We look and the wires are broke but I was told to hurry up and drop it off so I kept going. So to Florida and back has been a nightmare and I am in a abusive situation because uhaul workers could not do their job and customer service would not right things. I will not pay more. I have witnesses, receipts and my Dr to take to court if they wish. I am so aggravated, depressed and scared. I am stuck in this place sick. Great job uhaul for messing my life up now.

TEXAS -- Several months ago, I was planning a cross-country move and checked into UHaul's U-Box Pods system. I spent an entire day on the phone with them, because I kept getting "transferred" and cut off. I spoke with seven different people, and got seven different quotes for the exact same scenario. They refused to send me a quote in writing (ie. an email) until I'd paid them an amount ranging from $240 to $650, depending on who I was talking with. I asked to speak with a manager, and kept being transferred randomly to various non-managers. Not that it mattered, because when I did get someone who said he was a manager, he was as clueless as the rest of them.

ESSEX, MARYLAND -- Scheduled a 9am pickup for a 15 ft truck for an out-of-state move. When I arrived, there was ONE Uhaul truck with the flattest tire I have ever seen (possibly slashed?). Called customer service on 4 different phones & spent an hour trying to get it sorted out. Their only advice: they can provide a replacement within 24 hours. Never mind that there are multiple Uhaul locations within 10 miles. For some reason we weren't offered an immediate replacement truck from one of those locations. I had hired paid movers and had to drive 8 hours to my new location and had already taken half a day off of work for this move. In the end, I went down the street to Penske. They had dozens of trucks available and were able to get us a truck in 15 minutes. The next day when I contacted Uhaul regarding my experience, I was hung up on three times by customer services representatives out of the corporate office. One of them, who identified herself as Katrina out of the executive office in Phoenix, was so incompetent she wasn't even able to locate my contract. Her colleague was able to locate it immediately, so obviously Katrina was not competent to perform her job. Finally someone offered me a $50 reservation guarantee credit, which doesn't even begin to rectify the 2 hours delay, extreme emotional distress suffered, and pitiful excuse for customer service I've experienced by virtually everyone I've spoken with from the company. In addition, one of the customer service representatives, who hung up on me, offered me a replacement truck...three days after the date of the contract...for an out-of-state move. Absolute incompetence. I will NEVER use Uhaul again. Penske was $400 more expensive, and worth every penny. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!! Definitely contract with a competitor over Uhaul. Unless, of course, you have hours to waste waiting for someone with an ounce of competence to assist you in customer service.

EDMONTON -- Complaint about a Canadian U-Haul at Edmonton (9521-51st avenue, Edmonton, AB T6E4W8 Canada). Complete dissatisfaction with the unprofessional services and disrespect demonstrated by several staff members. The experience has left us with the impression that U-Haul's advertising is completely false and we will not be recommending your business to anyone in the near future.

WICHITA, KANSAS -- Let me start by saying U-Haul must have the dumbest people working for them. I wanted to rent a car dolly to pull a truck. I went to the website to gather information on U-Hauls car dollies and this is what I found. A car dolly is designed for the front axle weight of the vehicle, not the entire weight of the vehicle. COEUR D ALENE, IDAHO -- So I got a U-haul. The first month is free and my payment was due on June 30th. Well I decided to make my payment for the $79.99 storage unit 3 days early. Somehow it went to $84.98 is what they said. Okay no big deal, tax right? So everything went good with the payment until my bank account balance automatically text me anytime anything is spent on my account. It said the charges were for $97 and 69 cents.

LEONARDTOWN, MD -- My husband and I move a lot and we just got our Uhaul containers delivered today. This is the first time we are doing it without a truck and with containers. My experience is as follows so far. The Negatives: I have a paved large circular driveway I asked them to be placed on. I am guessing it is slightly uneven in parts (like most pavement). Due to this the delivery guy wedged shims with a sledge hammer after delivering them. After putting in my lawnmower, however the door no longer closes.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- I'm writing with a complaint about the price and value at U-Haul, and I hope someone will take this seriously. I recently rented a truck from U-Haul. On approximately March 29, 2003 I made an online reservation (reference number **) for a 17 foot truck and auto transport to be picked up on 4/3/2003 at 925 Niagara Falls Boulevard Amherst, NY 14226. In retrospect I wish I had never rented any equipment from your company. The following will explain why. The first problem I had was when the general manager of the facility ** neglected to place the utility dolly in the back of the truck prior to my taking possession of the truck.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY -- I will never rent another you haul truck again. I had a rental truck for a couple days at the end of may. After my contract was final the total cost was $406. Uhaul took over 700 dollars out of my account without my permission. I don't drive so my only mode of transportation is the city bus and I live outside of the city. Knowing I had money in my account, my wife and I took the bus to the city with the cash we had, thinking we could withdrawal more at the ATM in the city.

Are you the type of person that wants your rental truck to drive like a jackhammer? Maybe you want the dash to smash your shins and new TV? How about having all of your earthly possessions stuck inside of a broken-down, POS truck from the year 2000? Perhaps you would like a phone call at 8 am everyday asking "when you gonna our truck back", even though said truck had to be towed because it had a bad battery, alternator and fuel pump? How about having someone "hold" your hard-earned money for 3 WEEKS (because you haven't returned the truck) then being told it will be refunded today, only to wake up the next morning and see that they actually TOOK money from your account and now you have an overdraft fee?

U-Haul has been a pain since I first started using them. Terrible communication. I called the customer service. They told me one thing. Went to pick up the U-Haul and it was completely different. The man I had to deal with hung up on me and then charged us more than the total I was first given. I will never use them again.

The process of renting UBoxes was not at all as easy as it was made out to be when making reservations. I'm no expert on towing, and it was not clear to me that I would need a hitch in order to tow the UBoxes with my car. I therefore arrived on the morning of my rental to discover that I would need to rent a truck to move the boxes. The UBoxes I rented were not at the location I agreed to when reserving them online. I got to the agreed-upon location and was told to drive 30 minutes to where they were. Thankfully, the employee at the first location was kind enough to accommodate me and provide other UBoxes he had available.

I have been charged an extra $2000 from U-Haul and have been calling for 5 days trying to get my money back, meanwhile being charged overdraft fees every day. I have been passed around 3 different offices and been told for 5 days that it is "first priority of tomorrow morning" with no results. I am livid and looking into legal action to get this $2000 back. Unfortunately that means I have to figure out how to live without food for as long as it takes for either the court to award me $2000 or until I have worked at my job long enough to pay back the bank and get in the black. This is illegal and NO ONE WILL HELP ME.

I was told by Ryan at the U-Haul on Greenville and Ross ave. in Dallas, Tx. that the miles on the truck was wrong according to the print out. He wrote the correct miles on the print out and drew a line through the wrong one. I was charged for 50 miles, but the trip was less than 20 miles.

Today I went to the U-Haul branch on Ontario Street in Cohoes, NY to have one bolt installed in a trailer hitch which I had purchased from U-Haul and had it installed by U-Haul. The bolt was missing due to improper installation by U-Haul to begin with. These are half inch bolts, they NEVER just fall off. In fact there was NO TRACE on the hitch plate of a bolt having ever been installed in that location. I called U-Haul and I was told over the phone that since the trailer hitch has a lifetime warranty, the bolt will be replaced by them. At most - I was told - there would be a $5 charge. When I drove to the U-Haul branch on Ontario Street in Cohoes, NY your employees there told me THAT THEY HAD NO BOLTS AVAILABLE. Perhaps the fact that I am a WOMAN made them think I am stupid enough to believe that U-Haul does not have bolts available.

Certainly the last time I rent a Uhaul by choice. I opted to go to my local Uhaul instead of a Penske or Budget because they were close by. I make the reservation a month ahead thinking I'm being responsible and avoiding any possible screw ups. WRONG! Uhaul found a way to make my life more difficult. I get a phone call two days before I'm supposed to pick up the truck saying that the location I reserved doesn't even have trucks, and now I have to drive over an hour to get a vehicle. I would have canceled but all the competitors jacked their prices up for a last minute reservation. Horrible customer service, horrible website, horrible company.

I recently rented a 26 ft truck from U-Haul of Saddle Brook NJ. At first I thought to myself that the truck was old but as long as the job gets done I don't really care. First thing to happen was the steering was very off so you had to drive the truck in turning position. Next the transmission kept getting stuck so it would buck really hard. It stalled out twice and almost refused to turn on 3 times including a 15 min wait time to get it started. Then when night time came the lights inside the back of the truck would not turn on forcing us to move in complete darkness. Then I call to complain the next day.

I was quoted $135.00 for a truck for 10 hours and storage. When I went to pick up the truck I could only keep the truck for 6 hours or I will be charged a late fee. My total for the truck for 6 hours and storage was $223.00. I also was lucky enough to get a free month of storage, that was also charged on my card for insurance, if I keep the unit or not! Well after my lovely day at U-Haul and moving. When I returned the truck on my way out, I hit a pot hole in their driveway and now my car is as loud as the lies I got from U-Haul employees. Thank you U-Haul. It's been the worst moving experience I've ever had! I guess I got what I paid for (U-Haul).

If you have a choice, DON'T rent from U-HAUL, ever. U-haul's customer service and computer reservation system are horrible. Very, very rude customer service representatives with pea sized brain. They can't even confirmed a reservation correctly. And who ends up getting screwed? The customers! You don't call your customers the day prior to the pickup date and tell them the location has changed when the reservation was already confirmed 2 days ago. If that location didn't have a truck available, then don't confirm it! This kind of messed up scheduling only drives your business away. I will never rent from U-Haul again.

Our moving truck was overbooked and not available at the time of move. Maintenance was not done on it as it went directly to us. It ended up being delayed 5 hours and we had to reschedule the movers. We purchased the Safemove protection with roadside assistance. The truck broke down on top of the pass in 105 degree weather with our daughter, niece and nephew (we're raising), family pets, a fully stocked fridge and freezer with ice bags, including organic skincare for my business and our 2 cars.

Booked a truck. When got to service center it was closed. Called U-Haul and they sent me to another center. When I got there he said he had no trucks which he told the dispatcher but they're not me there anyway. I told the Broward County dispatcher which spoke broken English what had happen and she hung up on me and said tough crap.

I was in a hard spot due to being laid off and had to move my storage to save money. I did not have the funds so my 70 year old mother was kind enough to send me a certificate to cover the cost. I show up at U-HAUL, present the certificate and they tell me that they don't have a truck but I could wait. I wait for 3 hours and they have the truck. I then start to check out the truck and hand the lady the certificate. She said that I could not use it until after I got back and they close at 7pm. I knew I could not load, travel, unload, and return trip by 7pm. I came back first thing in the morning and there is a new lady there.

TERRIBLE Experience with U-Haul! I reserved a day rental (an entire week ago) for this Saturday and I was informed today that I had to drive about 45 miles to pick up my truck. I was also given the option of picking one up this evening, but it would have to be back by 7 am tomorrow! Are you serious?! My moving date is Saturday... not Friday night or next Saturday which they also offered me. So in short I cancelled my order and I am going to contact Penske tomorrow. They said they would refund my $$$, but nevertheless I am still stuck with a moving date and NO Truck. You just don't treat people that way and I cannot believe you would advertise in-town one-day rentals and then just leave people hanging! Awful experience and I would say please DO NOT USE U-HAUL!!!

Absolutely horrible experience with U-Haul this past August. Reserved a 10' Truck (4 hours) one week before my move date, and received confirmation that my truck would be there for the date and time requested. Fast forward a week. We arrived at the pickup location half an hour before reservation time. We were told the previous renter was on his way back to drop off the truck. Over an hour after the reservation time started and still no truck. Eventually the truck did arrive, but were refused access to the truck on the basis that the employee didn't believe we could return it before the next reservation. All that was offered was a phone number to contact a U-Haul reservation hotline to see if other trucks at another location were available (there obviously weren't as it was the last Sunday of the month).

I have contacted U-Haul in an attempt to get this matter resolved before writing a review. There is a definite disconnect between U-Haul, Dispatch Locations, Moving Helper and the moving company. When you have issues they want to pass the buck around and around. I moved from Atlanta to Pittsburgh in June (peak moving season). I wanted to add another box to my order and they said it needed to be done on the day of the move. The day of the move came and I added a second box (which they charged me exorbitant transportation fees for adding it so late?) I was then charged for six boxes!

Made reservation 10 days ago to pick up a truck from a specific location and return same day. Called and confirmed reservation information a few days before due date and realized they had the wrong date, wrong pick up location and wrong truck size. Stayed on phone with reservations person for an hour and was told everything was all fixed. One day before my move I called location pick up and they let me know that they did not have the size truck I need and my pick up location had been moved to new location 40 miles away. NOTHING was correct once again. Asked to speak to a U-Haul supervisor and her entire attitude was "Oh Well that all we have available." What good is a reservation if they are not going to follow it!!!

U-Haul Inventory error cost me $1300.00 debited from my account. On July 29, 2015 I rented a cargo van for one week. When returning the truck I discovered that my bank account had been erroneously debited prior to my rental return for $1100. My money was not returned to my account until 2 business days later. Meaning no access to my account for 2 days. After the error the location manager stated she would not charge me for my rental due to the error.

My son is moving from the SF Bay Area to Portland, OR. He is being charged over $1,900 for the move including sales tax and insurance. I asked the representative if we returned the truck in 2 days rather than the allotted 4 days if they would charge less. He told me they charged by the number of miles, not the time the truck would be rented. On a whim, I went to their website and input my address and his destination, same truck, also one-way. $167.00 was the estimate (pre-tax). You have to understand that he made a reservation three weeks in advance to understand the next part. I called the customer service dept and asked why they were charging him so much more if the charges were based on mileage. He lives 3.5 times farther than I do yet the charges were actually 10.4 times more than what I would be charged.

First I called the U-Haul customer service number to see if the truck would be available on the date and time I was going to pick it up. After the customer rep state yes, I booked it. A day later they called to change the reservation to a city 42 miles away and a smaller truck. To which I notified them that I did not have a way to get there and asked if they could bring the truck to the location I had reserved, they said no. Next we changed the reservation to the original location but a day later.

We rented a U-Haul Trailer to move our daughter down to college. Upon our return, the trailer came loose from our hitch, swung widely from side to side, and rammed into the back of our SUV several times. We were able to avoid hitting any other vehicles and managed to get safely to the side of the road. We immediately called the U-Haul help line and were told to reattach the trailer and drive to an auto parts store 37 miles away to have someone check it was properly installed (the wires had been torn out, so we had no trailer lights). Once we realized the store would be closed by the time we arrived, we called back two additional times to get assistance. We were told we could drive the trailer 150 miles home or wait two hours in the dark for someone to come out and inspect it to ensure it was safe to tow (we thought it was safe to tow the first time).

Wasn't familiar with U-Haul. Brett was extremely patient in explain in detail how the process worked...very polite and friendly. Provided excellent customer service and was much appreciated. Thank you so much and I will definitely be recommending the location as well as using it in the future.

Truck overheated 10 minutes after pick up leaving us stranded on side of 401. Took 15 minutes to get through to roadside assistance. My husband told them the problem. He is a truck mechanic, runs a large trucking company. Not a roadside fix but they insisted that they needed someone else's assessment and that this person would email with ETA. Good thing we had our own cell phone and a connection. We are told ETA 90 minutes. No other mention of what they were going to do to fix this even though they had it on good authority that the truck is overheating.

I tried twice to reserve a van at a local U-Haul and BOTH times was hung up on by 2 different representatives. They employ brainless losers to answer their phones. I don't even want to waste anymore of my life discussing this, just had to vent. U-Haul sucks! Period!

As you rent your U-haul truck, bear in mind that your online reservation is ALWAYS subject to being changed to a time and place of U-HAUL's choosing. I wouldn't say this except that they have burned me this way, if not worse, 6 times now (yeah I know... How smart am I). It's okay for them to do this because there IS a clause in their rental info that basically gives them permission to do so. OK, so once, twice... But repeatedly? Why does U-HAUL even offer the "Preferred Location" selection if they are going to change it anyway? This last time I was again told there were no trucks available at the location I selected ("preferred"). I wanted this place because the people there treat you like a valued customer and are just plain generally nice people. At least once when corporate tried to bone me, they went out of their way to make it right (actually they went above and beyond that).

In a world of technology, sorry U-Haul you can't do that! Upon returning the 120000 miles piece of crap truck I rented, a rude, unapproachable, weird person walked up to me and said, "I need the keys and they are on your hand." The dude was rushing me so bad that I lost $20 right there. Went to my car, put my kid in my car, returned and the dude already charged my credit card. I said I want to pay cash. He said with an unapologetic attitude, "I've already processed the transaction and you will get a receipt in the email." 2 hours later, when he finally sent my receipt, I noticed a charge for $7 for a dolly I did not use.

First I called U-Haul to get some rates for U-boxes and to have my furniture shipped to Brooklyn, New York from Port St. Lucie, Florida. The next day I called to set up the time for the U-boxes to be delivered to my house and where they would be delivered to in Brooklyn. I decided to load the U-boxes in Florida myself. They were delivered to my house in Florida on June 19th because they only deliver and pick up on Fridays. I hired Marjam Movers to unload the U-boxes at my house when they came to Brooklyn. During the conversations with U-Haul they asked where I wanted them delivered. I gave my new address in Brooklyn. During all of my conversations with U-Haul they never once said they don't deliver to your house in New York.

I delivered 2 Uboxes to West Seneca, NY U-Haul location. Both Uboxes supposed to be delivered July 21 to my address. One box was misplaced. Computer errors happened. I received August 10 only one box and nobody can say me where is another Ubox. It's terrible moving experience.

I wrecked a car parked in a corner in a NO parking space while driving a 26' U-Haul truck on 8/16. I paid $14.00/day for their insurance coverage, still I'm being asked by their insurance company Repwest to provide my personal ins. info. They sent me a form I had to sign giving them my ins. information basically authorizing Repwest to contact them. So I signed nothing. I told the rep unless I have more information from them such as the cost of the damages and how much the $14.00 premium was really worth, I wasn't cooperating with them. If they're attempting to collect money from me and/or my personal insurance, how would they deny me that information?

Before I reserved the truck, I called Uhaul to see i they had the rental truck available, to which the Uhaul employee verified and stated yes. A day later my reservation was changed to another city and a smaller truck. After going back and forth over three days and Uhaul changing my reservation THREE times (different times, different cities and different times), I finally gave up and was left with no choice as the last change to my reservation came in the last day and I could not extend my stay as I needed to be back at work. I am absolutely dumb struck that a company like this actually exists.Worst through it all customer service couldn't care less, very upsetting."

I made a reservation 2 weeks before my out-of-state move. When I made the reservation, the lady over the phone told me someone would call me the next day to schedule my truck pick up. I waited, no call. I called back a few days later, and man over the phone told me that they generally call to schedule a pick-up 3-4 days before the move. I waited, no call. I called two or three days before my move, and the man over the phone told me that they generally call to schedule the pick up THE EVENING BEFORE THE DAY OF THE MOVE! Fine. I waited. No call. Well, on the DAY of my move, I called their main office and was told to go to this location to pick up my truck. I got there at 10:00 am, and they told me they had no truck available!!! I am moving across the country, and I don't have a truck to load my stuff into on the day of my move! If a U-Haul customer service representative wants to confirm this, they can just review the phone logs associated with my account. I look FORWARD to hearing from them.

Just rented a U Haul truck that I had reserved two weeks ago. The lady from the location called early today and said the size of truck I rent was not available, tried to get me to take a smaller truck so I went to the location right away and found one sitting on their lot (whats up with that). When I went back later that day at my pickup time at 5pm by the way which the lady when she called said they ask all their customers to be pickup by 4:45pm ( I guess business is not worth staying a few minutes late to give customer service maybe they should change their hours and stop trying to work bankers hours. When I did pickup my truck the truck was dirty both inside and out, the windshield was so dirty it was a safety hazard when the glare from the sun hit it. By the way Jims Campen and Trailers in Fletcher NC has to be the rudest place of business and the most unorganized place in town. Don't expect to get a live body when you call U Haul customer service it is hopeless.

I rented a truck for $19.95 a day plus $.99 a mile on 7/2409 at 1:43pm and returned it on 7/25/09 at 10:30am with at total mileage driven of 6 miles. my total bill was $50.13, the clerk charged me $19.95 twice she stated that the rental was $19.95 for the first 6 hours. I have rented trucks from U Haul many times before and this was the first time i have ever heard this. This is a total rip off. The store is THE BABY DEPOT (042423).

Regarding location: Pearl Oil Change 1314 Pearl Rd Brunswick, OH 44212-On day of reservation May 1st, they tell me they do not have the truck available. Then they told me to go to another location several towns away to pick it up. I went to Medina location and they said Pearl Oil Change should have never sent you here as there was a closer location called Skyview Farm. So I drove again to third location and finally received truck.I want you to be aware how unprofessional location Pearl Oil Change is. Things that went wrong: Gave us the wrong directions from the Uhaul website Sent us to 2 different locations to pick up a truck & a trailer The locations were over 30 mins from our house when there were literally 20 locations closer The trailer light system did not work – we sat in the parking lot for hours waiting for roadside assistance to fix it – the day before we were loading our truck & moving We left the house at 2pm to pick up this equipment & did not get back till 7pm – with the lights still not working as we would have had to wait 3 more hours – so we risked a ticket at the behest of uhaul The truck size we were advised to get was too small and so we did not move out of state with all our belongings The day were loaded our truck we had to get roadside assistance to come fix the lights I called customer service repeatedly to get these things fixed & talked about – I got put on hold & the run around Things that went right: we got offered an upgrade on the truck size (could not take it – the truck we too far away so still moved without all our stuff) and we got a discount from the office that rented us the trailer- also a few of the customer service reps were not nasty.

Once again Uhaul proves what a $#*!ty company they are. I made a booking thee weeks ago, checked on it several times. Recieved confirmation and a text Today. Spent an hour standing at the desk and WHAT you don't have my trailer! You want me to drive 2 HOURS TO ANOTHER TOWN. I live in Edmonton an now I have to drive to Wetaskewin. You are messing with people's lives for gods sake. You think this is acceptable business practice. Oh they kindly offered us the 50.00 guarantee WTF. It will cost a lot more than that for the gas and time lost. You SUCK. And it costs them nothing...they chargeback the 50.00 to the last guy who rented. Woo hoo! Hahaha. Screw you uhaul. Our experience was a nightmare... I read the reviews prior to renting the truck but I figured if I got names and a confirmation number I would be covered. NOT!!!!!! Ordered truck near my home to be picked up at 8 am just for my husband to get to the location and find out there was no truck for us and attendant at the gas station was uncooperative... When we called ahaul they tried to tell us our reservation was for 2 pm mind u I had spoken with someone three times about this reservation even to inquire about a larger truck after my initial order. After traveling to several locations and uhaul checking around I had no choice but to wait until 2 with my help waiting and being unconvinced just for the person who was suppose to return that truck to keep it for an additional day.... This was a total inconvenience and turned out to Beverly costly. They gave us another truck at 2 and a discount but it doesn't compare to what we went thru and neither did the fifty dollar check the sent for our inconvenience and additional funds we put out from this situation. They need to do more when the cause such an inconvenience. That only covered anything not even what we put out for the truck

Rented truck in Oakland California. Customer service was good and there was no problem with the truck. However when you see 19.95 advertise on the side of the truck you believe the rental is $19.95. What is not mentioned is that you are charged .89 a mile, which is acceptable, except you are charged for 50 miles upfront even if you do not drive 50 miles. The $19.95 rental ended up costing $98.00. It is actually cheaper to rent a panel van from Enterprise, you get free mileage.

The location at 23rd Street was much better than I expected after reading the reviews. When you go in the main entrance, the store sells boxes, bungees, and other moving supplies, and the area is very well maintained. The reps are located along the back wall, and were waiting there to help clients. I walked up to a window, and they pulled up my reservation and had me checked out within a few minutes. They gave me the key and contract and then I headed out to pick up the truck. I had to wait a minute or two for them to move it out, but overall things went smoothly.NOTE: I had a VERY early reservation: 7am pick up for a day-long move. It might be a bit more hectic later in the day, so I'd recommend getting there early.

I'd give it zero if I could.By far the worst UHaul location I've been to, and that's saying something - after all, no one expects a stellar customer experience from UHaul.I've had numerous scheduling fails here: not once was my UBox ready for unloading when I showed up. Moreover, the front desk can't deal with a lot of UBox issues - leaving it to the UBox staff, many of which leave (inexplicably!) well before 4PM. Courtesy? Yeah...no. That's in short supply from the front-desk staff, some of whom act like they're doing you a giant favor in dealing with you.My recommendation: avoid this location if you can. If you can't - call (if you can get through) ahead and MAKE SURE that they have everything lined up.EDIT:I'd like to say that not everyone at this location acts this awfully. There are some staff who genuinely do try to help you - and my sincere thanks to them. But, the overall attitude is still incredibly poor.

The guys in the parking garage were quite helpful at drop off. That's about the only positive.Rates are kind of high. The lady at the front desk was also extremely cold and unhelpful. At one point I approached her and she snapped at me instead of asking me nicely to wait. Also, she mentioned that we get overcharged for gas we don't refill, but forgot to mention that the charge is negligible if the tank is still at least 1/4 full. I had to read the fine print to figure that out; otherwise would have had to run around town for an hour, during rush hour, looking for a gas station. Unprofessional.

I really have no good reason NOT to give this place 5 stars, but it seems a bit enthusiastic.I needed to pick up a bed from Brooklyn and move it to Manhattan. Movers would have cost a shitload of money, so I rented a pickup truck - 4 hours for $20. Cool. The truck was ready when I got there, everyone was friendly and helpful, nothing bad happened, we moved the bed without a problem, got it back on time and with the right amount of gas, and poof! We were done. The whole thing cost me less than $80 with gas. It was WAY cheaper than movers, and actually kind of fun! I read the yelp reviews the night before going to this place and have to say I was a bit scared. But no one cheated me out of my money or anything like that, so I'd definitely use this again if I had to!

Uhaul. You think you want to save money and you think that YOU want to HAUL-- but really, moving sucks and there comes a point where you wish you just spent more money and the move would take care of itself. I did a DIY move recently and here are the tips to make your Uhaul experience more do-able:- Reserve a truck. There are calculators to help you figure out the size. but don't forget ... bigger is better (that's what she said). - Make sure you get accessories -- dolly (consider 2!), moving blankets, etc. Then when you go to pick them up--- COUNT THEM because they won't do this for you and you might almost grab the wrong (lesser) amount - Get the first reservation slot and show up 15 minutes before they open. You'll avoid waiting in lines. note- your rental starts when you SAID you will pick it up- not when you actually pick it up. So don't f* that one up- spend a LONG time doing a walk around and point out every scratch dent etc before you sign off - Check the gas gauge and make sure you understand where the gas stations are located - Understand that the advertised price on the truck is about half of what you'll end up paying .. miles, gas .. they add up Everything was fine. Uhaul helped me to save hundreds of dollars. But I love this place as much as I love going to the dentist.

I'm just here to ease the worries that almost made me decide not to use this UHAUL and rent a ZipVan instead; a decision which would have cost me much more money. I rented a 9' cargo van to move my bed and some other furniture/boxes from my old apartment in the LES to my new one in the Upper West. I reserved the van a week in advance and checked in online to simplify the process and hopefully to remedy some of the sources of horror story reviews I saw on here previously. I arrived to pick up the van around 12:00, fifteen minutes before my reservation time. I walked in, was directed to the counter where I provided a woman at the desk with my license and credit card. I was explained the contract in simple terms and had the keys in my hand in under 5 minutes. The staff was nothing but courteous to me.When I got to the garage to pick up my van, it was in a pretty tight parking spot so I asked one of the attendants if he could move the van in front so I had room to pull out. He instead pulled my van out for me and drove it to the curb; perfect. From there it was smooth sailing. I picked up my stuff, threw it all in the back (the van was very clean, I was impressed) and brought it to my new place. I got caught in traffic dropping it off but I returned it around 15 minutes ahead of schedule regardless. The drop-off took around 5 minutes; the attendant checked my gas usage, told me the charges, came to 71 dollars for around 15 miles.I definitely wouldn't discount using them for your standard in-town vanilla move. It was an easy way to get me from place to place and I saved a lot compared to hiring movers. I can't speak to the UBox issues that a lot of people had, which to be honest sound pretty bad, but at least for a standard move like this I would certainly use them again.

This is a terrible company, but it's even worse in NYC. I remember when they had the "rent this truck for $19.99" signs on the trucks. By the time you got out of there the final cost was closer to $80 than to $20. It was a bald face lie and it's how they conduct business. I rented a truck in the mid west to drop off here and that truck had the gears grinding for a good 100 miles. After hours of calling the main line and then looking up local places, who would just say, "Don't bring it here!" like I was offering them a cold glass of Leprosy. Finally we stopped in at one we found on the way without calling and they gave us a truck without the gear problems. The first one wouldn't go in reverse. I can't imagine driving a truck without reverse in NYC. Then after 4 hours in the sun changing over we inquired about a discount for our trouble but I don't even have to tell you the answer to that. They did offer us an extra day on the rental for no fee. Of course when we arrived in NYC and dropped it off somehow that no fee was changed to significant fee. So, anyone who recommends this company and especially this location is either working for them or has just been very very lucky. BTW, there's a truck rental company on 25th Street that is trustworthy. They'll quote you a higher price but it's the price you'll pay. That's how you should run a business. I live in Chelsea and will never rent Uhaul again.Oh and before I found the other company, I was in this location and I could swear that the Uhaul rep was going to attack this foreign guy who wasn't putting up with the nonsense. He kept saying, I'm the customer, is this how you treat the customer? I was actually worried I was going to see bloodshed. Avoid.

They lost my ubox for 3 weeks, then once they found it continued to charge me for it for two months after it was delivered.  I spoke with the headquarters (which is just as bad) and they still haven't refunded me.  I"m going to call my bank for credit card fraud because they keep charging me and haven't reversed the charges.  Worst business I've ever dealt with.

Based on the reviews, I was reluctant to book here. However, since I just needed a truck for a few hours to move a couch in Manhattan and because this outlet seemed convenient (more on that below), I figured I'd give it a shot. Glad I did. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but my experience really was great.(1) On 8/24, I booked a 10-foot truck to pick up the following day at 4:15. I called ahead to confirm at noon on 8/25 - all good. I arrived at 3:55 pm on 8/25, was on the road with my truck and moving blankets by 4:10.(2) I said that I needed the truck for 4 hours, and the guy said it always pay to add an hour. I did, and used it! (returned it at 8:45pm)(3) Speaking of which - I returned it at 8:45 pm. Do you realize how convenient it is that the place is open til like 11!? If you plan on moving in the evening, this detail alone will save you having to rent for two days and find overnight parking. (Perhaps some other outlets have this service, but none of the ones I found in the city did).(4)The estimate was $71 (including $16 for optional extra insurance, and about $10 for the blanket rentals, which were very clutch), but I went about 10 miles more than I thought I would. So it came out to $84. Very cool with that. (5) Returning the truck was equally snappy - took a couple extra minutes to peel off some tape from the blankets, but that seemed like a totally reasonable request.(6) Everyone I interacted with was perfectly helpful and willing to answer my questions. Obviously, this was only my experience and I utilized the service for a very specific and simple purpose, but I was entirely satisfied. Would not hesitate to use this Uhaul again for similar jobs.

The worst customer service I've ever gotten. These people do not have customer service as a priority, from the associates to the general manager, they're just there to collect a paycheck. I was never explained verbally that the truck I rented had to be returned to the same location. Nor was it written anywhere. Their explanation and indication was: that my rental was a local rental. To me, as a customer who doesn't know the policy and procedures, local means to me, within the same city. Not for them, I called them to ask if I could return it at another location and the person I talked to expected me to understand their policy by these clues: -that the receipt had the address on the top. (Every business in America places their address on the top of their invoice sweatheart) that's no indication of return to that address. -that the window of use was only 4hrs. (How can I assume that is the use is for only 4hrs, it had to be returned to the same location)When returning the truck the person who inspects and checks you out was waking around the area like it was his break time. I had to wait about 20mins for him to decide to come back to work. Went inside and just placed the keys on the counter and left. An associate yelled at me: "is there a reason why you just threw those keys?" I mean these people are ready to fight you. I rated their service online after my experience and the genera manager called me and said "the only thing I can do at this point is apologize". Yeah, like I need an apology. I've worked in the customer service industry for about 16yrs, and was a generals manager also. I made sure if a customer had such bad experience that they were compensated somehow for the time with us to ensure they would come back. I WOULD NEVER COME BACK TO THIS LOCATION. GOOD LUCK COLLECTING YOUR PAYCHECK FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

This place is the worst. I live in the neighborhood and they constantly have security alarms going off at all hours of the night.  I spoke to the manager, Ian Brown, a minimum of 15 times and he has done absolutely nothing to rectify the problem (which is clearly an over sensitive alarm trigger and employees not understanding how to disarm when opening/closing the store).  Ian Brown is rude and abrasive every time I speak to him.  This problem has been going on for close to a year now. In addition, the uHaul trucks are always being parked on the street, blocking traffic and making the street dangerous for anyone trying to hail a cab.  The place should be shut down.

Complete morons who work here. Ordered moving supplies online.. Called to confirm that my order was ready to be picked up (I was told it was). I arrived at the store, one of the employees starts asking me to get all the items on my list and tells me a couple of the items are out of stock and since he already clicked them as picked up on the system couldn't give me a refund unless I had a the credit card i used (my mistake for forgetting my CC at home). I returned with my CC to get a refund and waited around for 30 mins while a line of 5-6 people grew because one incompetent worker was trying to rent a van to a couple in front of me and the other 2 were just walking around listening to there iPhones with headphones on... I guess its my fault for having any expectation of customer service..

Generally reluctant to give 5 stars but my experience today was seamless. Showed up 30 min prior to the reservation time - there was no wait and the check-in process was relatively quick. Keep in mind that this was the morning of a work day. I noticed that the boxes there are pretty cheap - much cheaper than the boxes they offer at my storage place Chelsea mini-storage. They seem to have all the supplies you would need to move (I just didn't need it). The cargo van we got was brand new model and clean which I was impressed with and prompted me to write this review. Note that you need to look at the receipt to see how much gas you started with and how much you need to fill to because if they need to fill it on their end, they charge a significantly higher amount per gallon.

It's a u-haul in a major metropolitan city. It's. $20 plus $2/per mile plus insurance $20. I ended paying $400, but that is what I expected to move something myself out of the city. Gas was another $30. It's expensive. But, worth it for my purposes. I wish we could get the mileage rate they charge upstate but alas I live in manhattan and everything cost $$$. It worked. My truck was cute albeit a bit dented. But, nothing lost.

They were the first ones I thought of for storage and moving to my disappointment!  WARNING - they don't even do moving anymore; they suggest outside movers who don't even have a truck! And this is only to put your stuff into storage.Secondly they really gouge you for Manhattan storage since theyre one of the few, but even their biggest storage unit is not that big. They also seem really short-staffed there, you'll wait awhile for help. Once my questions were answered I knew I had to go elsewhere.

Le site internet permet de réserver un camion, mais les dates sont en chinois. (Vraiment en chinois) Pas possible de louer un camion près de chez moi malgré qu’il y ait 2 succursale à proximité. Le manque de courtoisie du personnel et son incapacité à vouloir aider à régler une erreur m’ont vraiment étonné. Le prix d’une location est bien au-dessus de celui annoncé. C’est une compagnie des États-Unis, plaquée en Ontario, donc aucun bénéfice pour la société.

Je suis extrêmement frusté et déçu par le service que j'ai reçu chez U-Haul. À partir de maintenant, je vais m'assurer de déconseiller cette compagnie à toute personne de mon entourage qui serait tenté d'utiliser leurs services. J'ai reçu un appel de la centrale la veille (à 16h45) de mon déménagement pour me dire que finalement, il n'y avait pas de camion disponible pour moi le lendemain. Tout ce qu'on me proposait, c'est un camion plusieurs jours plus tard. Voilà ce que j'appelle une "cheap shot"!!! J'ai appelé plus tard au bureau sur Henri-Bourassa à Québec pour me plaindre et le préposé m'a accueilli avec quelques fu*** et m'a raccroché au nez. Incroyable! Heureusement, j'ai pu trouvé un camion chez Discount à la dernière minute.

Il y a 2 ans j'ai loué un camion à Québec que j'ai remis dans un stationnement d'une entreprise à Chicoutimi comme convenu, et cela, 30 minutes avant le temps exigé. Personne n'était là pour constater mon avance. À ma grande surprise, j'ai été facturé une journée supplémentaire. J'ai été outrée par ce coût supplémentaire. Ayant un témoin avec moi, j'ai écrit à l'entreprise pour leur dire qu'il y avait eu une erreur. Sans succès. Je les ai harcelé jusqu'à obtenir remboursement. J'ai maintenant un souvenir amer de cette expérience.

Le service de la caissière était passable, mais celui de son supérieur était complètement aberrant. Quand j'ai demandé à voir ma facture avant de payer (car le montant que je devais payer était plus du double que celui annoncé sur leur site), on m'a répondu que c'était impossible. J'ai donc demandé pourquoi le montant était différent et c'est alors que celui que je crois être le gérant est venu me voir pour me dire que si je n'étais pas contente, on allait tout simplement annuler ma réservation. Comme je ne croyais pas pouvoir trouver un autre camion le jour même ailleurs, je lui ai répondu que je ne voulais pas annuler, simplement comprendre. Finalement, c'était les assurances qui faisaient changer le prix, assurances dont je n'avais même pas besoin, car j'en possède déjà qui couvrent ce type de location. De plus, il y avait une erreur au niveau du kilométrage (ils me chargeaient pour x miles alors que j'avais besoin de x kilomètres....) Bien sûr, personne d'entre eux ne s'est excusé et on m'a même dit que si je ne prenais pas leur assurance hors de prix et que je faisais un accident, ils allaient me poursuivre et que je n'aurais jamais les moyens de payer! Vraiment, la pire expérience de service de ma vie!

Quand j'aime je le dit mais là...Jai louer un car dolly trailler. Au telephone on me dit un prix mais au comptoir il charge 100$ de plus pour lassurance de 9 jours...je paye meme pas sa pour mes 2 voitures pour un mois...c juste un dolly lol. De plus jai dû retourner chez ns chercher les papiers du vehicule à remorquer car ils ne mon pas avertie avant de les fournir. Le dolly était très usé avec un trouble de lumière intermitent dû au fillage négligé. Il y a 2-3 caisse mais seulement une personne au comptoir peux importe l'heure donc cest tjs long avec leur paperasse.

Mon camion m'a été donner 5h en retard j'ai du déménager à deux personnes car le retard m'a fait perde 4 amis qui ne pouvais plus venir. Pour m’accommoder on m'a offert 50$ de rabais qu'on ne ma jamais appliquer et en plus on m'a charger deux fois ... quand on appel on as 5 versions différentes sur "comment ils vont régler le problème" qu'ils ne régleront finalement jamais. Je le conseil pour les petits chargements, mais pas necessairement pour des gros déménagements, ça peut revenir cher. Ok, faut s'attendre à un service à la clientèle disons... Atypique. Nous ne sommes pas chaleureusement acceuillis et le proprio n'est pas des plus rapide, mais si vous gardez le sourire et restez gentils, ils le seront également. L'endroit est étrange puisque c'est avant tout un magasin de matelats, mais c'est bien à l'intérieur que vous pouvez vous entegistrer ! ATTENTION : les heures de fermeture sur google ne sont pas nécessairement exactes. Le boss semble fermé boutique un peu n'importe quand. L'équipement est propre. Le temps de location ne commence que lorsque vous êtes enregistrés (nous sommes arrivés en retard pour notre réservation à cause du traffic et ce temps ne nous a pas été facturé). Aussi, s'ils vous font attendre 10-15minutes avant de vous donner les clé, sachez que ce temps n'est pas chargé. Pas de frais fantômes comme certaines autres personnes semblent avoir été victimes, mais il faut bien lire : c'est 20$/heure + 0,50$ du kilo + l'essence doit être au 7/8eme quand vous retournez le camion. Ça peut monter vite !

Le jour de mon déménagement, le camion que j'avais réservé n'était pas là. Ce n'était pas de leur faute mais bien du client avant moi qui avait décidé de conserver le camion même s'il était hors réservation. La centrale téléphone par contre, j'ai eu beaucoup de difficulté à avoir un service. Je me suis même fait raccroché au nez. Après, j'ai été très sèche et j'ai avisé la nouvelle personne qui avait pris mon appel que ça allait mal aller s'il me raccrochait au nez. Cette personne a fait des pieds et de mains pour m'aider et me trouver un autre camion. Nous n'avons pas utilisé leur camion finalement. On avait trouvé une autre solution étant donné qu'on avait perdu beaucoup de temps avec cette histoire. Rendu à la succursale, ils ont été parfait! Ils savaient qui j'étais dès mon arrivée. Ils se sont confondu en excuses et m'ont assuré que le client qui n'avait pas rapporté le camion aurait des pénalités. Ils m'ont même remboursé un montant pour dédommagement. En passant, informez-vous en cas de problèmes, ils n'en parlent pas tout le temps. Moi j'ai eu affaire à un agent VRAIMENT correct. Il m'a même retenu au téléphone pour me le dire parce que j'allais raccrocher. Je n'ai pas eu de problème à obtenir le dédommagement. J'ai communiqué avec le gérant. L'échange avec lui a été des plus courtois et tout s'est fait rapidement. Ils m'ont un peu réconcilié avec la compagnie puisque j'avais déjà eu des problèmes majeurs par le passé. Bonjour contrairement a tous les commentaires j'ai commander des pièces pour mon trailler et j'ai recu un excellent service et rapide. j'ai eu les pièces la journée qu'il m'avait dit et il ont un nouveau gérant Jean-francois qui est en place depuis peu de temps et qui m'a bien recu je viens de loin de québec et les pièces devait être là la journée que j'y suis aller et sa été fait. je dis merci a la nouvelle facon que Jean-Francois essaie d'implanter. La compagnie je pense a été sensible au commentaire qui ont été écrit sur internet. Nouveau personnel et nouvelle vision. Souriante et Positif. Merci j'ai eu de bonne pièce.

No ramp, over charging for gas. I got a truck to move a piano, and even knowing that, I was given I uhaul with NO RAMP!!! Plus I put gas in to cover the 15 miles I drove but was told that wasn't enough and would be charged another $50 for the gas. Add to that it took nearly an hr to rent the thing in the first place and I am not happy. Never renting from here again

I "reserved" a enclosed trailor a week previous to needing it and they called 1 day before my move date telling me the closest trailor was 100 miles away. Didn't even offer to discount the price for the inconveniance. I was giving them a second chance after I rented a truck from them and it broke down half way to my destination. Poor customer service and truck quality is SOP for this company.

We reserved a truck and trailer two months in advance. We received a call less than 24 hours before we were scheduled to pick up the truck telling us that the truck we reserved is no longer available and we need to drive 100 miles in order to pick one up. Again, this was less than a 24 hour notice! Very poor customer service. I wish I would have called Budget or Peske first, I didn't need to sit on hold for 15 minutes to talk to someone like at U-Haul and they both had great customer service.

When I went to pick up the Truck the guy was really rude and monotone, didn't greet the customers. He never thanked customer for waiting, never apologized that they had to wait. When I went to drop the Vehicle that guy was really nice and helpful.

As far as Uhaul goes, this is the best. Sam is very nice and took great care of me. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I used them 3 times in February 2014. I also was able to hire labor-only movers from the website (Simple Moving/Movers) and used them twice also.

I rented a hand dolly. They charged me for one day, then charged my card again without my knowledge for 6 more days. I only knowingly paid for one day and had to dispute the other charge with my credit card to get my money back.

I reserved a furniture dolly to be picked up on a Sunday at 1pm. I called on Sunday at approximately 12:30pm and the guy said they close at 12pm on Sundays so I couldn't pick up the dolly I had reserved. He offered to check other u haul locations but I was irritated after that. I borrowed a friend's appliance dolly which made the work 3x as hard.

Unbelievably poor customer service. Jason (Ghassan) has no respect for his customers. I paid to have a UBox shipped June 7th, 2014 and was told to expect it in 2 weeks. I kept trying to reach the manager, Jason, to get a status update on my UBox since the 2 weeks had passed and I had heard nothing. Then I finally reached him via phone to find out the my UBox was still sitting in the parking lot. I was promised that it would be shipped out June 30, 2014 and that I would not be charged an extra month's "storage fee" (since the UBox still hasnt been delieved and the month is almost up). Fast forward to today, July 7 2014. I called UHaul to find out that my UBox is still in their lot. They do not have the common decency to notify me of this! I have been in the USA waiting for my things to arrive and am currently living without my furniture or belongings. Oh and to make matters worse, I just received an email billing me for an extra month's "storage fee"!!! This is by far the worst moving service I have ever received. UHaul has no respect for their customers.

Very helpful in selecting the right moving tools, truck was available when promised, and they credited me back some money when I showed that the last renter had not returned the truck full, as stated. Made an 8 hour reservation with a Calgary location for both pick up and drop off, and got a phone call the next day to confirm. When the agent got to know I was going to pick up something in Lethbridge, she said she did not know that and would call back. But she NEVER did. So I called Uhaul to inquire. Guess what? They have already changed my pick up location to Lethbridge! No phone calls or emails, they didn't even ask if it's OK to change the pick up location, they just did it without even trying to let me know. When I asked why they changed it, "THAT TRUCK IS NOT ALLOWED TO GO OUT OF TOWN, so you can pick up another one in Lethbridge." When I made the reservation, nothing was mentioned about "staying in the city", nor was it in the email confirmation. BE AWARE, not every Uhaul truck is allowed out of town (and they don't tell you when you make the reservation), and Uhaul employees make changes without even letting customers know.

I had the same issue as Jasmine- booked a truck WAY in advance only to have a call less than 24 hrs before my scheduled pick up time to find out that I had NO TRUCK! How can a business operate like this??? To add insult to injury instead of trying to assist me, they offered me $50 and sent me on my way TRUCKLESS! I had to pay DOUBLE for a smaller truck to move my things from KW to Toronto area! If you reserve a truck you should be guarenteed that reservation! I will NEVER deal with U-Haul again!!! I wish there was an option for NO STARS. I booked a 9 ft cargo van online for 4 hours (11-3pm), and had a confirmation #, etc. Arrived on site to pick it up (granted it was after 11am but it doesn't matter, since i had booked it UNTIL 3pm) and there WAS NO VAN!!!!!! WTF. Obviously we were depending on this truck. Terrible customer serviced. Said they couldn't find the order. Total BS. Thankfully there was a Zip Cargo Van not far away and they saved the day. Absolutely atrocious customer service. I advised them of my need for a truck for 6 days and they took my reservation. When we called back into find out the height restrictions, they incorrectly booked our reservation for a truck and couldn't allow us to keep the truck. They yelled at me on the phone, told me that there was nothing they can do, wouldn't transfer me to anyone and told me I was out of luck. Do NOT book with them unless you want to be truck-less. UPDATE: the same manager called me back and left a voice mail advising me that I am a liar for posting this review online. I don't understand the management has to time harass their customers instead of calling to advise them of changes to the promises they made.

I booked a truck through U-haul from them 6 days ahead of my move, and they called me 2 days before my move to tell me that it was unavailable and I would have to go somewhere else to get a truck. I understand that there may be two horribly integrated booking systems, but it SHOULD NOT take 4 days to realize that a truck will be unavailable for someone who booked online.

I am so disappointed with U-Haul right now. I am planning to move from Toronto to Montreal this Saturday and have had my 17 foot truck reserved for 5 weeks. We received a call today notifying us that our truck would no longer be available, but that we could drive to Port Hope, a town 100 km away, and get one there. I realize that it's not the company's fault if another customer doesn't return their truck on time. However, the next part was what upset me so much! We said we would drive 100km East to pick up the truck, and then 100 km back West to load it, before continuing our 6 hour drive as planned IF they included the extra km, as well as a coupon/ discount to make up for the extra gas we would be spending on all of this driving. So just to reiterate, we have to drive our car all the way to Port Hope and back, as well as drive the van back to Toronto to load, BEFORE CONTINUING OUR MOVE to Montreal. So before even considering the gas price for the planned route, we would have to pay approximately an additional $150 for our personal vehicle and the truck. When we called customer service and the regional office, they offered us the extra km and a $40 discount. FORTY DOLLARS?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? That won't even get my vehicle to pick up the truck, let alone back to where we originally reserved it. Ridiculous. Now I'm waiting until tomorrow to see if someone can help us. Shocking - there wasn't a manager to help me at the time I called. I'm seriously hoping something gives, as this is a HUGE moving weekend and no other truck companies have available vehicles. Good thing we've been loyal customers to this company for years now... UPDATE: May 30, 2014 - 11:23 AM After posting the above comment on their Facebook page and a few other outlets, I received a comment response, requesting that I forward my reservation number to a specific email address so that the problem may be investigated. After submitting the information via email, I was notified that someone would be speaking with the regional office and that I could expect a call to sort the matter. Shortly after, the office called and offered us another truck. We wished to reserve, but the office said they would call us back to confirm. No callback came. After calling the following morning and waiting on hold for nearly a half hour, I asked about the details of the reservation. The representative seemed surprised that I didn't know if I even had one, let alone where it was/ for what type of truck. He confirmed that WE DO HAVE ONE! Thank goodness! And it's even in the city I originally requested. I also asked to speak with the supervisor/ manager within the regional office. He politely declined, saying that the manager was not taking calls, but that I could leave my number and receive a callback. I pointedly addressed that the office was supposed to have called me already. I went on to explain that I was happy to have a truck, but was not interested in leaving my number again. I did suggest that he forward my frustrations and explained that I was surprised I hadn't been offered any time of compensation for this awful experience. Only then was I notified that we would be receiving extra km and a $70 promotion. I'm glad that they offered us some type of discount, but I look forward to seeing if it actually pans out. I still don't feel like a satisfied customer, or that my $500+ business is appreciated, especially after being a loyal customer for several decent sized moves. And I can't believe that, after multiple requests, I was never forwarded to a superior or person in charge. The point of this extreme rant: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

This U Haul is the worst ever. No wonder everyone hated. I went to get my propane refill and one of the propane guy did it stop quick, I'm like wow. So he ask me cash or credit, I say cash. He say $16.80 like he know much it come out to be already, I told him I need a receipt. He say Ok lets go inside and calculate my total 4.5 gallon at $16.16. I pay for it, went outside to get my propane and it was so light, about half way only. So I went inside and told them my tank is not full. The same guy came out again and try to add some more but he say its not filling no more it stop. So I went up next to him and say it so light I refill it before I know how it is and you do too. So this time he do it again with me looking at the meter and guess what the meter start counting and he say yea this time its moving. He stop as soon as it hit 1 gallon. He say, is it still not full? I told him forget it, I won't ever come here again and left cause I don't to cause problem. I will tell the people I know about this place too. It deserve to be shut down or fire those dishonest, cheater employee who rip off customers. Don't ever get propane at this UHaul again. If u do make sure u check the meter after they fill it for you just to make sure you don't get rip off.

The manager Patrice told me to email my contract showing where the gas was when I rented the truck. Emailed the receipt, she never got back to me. Every time I call, they leave me on hold and never return. The people are rude and very unprofessional. Its sad because this is why African-Americans are given bad reps in business and life period. Just set up the reservation - it was very thorough. Just did the quick check-in - it was very easy. Just talked to Tamara on the phone for some quick questions - she was VERY helpful. I note that other reviews indicated a need for better customer service; well, they weren't talking to her, I wager that! I've used UHaul before - and from this location - and I've had VERY few problems. Hopefully, my move goes as smoothly as my rental does.

The store manager was rude and very un-professional. I had reserved a trailer for pick up had a reservation number and he stated he did not have the trailer. I requested that he help me with something else. He said you could go to Genesee rod location and get the trailer. I asked again what was he going to do to resolve this he said nothing because I disrespected him. I was on tight schedule and needed trailer. I had even verified the location that morning. After basically being told that I am SOL. I went to 1400 Genessee rd location they could not have been nicer. I was stuck and needed the trailer. I will rent from U-haul but will never rent from this location again.

Their customer service leaves much to be desired. Particularly the Manager, who already seemed bothered by me before I even asked my question. Then when I followed up with a call to the customer service center (which this manager was quick to refer me to), the representative I ended up being transferred to was just as apathetic that it bordered on rude. My move to Buffalo just a year ago was seamless when I used Penske and the only reason I booked a Uhaul this time around (a month in advance) is because it was slightly closer to my apartment than Penske....turns out I should've just stuck with Penske because I just found out that my Uhaul reservation was changed this morning (note: 48hrs prior to my scheduled pickup) and noone bothered to inform me of this change until I happened to walk in to check on the reservation earlier. Now I have to pick it up 30 mins away. In their defense, the site does state that customers only select their PREFERRED pick-up location, but I still think one deserves a courtesy call when your preferred location is switched to 20 miles out. Terrible customer service. Lesson learned: stick with the brand/company you trust. And for me, Penske is it. So much so that I feel the need to write them an awesome review now that I have a comparison. Do better Uhaul.

They definitely need some customer service training. When I arrived to pick up my truck I asked to confirm that I was getting a 17' truck... They told me they didn't have any left and that they had been booked up for weeks. I showed them my reservation confirmation and they were still rude. Turns out when I actually walked out to get in the truck it was in fact a 17ft truck and those guys are just unprofessional and don't really care.

Terrible service at the location 8809 128th St Surrey (Food Plus) were I picked up the truck. This includes: a.) When I called local contact on the day of pickup to confirm the truck was there he didn't answer b.) the truck cab was littered with garage. c.) I could barely see out the front window i.e. never cleaned d.) gas fill level on contract greated than actual amount e.) rep at location basically unfriendly and looked like he could care less about hat he was doing f.) after returning the truck he was unable to complete the contract, still waiting for confirmation via email. I like Uhaul but would "never "go to this location again.

So I thought I would take my chances even though I read the reviews... what a huge mistake!! These guys are a bunch of clowns. Called in the day before to make sure my truck would be ready, they said yes. Next day "sorry your truck won't start but if u want to go see it I can show you we have it". Also insulting me asking if I don't understand English, when u see them you would laugh at that comment. Had a HORRIBLE experience with the manager/staff over at the Lansing Rd U-Haul in Charlotte MI, I highly recommend the State St location more, they aren't rude and treat their customers with respect. I do multiple events a year, and need to use trucks a lot, and they just lost ALL our business.

Renting to other people under my name! This location rented out a unit to someone under my name! That person provided ID (which didn't match my info) they signed under their name on pick up and signed MY name at drop off! I received a receipt via email and called the location to try to understand how this was allowed. Spoke to Alyson and after explaining my issue she tried to blame it on identity theft! My wife asked Alyson how it was possible to allow to rent to just anyone just because they know my phone number or address and Ms Alyson decided to hang up on us! We called right back spoke Melissa who said Alyson was not available and when we asked for a manager she said she could only take a message and have the store manager (Mario Robinson) call back in twenty minutes...after half an hour ...no call!

They give you the truck with a half empty tank, so when you return the truck and fill it up completed then don't refund you any kind of money so they make $60 at least on you on top of the rent fees. This is not good business nor good customer services.

If I could give zero stars i would. I had never used a storage unit until June 2014 when i used this storage area after downsizing my home and moving. I stored furniture, appliances and music recording equipment at this unit and was paying over 200$ a month. No where in my paper work or was it ever verbalized to me that storage units are very prone to mice/rat infestations which by the way, are not covered by any insurance. So imagine my surprise when a month later i go to get a few things and there are rat dropping everywhere and my furniture has been shredded for their nesting materials. I was furious. If I didn't care if my belonging got ruined i would've left them outside with a tarp over them and saved myself the ridiculous storage fees! Then you have to go through their claims department which they advise you that if the owners of the facility make some effort in lowering the risk of vermin like setting out a few traps, they won't be liable. I am still waiting to hear back from my claim but i doubt i will get a penny. I was never offered a refund or lower rate or anything by the owners. They rolled their eyes when i complained like they are used to hearing it a lot. If you use ANY storage facility this is a problem they DO NOT tell you about ASK WHAT THEY DO TO STOP VERMIN ASK FOR PROOF TAKE PICTURES! SET YOUR OWN TRAPS AND CHECK YOUR UNIT REGULARLY! RIP OFF! REMEMBER! Your INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER THIS DAMAGE

My roommate and I ordered a 17' truck to move a week before the move out. On the day of the move, they canceled our reservation without even contacting us (gave our truck away to someone else), and they did not have any other vehicles available. They said a nearby u-haul had a vehicle available and they would call. We immediately went to that location, and they said they received no call from the other location, and they had no trucks available. Very poor business practices.

Had a bunch of problems with truck on drive from NYC to Chicago. Trying to deal with customer service for corporate Uhaul was a pain. The young guy who checked us in here in Chicago squared us away! I have used this location 4 times and would honestly recommend to anyone. It's a well-run operation, trucks/vans are in great shape, and the service is exceptional. The employees at service desk and lot have always been extremely helpful and professional. It is a great value if you follow their guidelines.... From the other reviews on this (probably early 20-somethings), make your reservations on-line (vs phone) and show up early AM (weekends are their busy time, obviously). This place is a rip off. I picked up a vechile yesterday and returned the vechile with the same amount or more than was given. They paper that they give that shows the gas estimate was incorrect. When i told the dispatcher i was he brushed it off and now i am left paying for something that i did not use. I drove 6 miles in total. When i called the representative was very rude and condisending. I would never recommend this place to anyone. .

I rented a vehicle late at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon, and returned at about 7:30. Prior to taking the vehicle, I mentioned to the rep that I would be dropping the vehicle off after closing, but I wouldn't be driving more than 15 miles or so. She said people do it all the time, and someone would contact me and let me know what my charges were. I actually drove a total of 12 miles and parked the vehicle at the location. . After not hearing from anyone on Monday, I called them to find out my charges. They charged me for 42 miles! After explaining to the representative that I am 200% positive about my mileage, she informed me that that is what they recorded! I believe they rented the vehicle on Sunday without recording that vehicles mileage and ended up finalizing my receipt AFTER! For anyone looking to drop off, make sure you take a picture of the speedometer, otherwise you may end up being charged more than you estimated!

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Employee / stated "manager" BETH is extremely rude, unprofessional, and uses inappropriate language with customers. She was threatening and tried to change our drop-off location for our Uhaul to be at this site - which was an additional 16 miles away from our apartment. (The nearest drop-off site was 3 miles away.) This woman, Beth, called us repeatedly and was threatening us. She stated that she wanted us to "go get the Uhaul and drive it" to her - after the Uhaul was already returned. This woman was highly unprofessional and verbally abusive. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. Needs to be fired ASAP.

I was on hold for over 30 Minutes to attempt to book a reservation. Nobody answered the phone - And i was forced to listen to this horrible hold music/advertising. I was really looking forward to using UHaul, as they did have a little bit of a better rate. But if they this unreliable when I am attempting to give them business, I could only imagine what would happen if I needed to reach somebody for a customer service issue. Very dissapointed - I will never use uHaul again - I will pay a little more and use Penske - At least they answer the phone.

Want to make this a 4 or 5 star rating! Want to make it right. I rented a truck some months ago and instead of 39.99 rental rate I was billed 79.99 for in town and when I asked I did not get an answer back so I had another Uhaul back in Kelowna look into and was credited the difference. I did not mean to pee these guys off but not hearing back was rough as I also dropped off cards for my move help business. Not now suggested since and ignored is just rough and not the way I handle my day to day operations in life. Mistakes can happen BUT ignoring outright is the absolute "pits" on how to handle things. Can I not be suggested for my move help as you said you would do for me face to face and will change my rating then. No apology also does not sit well either.

I had a hitch wired in Iowa City. After taking off my tail lights for a bulb replacement. I noticed that the installer had completely broke all but one tab on my left tail light. He also only put one screw back in. Found wires in my taillights that were completely cut for no reason. If you have a hitch wired at this place. Definitely check their work. Just the price of the tail light that they screwed up is going to cost me more than having the hitch wired.

The truck had been used by the owner to haul drywall and I didn't notice till we were loading. I said to my son someone hauled drywall in the truck and left a mess. Carried on loading. Returned the truck the same night as promised. I checked my bank account and found I was charged too much. I called and was informed that I was charged $25.00 cleaning fee for the drywall that the owner of the business which I rented the truck from had used and did not clean. I should have looked but I did not. That will not happen to me again

Jose (the manager) told me that he couldn't honor my reservation without charging me more money (requiring that I purchase the most expensive insurance) because he wouldn't make enough money on the transaction - I'm not kidding. I think their scamming customers with fuel. I checked out truck with a little less than 1/2 tank. They said was half. Not a biggy! I drove it 38 miles and added $15.00 in fuel. That was almost 7 gals. Their gas guage in truck was all over the place. When I put the fuel in, I took a picture of the guage and the mileage. When I dropped off and parked it, it said I had 1/4. I explained the issue with the guage and he said that the fuel must only be read at his place in the same spot. So, he charged me a additional $21.00 for not adding enough fuel. So...I paid $36.00 to drive 38 miles. Not Happy!

This location happened to be in the area we needed to start out, but we wish we had not held convince over quality. To start, the guy was 10 mins late when we had a schedual to keep. All the trucks happened to be in a gravel pit under trees. Upon inspecting the truck, we found that it was filthy inside and out and the back end was in a 3-5 inch puddle of water on both the floor and the attic and the attendant giving the comment: "well they make them water resistant, not water proof," which is an understandable comment but we shouldn't have to drive around with a lake in our truck. He made no offer to help clean the truck nor sweep out the water and seemed to be in a hurry to get us out. It was my girlfriends first time renting one and the guy said "sign here, initial here" not realizing that she initialed that the truck was clean. Many thanks to their customer service for helping the situation with credits otherwise this would of been an all out tragic first time experience. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION if you value your time and your buck!!!!!

RUDE SERVICE, UNETHICAL, ILLEGALLY CHARGE CREDIT CARD. Have used automatic credit card debit FOR 16 YEARS with this location. We received an email letting us know that charge did not go through (we were issued new expiration date due to Target credit card hack) We called the next day to give new credit card expiration to debit. Hannah acted like we were thieves (who don't pay bills), acted like a petulant teenager to 16 year customers who have given this business thousands of dollars. Her superior, Denise had NEVER spoken to us emailed an eviction notice and then our credit card was illegally charged a LATE FEE of $15 that in email says will be waived for those on autopay. NEVER in 16 YEARS have we been treated so badly by this company. UHAUL customer service was SHOCKED that our credit card was charged while we were on the phone DESPITE being told that we would dispute the charge.

Absolutely abysmal. Reserved a month in advance. Got a 'guarantee' from U-haul that a 26 ft truck was reserved. Turned up on moving day to discover that the guarantee is completely worthless. If a person doesn't return the truck that's booked for you on time, then they have no way to provide another one. Was given the option of going to Duncan to get a truck. Instead, I saw a much smaller truck on the lot (wasn't offered this) and managed to book it (it took 3 hours to get it and I was the only customer there). Also needed a trailer to make up the space, so the original $287 truck turned into a $431 truck+trailer. Bonus: I pre-paid for the original truck online and despite being told it was refunded, I just checked my credit card statement and it wasn't, so will need to sit on hold for another hour. Avoid at all costs. Use an alternative.

I've had my share of moving in my life and have used u-haul several times but nothing compares to the experience I had with these folks. Rented a truck for a day and got charged for 3. Took me a month to get a refund for just one day instead of two. Customer service is rude and very unwilling to help. Zero courtesy and flexibility to retain customers. This is the last time I'll ever use U-haul!!! And I'll discourage anyone I care about from going there. Did you know you can rent cargo vans, trucks from car renting companies like Avis, budget and co? Plus they don't charge you for mileage, you can drop off in a different location no charge, plus they are very flexible and accommodating. I must have had a brain fart the morning I went to uhaul to rent this van. Lost a customer and probably a couple dozens more!!!

I went into Storesmart Self Storage (it is a uhaul accredited location on 110 Bow Meadows Crescent in Canmore, Alberta) today to buy some moving boxes. The uhaul website has the boxes that I was looking at buying posted for $1.85 CAN each. I grabbed 10 moving boxes and got charged $45.05 CAN. That's $4.29+ taxes per box. The guy who was working said it was because of the exchange rate for Canadian/USA dollars...So I called uhaul and was informed that their boxes were priced at $1.85 Canadian dollars and definitely not $4.29. Whoever owns this self-storage buys the boxes and sells them under the storage company instead of through the uhaul sale system for WAY MORE than they're supposed to be sold for. I also almost forgot to mention that they don't allow you to rent a truck to drive away, they restrict your use to 24 hours in busy times and only for in-town use and have to be dropped back off at the self-storage after you're done with it. You cannot take the truck anywhere else.You can also forget to drop-off a uhaul at that location because they wont let you as they dont have space. STAY AWAY FROM THAT LOCATION AT ALL COST!!! YOU'RE BETTER OFF DRIVING TO CALGARY OR ORDERING ONLINE AS YOU CAN BE SURE THAT IT'S DIRECTLY FROM UHAUL!! THE SELF-STORAGE IS SCAMMING US BY USING UHAUL AS A WAY TO LINE HIS POCKETS!!!! Worst customer service I have ever had. Closing hrs on their phone system and website and even the contract said 7. I came in around 6:50 to return the uhaul and as I pulled in the workers were standing by the Bay Area, saw us, shook their heads, then walked In The bay and closed the doors and didn't come out to assist us! I finally sent my boyfriend inside cuz it was still open and they told him to just park the uhaul and that they would put it in the system tomorrow because they weren't going to return it today. I walked up and told them to at least give me a written statement saying I dropped it off cuz we did pull in before 7 and I didn't want issues and that I was not leaving without some confirmation. Granted I know we came in a little late and if the situation would of been handled a little more professionally by the employees I would of just left and returned the uhaul the next day If needed. However the 2nd employee came out and started yelling at me saying they weren't going to do anything we pulled up after 7 and so on. Words were said on my end, probably not as professional as I should of been but then again the employee had no right to come at me the way she did!! If she would of kindly came when we first pulled in and said hey sorry our systems just got shut down, then hey whatever I came a little late I understand. Unfortunately that's not how the situation happened.

Friendly, helpful, and positive staff. I've had a storage unit at this location for almost two years. I'm there on a regular basis, staff always waves or says hello. More than once I've walked in already in a bad mood or annoyed, and the manager Max (I believe) always does what ever he can to resolve the issue, he's always calm and polite, but much more importantly because of his helpful demeanor my initially poor mood dissolves. To put it simply, the staff are just good people.

Worst Costomer service and it was from Management! Max (the Manager) informed me that placing a hitch on my car would take approximately 3 hours. I dropped my car off and told him I would be in the area because I didn't have a ride. I came back 3 hours later not only was car not done they didn't even call me to tell me that they were having troubles with the wiring and would take longer. The Manager was rude and vague and it was like pulling teeth to get a time out of him so I can pick up my car. 3 and 1/2 hours later I have to call again only to find out it's still not complete. After 8 hours and no communication they said my car is ready. I go to pick up my car and the airbag light is on!!! They messed up the wiring In my car and told me to come back tomorrow cause it was late for them!!!!!! I should mention that I am 5 months pregnant and the UHaul representative at a different location informed me that my airbags could deploy at anytime!!! They just put my life and my unborn child's life at risk! Don't ever use UHaul for any services!!

I regularly rent trucks at this location Positive: great location, nice stuff, good fleet + supplies Negative: (pers. experience) one of the 2 places in BC with the longest wait times (the 2nd one is IKEA, Coq :) Was buying supplies - waited in line for 25 mins, came back next day to return 1 unused item - spent another 15 mins waiting.Total - 40 mins of life wasted to do a quick purchase/return. Maybe a self-service counter is an option for customers wanting to buy stuff?

I've rented a Moving Van several times over the years from U-Haul on Marine and had excellent service and price. I'm about to do so again. Except for sometimes slow attention (lines) at the Service Counter, the Staff did their best. Trucks were easy to drive, clean and affordable. I assume all will be as in previous times. Kindly, C. It is my first time to deal with Uhaul and it concerns getting a hitch trailer attached. It was a disaster!!!! The appointment was delayed twice because the hitch has not arrived -- even after there people called to confirm that appointments!!. And then when the hitch arrived - it cold not be installed as the hitch was defective/misaligned! The installer and the manager could not even tell that it was misaligned until I was told to a guy in Richmond who really does this for a living. Really?!?!?!?!?!?! For a company who's prime business is moving and selling hitches, they cannot even tell their product is defective???? What a joke of a company!

I went there several times for moving supplies and always received great customer service. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Even offer to take my purchased to my car. Really like their policy that when you over purchased boxes. All unused boxes in good condition with receipt you can get a refund back. I did and without any trouble. Would definitely go back for future moving supplies purchases.

Terrible customer service! Website is misleading about availability of trucks. I reserved a truck for a location near my home and after I reserved it the page said that a representative would contact me to find an agreed upon location. Days go by and I don't receive a call. So, I call them and after being transferred around to people in different cities for 30 minutes, I am told that the location that I had reserved does not have any available trucks so I will have to go across town to pick up another truck (leading to another $15 in mileage charges). It's too late now to find another reservation. I told the representative over the phone and she was completely unapologetic and even suggested that it was my fault that I wasn't contacted. Perfect example of a monopolistic business taking advantage of customers.

My parents, who are in their seventies and do not have a vehicle, booked a one-way rental from Marine Drive location. A day before they were to pick up the truck, they were told that they would have to go all the way to Delta to pick up the truck and were quite upset about it. I called U-Haul Marine Drive to see if there was any way the truck could be sent to Marine Drive or at least have a discount applied to cover the costs of a taxi to Delta, but the CSR did not sound like she cared about making things right at all. Not a good way to keep customers.

For the second time in a week I have been dealing with Faye at the Marine Drive location, already done the 1st leg of the move and she was wonderful, everything went off without a hitch, times, truck, help, drop off of truck at another location in another city - perfect. Just reserved another 15 ft truck, she again is being super helpful, answering my questions, giving me recommendations that will save a lot of money by hiring people on either end of the move and doing the drive/expensive long ferry ride ourselves. I can't say enough good things about this experience to date.

Incompetence, start to finish. I needed a hitch installed for a bike rack to take on vacation, plus wiring for a trailer later. I got a quote online one day, shopped around some more, then returned the next day to book it. The price went from the original $343 to over $700. I called the store and they couldn't understand why that would have happened but said they would honour the price. But, oh, there's no hitches in stock, though I can drive myself out to Port Moody where there is one and bring it back to them. I was in a pinch, so that's what I did. Went back for the install, and despite having very specifically told them my car make and model, the hitch that they had me go get didn't have holes that perfectly aligned with the holes on the underside of my car. The install guy was "not a mechanic" so he was unable or unwilling to drill additional holes to make it fit, So, one day before leaving on vacation, I now had to run around town to find somebody with the time and wherewithal to install this thing. The guy I did find did it in 15 minutes and could not comprehend what the difficulty was with the u-haul guy. U-haul Guy did do the wiring and did so at no charge. Which was nice, until his lack of a skill set reared its head a few days later. While out of town, I hopped in the car to take the kids out for ice cream after dinner. As I was driving I clued in to how dark the road was, the reason being that I had no head lights! U-haul Guy wired up for a future trailer and killed my headlights at the same time. So I get home after a week away and call the store to explain what happened. My question was, should I bring it in for your to fix or take it elsewhere and send the bill? The minion who answered the phone couldn't make that call so said he'd have his manager call me right back. Did he? Of course not. So three days later I call again. Go through the same explanation, get put on hold for five minutes, then am told "I'm transferring you to the manager right now." But he doesn't. He transfers me to some call centre that is totally unrelated to the store and the girl there receiving my wrath has no idea what is going on. She does, however, have the manager's cell phone number. I call Keith, but Keith doesn't answer his phone, nor does Keith check his messages, because Keith's inbox is full and I can't leave a voicemail. So I hang up and call the store again. I explain myself to now a third minion who tells me how great their service is and she'll help get this fixed but, alas!, all the managers are busy, so she transfers me offsite to a regional office. I'm farther from speaking to somebody who can help me yet again. The experience in the office on the day of the attempted hitch install was also chaos. U-haul guy spent probably half the time working on my car than I did standing in line waiting to get to the service desk at the beginning and end of my appointment. They were chronically understaffed for the amount of customers that were in there. Regional office promises me that Keith will call and this will all be fixed, which I am sure it eventually will be. But for the simple install of a hitch and wiring, despite relatively lower prices than alternatives, don't put yourself through the ordeal of going to U-Haul.

I cannot recall the last time I was this angry at a company. I reserved a 17' truck online for a June 5th move. Things went smoothly. Knowing that I was going to require another larger truck for June 18th, I reserved it well in advance. Well I arrive at 9am (scheduled time) to pick up the truck and they tell me that, not only do they not have the 20' truck that I reserved, the next size that they do have is a small van. I was livid. I will say honestly though that it was not the woman behind the counter's fault (friendly Brazilian woman), it was the national reservation system. Essentially she told me that the company overbooks (like airlines) and there were no more trucks. She said that a 17' truck would probably be available at 6:30 PM in North Vancouver or another one in Langley also in the afternoon. Of course this was unacceptable. Ultimately she advised me that there was a 10' truck reserved for someone at 7 AM but that they did not show up (at this point it's 10 AM) and she said I could rent this one. I advised her that it would take 2 - 3 times longer to move with a small 10' truck. She did the best that she could and offered me the following: waived the rental fee, charged $0.50 per KM instead of $1 and I ultimately received a $50 on my credit card. Of course with the smaller truck I had to make many more trips (4 instead of 1) which resulted in a lot more gas. Plus the fact that it took 12 hours to move instead of 3-4. Also, the 10' has no ramp. There were other people in the line who had also reserved trucks that were not available. This was a horrible experience. Like I said though, it was not the staff at this location's fault. This was/is a bigger, higher up issue.

I did not understand what happened with my booking. I saw a low cost while booking but paid around 50% more while returning the Van. They did not give a proper explanation about why it differed so much. They talked about per km charge; but the online booking system showed a lot of km already included. Interestingly, the number of free km got changed between my online booking and their paperwork. Something isn't right about their system.

Another unhappy U-Haul customer: Booked a 20' truck on April 29th for pick up on June 25th. Yes, almost 2 months in advance. Phoned U-Haul on 23rd to confirm the pick up time and location as they had not contacted me. They let me know that a truck would be available at my pick up location at noon on the 25th. I requested an earlier pick-up time and they said they would make a note and someone would contact me. Next day I got a phone call informing me that the truck would not be available at my desired location and the pick up time changed to 3:00 pm on Saturday. As I needed to load the truck and catch a ferry and was skeptical about the truck actually being available at 3:00 I requested they move my pick up time to 9:00 am Sunday morning. My thinking was - if the truck does show up on Saturday afternoon it should be available first thing Sunday morning. A Sunday morning pick-up would also be more time efficient than driving through rush hour on Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning we drive to the location. We got there early enough to be the first in line. At about 3 minutes to 9:00 I get a call from U-Haul. That's right. The truck isn't there. A truck that should have arrived the day before wasn't there. I was then informed that the truck would be there by 12:00. We left. Drive all the way across town. While on the phone talking to dispatch I got a call saying the people had brought the truck back early. Now 10:30 I get to drive back across town to pick up the truck. So much for trying to avoid traffic. I pick up the truck. I get a discount - wonderful. I don't get the furniture dolly that I had requested. If I had of known they didn't have one I would have dropped by work to pick one up. I've used U-Haul before, at least 3 times, with no major problems. This time it cost me. If you factor in the stress, two days lost wages because of delays, wasted gas and time spent driving to other locations and talking on the phone I would have been a lot farther ahead just booking a moving company.

The website let me book a 20' truck for my desired time at my desired location. It also let me hire moving help for my specified time period. I received a confirmation email the next day for a smaller truck at a different location and time from what I had originally requested. I called customer service, who promised me a 20' truck at the correct time, but at a this location. Two days later, I received a confirmation email for an even smaller truck at an even later time. When I tried to cancel my order, uHaul would not refund me the booking fee for the moving helpers that I had booked through their web portal. uHaul washed their hands of the whole thing, despite not being able to provide a truck during the time period I had booked the help.

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would. Literary the worst customer service that I have experienced in my ENTIRE life. They took my credit card and ID, disappeared for 15 minutes without telling me where they were going or what they were doing. When I had enough and yelled for some help, a young white male emerged in this disgustingly smoke filled place, gave me my card back and said "Take your business elsewhere." The place is a cigarette smoke filled office (which you are not let into), only talk through a small window (without seeing if they are copying your information for themselves or not), while a dog is barking at you at the same time. I filed an official complain with U-Haul. I hope they terminate their license for damaging the brand and treating customers like dirt. Newsflash! Without us, you don't have a business!

My girlfriend and I were moving out of our basement suite in a snowstorm and had a lot of troubles getting our uhaul trialer from another place. We ended up coming here and they gave us a big one right away with no issues. We underestimated how much stuff we had and couldn't finish in the one day we rented it for. We had all our stuff in it and they let us have it for another day even though they could have charged us $150 an hour that we were late bringing it back. Derek and Sulley are the guys who run the place and they are very understanding and helpful. A+++

We rented a couple units from here over the summer last year. Overall, I'm happy with this storage place. Friendly service and units are priced fairly. We did have one unit had some minor leaking, but luckily it was down the back wall and and didn't damage anything. Also the units seemed to have a humidity issue (too humid) and weakened several of our moving boxes. During the same time frame, we had another unit at a near by location and didn't those issues. However, this might be common issues with out door storage units.

We have not had a very good experience with this U-Haul Dealer. We went there on Friday to reserve a trailer for the following Friend February 26 and the guy was unable to reserve it because it was already rented out till Sunday February 21. He then told us to call on Sunday around 1 because that's when it would be back and so that's what we did. The young worker who answered our call on Sunday gave us attitude and told us he could not do reserves on weekends and for us to call back on Monday February 22. Today we called to reserve this trailer because we are moving a 3 bedroom home only to find out that the trailer already got rented out for the Friday of the 26 and there was nothing the lady could do about it. We are highly unhappy with this and will not be turning to this U-haul dealer for future business.

I had placed an order online to get a 17' truck and called the location just to verify that it was available and was assured it was. When I arrived the 17' truck had a dead battery and the guy refused to change it. So I had to settle for a 14' truck which ended up not fitting all my things from my apartment which defeated the whole purpose of renting a uhaul in the first place. After all of that he informed me that I have to return the uhaul to that same location which I was under the impression from the Uhaul website that I could drop it off at any uhaul which I had to drive clear across town, which increased my mileage cost tremendously because I had to drive an extra 20 or so miles. Also when I went to fill up the gas I filled up the recommended amount that was on the paperwork and the gauge did not move. So I went to talk to the guy about it and he said it had to be at the half way line, I drove back to the gas station and filled it up just a tiny bit more and all of the sudden the gauge jumped up to over 3/4 a gallon. When I brought it back the guy recorded the gas line at only 1/2 a tank, I tried arguing with him telling him to record it where the tank was actually at so I could have record of it and once again he refused. The man in charge could hardly speak English and I was unable to communicate with him. I am very disappointed with this company. I will not recommend this company to anyone I know.

Got my stuff out of storage here and there was a dead mouse behind some boxes with lots of mouse droppings. When i asked for a discount on what i owed which was about 2 months rent i was asked if i had storage insurance, which i didn't. I did have lots of anxiety after because i had to wash every bag of clothes that i had there. The staff had told me not to worry though because they would be gracious enough to clean up the dead mouse and droppings for me. The day we came to pick up the service was absolutely 10/10 we needed an extra day so we called the next day and got the rudest unhelpful person ever. She even tried to over charge us she shold not have a job that includes customer service. Thank god since we needed to keep the uhaul for a third day we got the same person from our first visit. I have used UHaul at several sites in the last few years. I used Lonnie and his staff about 3 1/2 years ago. Their storage units we rented for a few months and the service were great! The rental trucks which we used around town were all in good order. The trailer hitch we bought from him and had installed on our car has also worked well. The lady who installed it did a good job explaining the product. Although we are fairly well pleased with other UHaul sites in Oklahoma County which are now closer to where I live, I'll be choosing him and his crew for my next moving need which will be coming up shortly.

Its going on 5 days. Everyone promises to help and call you whether its in or not to save you the trouble of driving. Never got a single phone call. Horrible customer service! I rented a UBox from this location and confirmed the delivery time several times. The box arrived 5 hours after the agreed upon time, and nobody from the Ajax office bother to call and let me know about the delay. I had experienced the worst customer service ever in the Ajax location. Upon my arrival to pick up the moving truck, i was advised by the rep that instead of a return time of 5pm (as stated on my confirmation email) i was now to bring back the truck at 4pm. I showed her the email with the time promised and all she had to say was "I understand but if the truck is not back by 4pm, we will charge you $50" I explained to her that i based my whole schedule on what was written in the confirmation email, her response never changed from "i understand" Frustrated as I was with the terrible customer service and no notice I might add on the change of the reservation I had no choice but to take the truck until 4pm. Due to this I had to rent another cargo van from Home Depot ( as i refuse to give more business to UHaul) to complete my move as planned which ended up costing me more money then planned! I will never use UHaul for my move and will advise everyone to find a different company. The lack of commitment and customer service has guaranteed me to never return to UHaul again. Save your self the frustration & money and just rent from a different company !

Don't bother going here, they will charge you for mileage that you don't use and will give you less gas in your truck than what is reported even though they tell you they will adjust the rates. I did get a refund for the difference in mileage and gas from Uhaul's head office but not something everyone wants to go through. Conduct your business properly or not at all.

The trailer hitch they put on was a good price but took 4.5 hours to install and the wrong ball was put on, the shank on the ball was undersized causing the ball to come loose while pulling the trailer. I almost lost the trailer going across the 401! the interior panels were also not put back on properly. They replaced the ball with a new one. Not sure if I would recommend, friendly staff but .......

Reasonably fast service. Helped hitch our rental trailer for us and got us on our way. Beware the parking lot, it's very tricky and we had some near collisions because there are trucks and cans constantly being maneuvered within inches of each other. The store is very well stocked.

Its the worst ever place I ever visited. I booked the hitch much beyond the time with express freight charges to get it delivered on next day. I am about to join new job. But at the last moment U-Haul ditched me stating that the hitch I booked is given to somebody else and they cannot see the express delivery charges on the bill. The worst part is their manager onsite who was very rude and said the hitch is in ontario and go yourself to get it, further if you want to make a complaint do it. Very unethical behaviors by U-Haul manager. Because of U-Haul I have to dump everything here and go alone without my stuffs to my new job.

I returned a trailer here. The lot is supposed to be a 24 hour drop-off, so you just drop it off. A week later, I get an invoice indicating I was several days late, and that the trailer was 'buried behind the others'. If someone had been doing their job, they would have come in the next day, seen the trailer, and recorded it as returned. The only bright spot was that a manager (eventually) got back to me and removed the late charge.

This place was absolutely wonderful today. Takeya was so wonderful and skilled and did not give up on helping me to get home safe and sound. She turned a nightmare situation in a solved issue with grace, professionalism and such coolness! This company has a true asset with this lady and I will forever be greatful to her. The worst experience I have ever had. A employee at this location almost wanted to fight us because their was no parking and we parked in a different area and got cursed out for it. Any body inquiring about rental, storage or any other services don't bother. It was so embarrassing being there.

This is the worst Uhaul in the area. I rented from here in their website, and the place was closed (Sunday). I had to call them, only to be redirected to another store, that had absolutely no information about my order.

Manager hires auto technicians with no experience in installing a hitch and fires employee the same day. We had an 8: 30am appointment with U-Haul to drop our Grand Caravan to have hitch put on and was told by Patricia the hitch would take only an hour to install. We stayed close by and ran errands with family in tow and called to follow up 2 hours later and was told the van was still not ready and they would call me shortly. We ended up running more errands and ate lunch nearby waiting for a phone call from Uhaul, and never recieved a phone call. After lunch, we drove over to U-Haul (5 hours later) and the van was still not ready! The manager at Uhaul, Ed Hollins was installing our hitch when he realized his employee had not idea what he was doing. Ed told my husband that the employee who attempted to install our hitch was in training and was new. He also stated that he was firing him. Ed took our vehicle for a drive and something didn't feel right. Manager Ed admitted to breaking the leaf springs when the hitch was installed. He did not realize the hitch installs where the leaf springs are located. Ed unbolted the leaf springs and could not put them back on. He advised us to bring our van elsewhere to repair the damages and install the hitch properly. My husband requested a reimbursement after in the amount of $128. So, six hours later and still no hitch installed and our van has damages done by Uhaul. Ed told us we need to get the car repaired somewhere and the hitch installed and he would pay for the damages that he caused. We made some phone calls to locate a place close by to install the hitch properly and fix the leaf springs which the U-Haul employee broke. Tire Kingdom located in Sanford took another 2 hours to get to our van, but they installed the hitch within 30 minutes and repaired our vehicle. So an entire day ( 9.5 hours to get the hitch installed properly and it wasn't even done by Uhaul. My husband was told at the tire place Uhaul staff bent our hitch frame and threaded a bolt. We scheduled another day with Manager Ed at Uhaul to put a new bolt on our vehicle because the one that came with the hitch was threaded off. This has now become a safety issue. Ed schedule another day for us to drop our van off. After 24 hours we pick up the van and look at the work that was done and E's auto technician did a shaddy job using a white compound glue to seal a black piece of plastic with a dummy bold attached to the end to appear that a new bolt was replaced. My husband called Ed to tell him what his technician did and we also put in a complaint with Uhaul's corporate office. This place is scam and they do not know what they are doing. Ed hires employee without experience and has made this whole experience a hassle. They should hire a new manager who knows what they are doing.

Horrible experience, got a storage unit and when I brought my 2nd load was locked out, so I had to pay my help and hire new help ,take off work the next day all because a serious lack of communication, the lock the gate at closing, i missed it by 15 minutes, however if I had known none of this would've been a problem, sad part is the manager nor customer service manager called ke the following day,will be moving out promptly, its just sad that U-Haul has lost its customer service, I've spent thousands over the past 3 year's and will not substitute cheap for customer service ever again, thanks for the loss of my time and money u haul

NO PROFESSIONAL. THE RESERVATION NEVER WORK. YOU HAVE TO WAIT LIKE AN HOUR, EVEN IF U HAVE A RESERVATION. PLEASE CHECK TWICE WHEN THEY INSTALL YOUR TRAILER THEY DON'T DO WELL, YOU CAN HAVE A FATAL ACCIDENT. I KNOW THEY CAN DO A BETTER JOB SPECIFIC THE MANAGER. , SORRY I HAVE TO BE HONEST, THANKS.

Be very careful with this dealer. He will not book you a truck when you call. I highly recommend that you contact UHaul directly to book a truck and then call him with the reservation number. We called 1 month prior to our move, and his response was to call back closer to the date and he said that we may need to drive to Powell River to pick-up the truck (and we would need to pay for ferry costs). We called one week prior to our move (he could not remember who we were) and asked us to call back in couple of days, as he does not know if he will have any trucks. We called back the next day and he said that he does not have any trucks and there are no trucks anywhere near Vancouver, so we will need to drive to Power River. Frustrated, we called North Vancouver and we got directed to the central UHaul reservation system and they booked us a truck directly in Sechelt, but it was a larger truck than we wanted because "of the short notice". So this dealer did NOT even book us in the central system in any way and lied about not having any trucks. He was angry that we went directly through UHaul as he wanted to give that truck to a "buddy" of his.

This place is a ripoff. I had rented a trailer from texas to be returned to the same location in texas but while in syosset, N.Y. A guy named Tom that work's at this location had promised me that instead of hauling the trailer all the way back to texas, I could just leave it there for a additional $164. He was a little pushy about it but it sounded like a good deal so I did only to find out after returning to Texas, Tom entered me into a promise agreement without my approval that states I agree to pay uhaul around $500 for leaving it at the wrong location. This guy is a conartist and a thief. I will no longer use uhaul and I advise anyone not to use this location.

I had no complains. Reserved the truck, got the truck. I able to extend the drop off time and add another trolly. I can see how things get out of hand on a big moving day but on a regular Saturday I have nothing to complain. Maybe a note: the trucks use A LOT of fuel. I can see how people think they are cheating when they need them to fuel up. I did it myself and I was shocked how much fuel I used.

Ordered a van online and they said they didn't have any left so they upgraded me to a truck. I didn't think it was an upgrade because the truck used more gas but turns out my stuff would probably not have fit in a van alone. So it was a blessing in disguise. The store itself is small and quiet. They do have a large selection of vehicles to choose from, though.

I had an order booked for a week. They changed it HALF AN HOUR before my scheduled pickup time to a location on the opposite side of town. Don't bother with these jokers. Just go to the one on rt 16. They have always been 100x more helpful.

I have used them for truck and trailer rentals, hitch and wiring installations, and troubleshooting wiring issues since I moved to Clarksville in the 80's. No one is perfect, but these people are ready, able and willing to help. They keep later and more hours than other uHauls and it has always been a pleasant experience dealing with them. I don't know names, I can't recall any time I have been disappointed with their service. Mike G.

I called to order a hitch wiring kit and they set up an appointment for me before the kit was even scheduled to arrive. I was planning on towing something the next day so my plans were ruined and I wasted a trip to their store. They offered no solution or compensation. Terrible service. Do not give them your business.

Excellent Service! Convenient location (Parkway/Hwy 97 @ Revere exit) which is easy to get in and out of even with largest moving trucks. Fast check out. They also carry boxes tape and other moving supplies.

Had a trailer hitch installed on my Toyota Tundra two weeks ago and had no problems at all with the quality of product or service. I rented the largest U-Haul trailer available; it and my truck were loaded! I couldn't have asked for a more trouble-free move, and the service on both ends was excellent.

My experience was awful. When I made my arrangements over the telephone the week before I needed the truck, I was expecting an email confirmation. When I still didn't have it two days before my intended pickup date, I called to find out that the reservations was entered but the days were wrong. In addition, I had worked out a drop-off deal with the girl and apparently that wasn't going to be honored either. These people are so bound by company policies that are NOT customer friendly. Next time I'll definitely be looking at one of their competitors. No help from Dexter the Manager .. all he did was spout the company mantra. Stay away from U-Haul.

Mechanically the hitch was installed well. The wiring for the electric trailer brake was poor. The wires were dragging on the road under the car when I got home. I took the car back and they cable tied the wiring to the brake lines under the hood. I had them re-done a year later at another hitch place.

GORGIA, THE MANAGER WAS THE PERSON TO BOOK MY STORAGE UNIT. I HAD CALLED IN ON THE 6TH TO RESERVE/MOVE IN FOR THE 14TH. SHE PUT THE MOVE IN DATE AS THE DATE I CALLED TO BOOK IT THERE FOR IT WAS CANCELLED AND NOW I AM OUT A STORAGE UNIT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MOVING INTO IN 2!!!! DAYS. SHE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND TALKED DOWN TO ME COMPLETELY OUT OF LINE. AFTER CALLING INTO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BEING TRANSFERRED BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN 5 DIFFERENT PEOPLE I WAS FINALLY CONNECTED WITH A LADY NAMED NOELLE SHE WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND WILL BE CONTINUING TO HELP ME UNTIL THIS SITUATION IS RESOLVED. GOING THRU SHE IS SEEING THAT THE STORAGE WAS NOT BOOKED PROPERLY SHE PUT MY MOVE OUT DATE AS THE DAY BEFORE I CALLED INTO BOOK IT? NOT SURE HOW THAT WORKS, BUT AT LEAST THERE IS STILL SOME GOOD PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WILLING TO GET DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THINGS INSTEAD OF MAKE YOUR EXPERIENCE NEGATIVE. THIS MANAGER IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND HAS BEEN REPORTED. ENJOY. JUST BECAUSE YOUR A MANAGER DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO BE A COMPLETE COW.
