When my tire blew out, Pep Boys was the closest shop to obtain a repair. I went to the Pep Boys on McFarland Avenue in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Chris attempted to ring up my bill without allowing me to see the bill. I refused to pay until I reviewed the bill. He had deliberately padded my bill for $60 by adding a road hazard and service contract, add-ons that were never ever mentioned, discussed or agreed to. After I left there, and was researching Pep Boys online, I learned by purchasing 2 Falken tires I was entitled to a free oil change, which they deliberately concealed from me, to rip me off.

I took my car in to be serviced at the Pep Boys on 11/27/15 specifically for the roaring noise on my vehicle. They did an evaluation check on my car and told me that I needed a sway bar which was worn and new tires, etc. I mentioned that I specifically wanted to fix what was contributing to the noise and the associate told me the sway bar needed to be replaced so I said go ahead and replace that then and I would wait on the tires. Now that I know...word to the wise women sway bars don't make the noise I described it was keeping. When I got my car back it was still making the same noise and I took it back and then they said it was maybe the wheel barring but test drove it supposedly the second time and said it's the tires making the noise.

My boyfriend and I took my mother's 2001 Volvo to get a set of tires and an alignment. The car had absolutely nothing wrong with it when we dropped it off. When I picked it up the power on the driver's side does not work!!! I called them, they wanted me to take it back but I didn't want to because I went for tires and they broke my mom's door!! I was afraid they would do more damage! Please help me!!

I went in to Pep Boys for an oil change. They offered me a $20 rebate if I used Mobil 1 oil, so I did. The first problem when I came to get my car was they wanted to charge me for 11 quarts of oil. My car can only take 7 quarts. The service guy was adamant that my car took 11 quarts. He finally went and asked the actual guy that did the oil change and he admitted he only used 7 quarts. The second problem is that I submitted for the rebate and after a few weeks I checked the status of the rebate and I was told that the Mobil 1 oil doesn't qualify for the rebate and I would not receive the $20. I've had other issues with Pep boys overcharging in the past but this one is the straw that broke the camels back. I will NEVER go back again.

On 08/02/2015, return vehicle to Pep Boys for failure of the air condition unit on 1995 Ford Explorer. On 08/03/2015, I was informed by David ** (service manager) that another leak check was performed, estimated repairs would cost $1000.00 + to repair, after having this service perform then repair done on 06/15/2015 in the amount of $283.53. Pep Boys has limited warranties on their parts and services for 90 days or 4000.00 miles. Called Mr. ** then asked to be reimburse for the service fees and parts on 06/15/2015 for air conditioning services that failed. Mr. ** refuse to reimburse these fees contrary to limited warranties for parts and services. Also, a wheel alignment was supposedly performed that I did not request not authorize nor appears to have been done for this vehicle in the amount of $89.99.This matter is being investigated and waiting on arbitration decision.

I took my vehicle to Pep Boys Manchester, NH for a leak in the cooling system. They stated the radiator was not bad yet but needed replacement. The water pump was also suggested to be replaced. I had them do the job and it took 3 days. I received my vehicle on the 3 day and less than 24 hours, I hear a clanking that got louder and louder as the engine was idling. I called Pep Boys and they gave attitude. They said it was a "whole new problem" over the phone. I brought it in and the manager stated the water pump belt was loose and the bolts around the pump had loosened due to the vibration of the engine. It was THEIR fault and I lost another day of work.

My wife took car in for set of tires. Ever since I have been putting air in them, my wife took them there five times and they put glue on the beads, checked them again cause they still leaked. I finally talk to the service manager [**] he came out with my aluminum rims were defected. He said for me to bring the jeep back and I said why cause they had seen it five times already??? If I'm not mistaken Illinois has a lemon law. Store#479 - 5222 touhy ave. Skokie il. 60077. And 200.00 for a battery, 480.00 for a starter with guarantee [I replaced last week and paid 89.99 for at O'reillys]. I hope they will do what's right... I'll let you know.

Sometime last year I took my car back to Pep Boys for the manager's special oil change. Now I'd been bringing my car to Pep Boys on and off all last year. So, two weeks after my oil change, my car springs a leak and now the oil and the antifreeze are now mixing in my car making this liquid coming out of it looking like milk chocolate. When I call up there, they're like, "Yeah you've blown your transmission now, it's be cheaper just to get another car." I'm like, "2 ago my car was fine, I hadn't drive anywhere but to work which was like 10 minutes up the street from my house." I'm convinced they did something to it, because I hadn't had any trouble up until then. So I ended up having to trash the entire car, and get another one. That one was already paid for, so now I'm with a car note for the first time in like 20 years.

I went in because my car had hard miss. Codes 300, 306 and 304 came up. This required coil 6 & 4 to be replaced. When I received a call from Cesar to inform me of this he also mentioned that I needed my throttle body to be clean because it was dirty and full of gunk. I declined this service and again he stressed that it really needed to be done due to the dirt and grime built up. Again I declined this service. I decided to drive down there as it was around the block from my house.

I had an appointment at 12 pm. They started to work in my car at 12:45 pm after I told the manager that I have to go back to my work at 1:00 pm. I was watching the guys from the window. They were talking more than working with my car to replace one tire and they didn't do balance for my tire because they were very busy talking. They don't do their job right although they charge me for installation and balance $28, so I advise everybody you have to know what they are doing exactly for your car because they charging you extra money without working. Once I asked the manager about the balance including the balance he said "yes". I told him "Please ask them if they do it or not." They said, "Sorry we forgot and give us 2 seconds to do it," and I am late for my work so I am not do anything with Pep Boys. They don't have any responsibility with the customers.

When we first came to Pep Boys, it was on behalf of our car stopping in augusta. Once we got there, Mr. ** the manager played deaf and would make black people constantly repeat themselves. Soon after that a man named Jake said he would take a look at our car and after some time, Jake returned to tell us that the tensioner for the timing belt was stuck and caused the belt to break. He showed us the tensioner but he did not show us the alleged broken belt. He told us that it would be 316 to order the parts but 932 in total to repair the problem because he would order a timing belt that came along with a water pump and he tried to dress it up by stating that it would be a wise decision to replace what was already a brand new water pump along with the timing belt, saying that it tends to go bad after replacing the timing belt. My mother agreed and he told us that he was leaving and would finish the job tomorrow.

I was on my way out of town when my car cut off so I was towed to Pep Boys in Franklin, Ohio where they told me I needed a crank sensor. They kept my car overnight and I picked it up the next day but they didn't even give me my old part back. A week later my car cut off again and this time they said the timing belt broke and it cut off the same way it did before. Mind you I had all new parts on my car. I had it towed to Pep Boys on Gordon Highway in Augusta, Georgia and they said my pistons were bent the next day and they said it would be 2,010 dollars and that was only for diagnostic testing but it would cost more for each piston that was bent.

Me and my husband went to Pep Boys for a new set of tires, and we ended with a transmission oil tube broke. After that they told us that they going to fix it. So we have to came back, and yeah they fixed it but now they broke the muffler. We just went to get a set of tires and we ended with all this. Totally not recommend.

Not so long ago I went into Pep Boys for a routine oil change. Everything seemed fine. I paid and then drove off when they told me they were done. About a week or so later my oil pressure light came on and flashing. I went to check my fluids, and found that my oil was not there. It was bone dry. I paid 59 dollars for nothing but for them to empty my oil tank. I thought I was mistaken and assumed ok well maybe it's a little but nothing was in there. Not a drop. This happened while I was on the road. Could have blown my engines gaskets or worst costing thousands. My advice. If you get work done ask for your parts back so it's proof they changed it out and if you get an oil change here make sure you check your oil before you drive off. That will save you time and money. Perhaps this was a mistake. I don't know.

Was at New Jersey, Jersey City Pep Boys near 440. Already knew what the problem was for my car but they still wanted to inspect it and see if it was really that, so I let them. They did a suspension test at first which made no sense because there was nothing wrong with that and they told me the same thing. So they did a front-end check and after checking it out, they pulled out a bunch of BS and in total they tried to charge me $1300 for a $100 job.

I took my car to check at Pep Boys and they came up and told me that if I didn't fix it right away I could get kill from my car so I apply for a credit card with them and they were supposed to fix my car. But, two month later the same thing was happening. So I went back and their stories change. Now there was more things wrong. So, why they did not tell me the same day I got the car supposedly fixed? Now they wanted 1,700. So now I want a refund to my card.

I took my Corolla 2010 to change the broken Dipstick tube, initially they quoted by saying that the gasket would also be required to be changed and they estimated 2 hours for the service. Later on they found out that they only needed to change the Dipstick tube and they called me in just 30 minutes that the car was ready. I contested that I should pay for 1 hour labor charge. The guy on the counter replied, "Well we could have told you to pick the car 4 hours later and would have charged you for that much time". And he also added that initial estimation is industry standard and I will have to pay for 2 hours of labor charge. I paid that reluctantly but not sure if I should have.

In Oct 2015 I took my Volvo 740 turbo in for a fuel pressure regulator R&R. They towed my car to another location & promised me no charge. Four days later they replaced the two bolt part & charged me $520.00. I reluctantly paid it then went to the next Pep Boys by LAX & asked them how much to R&R the fuel pressure regulator. They said $163 out the door. I contacted Gus, the manager of Santa Monica location and advised him I was overcharged $367 for the repair. He offered to credit me "but to keep it between us". A huge red flag, but I didn't make issue at the time... A few months later I went to redeem my credit and was told he no longer worked at Pep Boys. So I took it up with new manager. I'll continue this review shortly...

I purchased a set of tires in 2013. I return to Pep Boys with a broken belt in one of my tires. When they could not find the replacement tire they told me that they would not honor the warranty. The only thing they offered was a discount on a new set of tires that I did not need. Having no other recourse I decided to write this note in the hopes that no one else ends up with the same problem. Beware of the boys.

My daughter has my car towed to local pep boys after calling pep boys 800 number and being offer a 19.99 fee for towing as long as car was being delivered to pep boys for service. I called them to confirm they had call and status. The manager said i needed to buy a battery because the cars battery was dead before he could do diagnostic on car which would cost $89.50 I told him the battery in car was brand new, but could have it replaced as defective which I did and had battery delivered to shop by my son-in-law the next day a Sunday.

Service department at store #730. My family was traveling across California to Utah when our battery started having trouble. We stopped at this store where it was advertised to have free battery checks all over the walls (why advertise it if it is such an inconvenience). We asked to have someone to come out and check the battery and was told they were too busy to help. I work at a service center and I understand being too busy. I get it but, we were willing to wait until someone had a second to check it. I was very concerned driving across the desert with my young child. I needed a little bit of help to feel more secure. I have checked batteries at our service center and it takes just a few minutes of their time to help someone traveling through.

I had to go to Atlanta because my son was admitted to the hospital. On the way the rim of one of my tires became displaced. I took the vehicle in, had to order another rim, which only took a day to get. The next day I asked if they could also replace the rotors and brake pads, for which I already had purchased prior (new ones in the back seat of the truck). I figured not to hassle with it on my next day off work and just let them install them. I was charged $126 for them to replace the front brake pads and $178.50 to replace the back. Keep in mind, that is $304.50 for all four sets of pads, just labor, not including the price of the pads or installation of the rotors.

I went to pep boys on Sunday at 11am on 10/4/2015. I ask the man at the desk how much it will cost to put breaks on all my wheels. He gave me a price I said OK. I then asked him if they could do it on that day he said yes. But we had cars ahead of me and that they could get to my car in an hour and a half I said "OK, I will wait." So two hours passed by I got up to stretch my legs and I notice my car was still in the front of the store where I parked it. So I waited another thirty minutes then got up again and my car was still there. I went to the guy at the desk and asked him how much longer he said he didn't know because all the guys that works on the cars went to lunch. I told him "I couldn't wait any longer, give me my keys" and left. I won't ever go to a pep boys again the one on 240 and walker in Oklahoma city!!!

It took three hours for them to put a tire on my car! Which they end up not doing! They had the worst, terrible customer service I've ever experienced in my whole entire life! Don't tell me what tire to fix. I'm paying you to do a service and you can't even do that simple task! Firestone was 100,000 times better!

I have been a loyal customers for over 30 years, in California. When I moved to Las Vegas, I was ripped off. Approximately 2 months ago, I brought my classic car 66 Dodge Dart GT to Pep Boys on 4670 E Tropicana Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89121 to adjust the points on my car manually. The car was running great, to the point where ** (General Manager) offered to adjust the timing for free. Then came along an old hillbilly named **, who's supposedly was the big kahuna for classic cars. Said that I should go to SoCal, a high-performance parts store, and purchase an electronic ignition and a new coil for $250. After I purchased the parts I came back to the store and found out that ** was sent home for arguing with management. I made an appointment for another day and ** was not was not there for my appointment that day.

I went to PepBoys @ 506 S. Decatur Blvd. in Las Vegas Nevada. They sold me a power steering pump for 86.00 for my car (I had to buy it because they did not have time to do the work and I needed my car). So I paid 200.00 to a mobile mechanic to come to my house to replace the part. It worked great for a week or so then my son noticed he had to keep putting fluid in it. So he took it back to Pep Boys to find out what was wrong. They told him to come back the next day for a diagnosis. He went back and paid 25.00 for a diagnosis. They said the power steering cap needed to be replaced - the seal was bad so he went to Friendly Ford and purchased a new cap for 30.00.

First off, let me say I have not only had a horrible experience with one Pep Boys, but with upwards of a half dozen stores all the way from the Midwest to the west coast. Every single location was an awful experience, only to be exceeded every time by the next experience at Pep Boys at a different location. Let me begin with my experience in Indiana, where a simple break job turned into 4 visits, with damaged rims, lugs and shotty brake work, which eventually failed driving through California, causing them to fail driving up and down steep mountains.

It is unfortunate that there is no AutoZone store near me. The only auto store we have is Poop Boys. I CONSTANTLY run into advertised items that cost more than advertised. Today there was a special on Castrol Edge synthetic 5-qt. + Fram Extra Guard filter for $32.99. When I go to the register with EXACTLY those items, it comes up $33.49. I bitched. Turns out there's really fine print at the bottom that says the deal is based on filters costing $4.99 or less. Apparently their Fram Extra Guard filters are $5.49 -- $0.50 higher -- so the tally came up $33.49. I know it's only 50 cents, but if you advertise oil with a Fram Extra Guard filter for $32.99. . . it should cost $32.99. What it comes down to is DO NOT TRUST ANY AD IN THEIR FLYERS. If you pick up EXACTLY what they advertised, go to the register and find out it ain't the price they advertised, leave it on the counter and walk out!

I was very disappointed with the manager and staff at Pep Boys in Orange Beach, Alabama. My friends and I stopped for assistance after hearing a screeching sound coming from the right front tire on my vehicle. After being there for over four hours, I was given an estimate of around $600 for repairs. I was told they would need to replace the rotar, brake pads and possibly the caliper . The manager used very inappropriate foul language with us when trying to persuade me to let them do the repairs. My friends and I felt uneasy about the situation. We had a friend (certified mechanic) to come and see what he thought we should do. He realized that Pep Boys were trying to make unnecessary repairs. He then told the manager to put the tire/ wheel back on so he could take it for a second opinion. After doing this, the manager dropped a pebble on the counter and said, "This was your problem." After removing the tire/wheel, the pebble had fallen out. This was the cause of the screeching sound that we had heard. We drove around 400 miles home without any problems with the car. The next day I took my car to a local mechanic shop and had it checked out to see if the pebble had damaged it in any way. There was no damage at all. Pep Boys had just tried to take advantage of three ladies who were traveling and trying to return home. Please be aware of this business if you are in the Orange Beach area.

Do not make any purchases from Pepboys.com. When you checkout and use site to store they will require you provide them not only your credit card number and security code they will also give you an incorrect total. Even though they also require you provide them your address and phone number, and they are fully aware of where the local store the purchase will be shipped to, the total they will give you will not include any applicable sales tax. The website obviously has lazy ITs who do not want to make the effort , or possibly do not know how to program the checkout procedure, to include applicable sale tax. It’s probably the later. Also, be prepared to get another surprise when you go into the local Pep Boys to pick up the purchase. You will find out that the credit card number and security code you provided them online was never used and they will want to run the card locally. Now you’re in two different databases, the national data base for Pepboys.com and the local data base. Wow, now you have a double chance of having your credit card defrauded. Go to a reputable website who have knowledgeable ITs to make your automotive purchases. Pepboys.com have nothing but incompetent idiots working for them.

I was in today 4/19/15 and was very disappointed with the customer service checking out. This is a review on the older man not the female she was very friendly. The older man with the white beard was very rude, I asked a question about getting the advertised price on oil and was treated like I was trying to get one over on him . This is not ok. In my opinion he has no business being in customer service this location in wheat ridge CO needs a new leader. The female that was at check out before him was good but when he came over he ruined my experience and am considering not going back.

Pep boys in West Chester has got to be one of the worst stores ever for management and customer service. As a frequent shopper at the store I've had several disappointing trips but I'm going to tell about our last 2 experiences. My wives battery died and left her stranded at work. Understandable batteries die, things happen. The battery was less than 1 year old. Having bought a new battery where she was stranded a replacement was unnecessary. I brought the battery in to Pep Boys, they put it on the charger for 30 minutes or so and said the battery is holding. If the battery didn't hold the charge I would be refunded. I told them the battery failed my wife once I do not want the battery. I asked the employee if they would put this battery back into their wives car? Nope. They told me too bad, I am going to have to eat it. So I went to get the core money back and was told I can't have the money for a reason I am still not certain of. While trying to clearly understand the reasoning the BOSS, as referred to by another employee, told me to "take the battery and leave." Seriously that's how it's handled? So the previous experience went like this. My wife had a flat tire so I changed it and put the donut on. She went into Pep Boys to have the tire repaired/changed earlier the next morning. The manager was at the service desk, she told them she needed a tire changed. She was told they do not do that here. Pep Boys doesn't change tires? She left and went to Pep Boys in Exton where they did it free of charge. Do we really have to drive an extra 10 minutes to go to the same store? So in conclusion I will not be a frequent shopper at Pep Boys in West Chester no longer. I would advise anyone who reads this the same.

I took my Honda Accord in for front break replacement. They told my I needed new rotors. Job cost $400 + tax. I declined and took it to Honda the next day. No new rotors total job was $250 + tax. My immediate thought was that I had been ripped off when I took my Nissan Maxima in for the same work a month prior. I had the rotors replaced, which was - I see now - probably not necessary. I'll never go back.

My husband took the car in for a flat tier and it turned out it was not fixable. We had to get a new set of tiers which cost almost $ 1000. We didn't have time to compare the price since the car needed to be fixed right away. The wait time was long, almost 3 hours. But the wait was comfortable, the store had WiFi available and people were nice. Since we didn't have appointment and it was an emergency service, I think it was not too bad.

My wife took her car to Pep Boys in Amherst, NY for an oil change and they overfilled it by 1 quart. She returned for a NY State Auto Inspection where they insisted she needed a new serpentine belt. At about 36,000 miles it was pristine and they backed off. She drove the car about 3000 miles before the next years inspection. Miraculously a brake line started leaking so i got involved and they backed off. I took my car there for an inspection and somehow a front caliper was damaged by them. I asked for the part to inspect but they lost it. Next year I did a preliminary inspection and took it in. I told them I would wait for it. They had two cars ahead of me and I waited four hours until their manager approached me and demanded to know why I had been it their store so long. I told him I'm a customer waiting for the car that has been onthe rack for over three hours. They tried the serpentine belt approach or the vehical would fail. I told them to print it on the invoice but they decided it was immediately acceptable to pass. They were the only convenient shop then but happily not now. Bye Pep Boys.

I advise anyone from Gulf Breeze Florida to avoid our local pep boys. They are in my opinion-crooks! They are highly overpriced and complete idiots. Went in to have a few things done and came out with a broken car!! Don't even bother complaining to the district manager he is just as shady. There are plenty of other reputable places in this town, I regret ever stepping foot in that place.

I went in on 12/24/11 to have my master cylinder replaced and by brake fluid exchanged. When I picked up my car at the end of business day (they closed at 6pm, I was there at 5:27pm) there were multiple new problems with my car. Here is a list of the new problems I am facing:- Tachometer and Speedometer now goes to highest number available when starting the car- Odometer back light does not stay lit at 100%. When I turn my vehicle off, it goes back down to the minimum brightness and remains there until I readjust it.- Dome light no longer turns on manually or when I open the car doors- Electric locks no longer open the doors with my alarm key fob or by the door controls. The only time the door control will work is when the engine is running.- Stereo no longer works. It doesn't turn on, the digital clock is not on.When I told the guy working when I picked it up (Aaron and Omar - both very nice) they said to come in on 12/26 and they would fix it no charge (of course). I went in to speak with the service manager on 12/26/11 - Mike Barron. He stated that the problems I am now having do not have anything to do with the service I went in for and if I want them to look at I can leave my car overnight so they can look at it and give me a quote. I let him know that I should not have to pay for anything and he said that wasn't his problem. I continued to try to talk but he walk away from me.I went in with a working vehicle and I expect to have a working vehicle when I leave. This has been the very worst experience. I have been a Pep Boys customer since I got my very first car 10+ years ago. I am still trying to figure out what my next steps are regarding this situation....

I have gone to Pep Boys for years. Had many problems new?? tires blowing out in 2 months the other one started to split had to stop and get spare put on at the closest place I could find. The tire dealer said it looked like a re-cap. I bought them as new tires, how can this happen? They did replace all of them with a better grade of tire. Then the battery was only 6 months old and a cell went out in it. A while ago my engine light came on and I went into Pep Boys and they did a test for '$100.00 The quote was over $950.00. The car is only worth $500.00. I live on a fixed income no way could I afford there charge. I called a friend at Auto Zone and he referred me to AAmco. Same work done for under $350.00.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while now. I both shop online and at their store. It was pouring rain and I needed new wipers. I bought from the store and the guy installed it for me outside in the rain no less. 5 star service.

A rider or a car enthusiast may love this site. I don’t think anyone else may love this site so much. This site deals with car accessories. PepBoys delivers the parts of a car as ordered by their customers. Thus you cannot find any good articles to know about a brand new car in this site. This is only for business.

I went to get two tires. They would not put my tires on the front of my van like I wanted. I left without getting the tires. They told me that the tires had to be put on the back. My tires were fine on the back.

Horrible service...went poor in new hubs and bearings. They have me back the car pulling bad steering wheel not straight, after they so called did the alignment...any way the manage was pissed cause i took it back. Long story short three days later and they couldn't do the alignment still posted for the service with no compensating for not being able to do alignment and also broke two rear door window guard.

I was very impressed with the PEPBOYS in Lodi NJ on 153 rt 46 W The first thing that I noticed was that the place was sooo clean it was immaculate, I"ve a few bad experiences in their competitors shops, when it was sooo dirty I didn"t want to sit down. I was greeted with smiles here with smiles . They took my car in right away to do an oil change. the store mgr Rey along with his associates were very helpful and really nice. The mechanics at this shop are down to earth, professionals who really took the time to answer my questions with patience. They found a couple of things wrong,a part with all the bolts missing & apart that wasn't the size to fit my car, which would have eventually ended in the collapse of my car and a bad accident.I was shocked to see that the mechanic from my last shop would be so negligent to do this. The PEPBOYS mechanics told me to take pictures with my phone and I did. I feel that these nice guys saved mine and my husbands lives and I am very grateful to them for finding this. Rey the store mgr went out of his way to price parts to get me the best deal and he made me feel very comfortable even giving me the tv remote to watch what I wanted while waiting. This Lodi store worked very well as a team even coming out to check with Rey on certain things. Rey even happily accepted my coupons, while Chris gave me a ride home in his own car so I didn"t have to wait there, although I didn"t mind waiting there since I got a dunkin donuts iced cofffee next door and watched a movie while I waited in the nice clean shop and relaxed. The only thing this shop needs is a bigger sign closer to the high way because its set back and you can"t see it but you can see the competitions bright yellow which is right before PEPBOYS. I really appreciate the whole team at the Lodi shop and am very thankful to them for all the care and help they gave me,especially saving our lives by putting in the correct parts and not leaving very much needed bolts off. Thank you and Bravo to all the guys at this store. Sincerely Joan Marie Schambach

Made an appointment on a Sat at 2pm for an oil change. Arrived on time to drop off my car. Upon arrival it was pretty busy and there was a line for the service dept with 2 employees helping and Lance the manager assisting.  Lance noticed the line and greeted everyone with a hand shake to let us know we would be helped shortly.  Wow! at Pepboys!?! Some car dealerships dont even do this. Always Acknowledge the customer especially when its busy and Lance did just that.Brendon helped me out and he was a nice guy.  Having worked there a few months he was very helpful, knowledgable and went through the process w no problems.  I was originally going to get my service done at Wheelworks so I showed them a special coupon I was going to use.  After discussing w Lance they were able to accommodate and take care of me. They finished the job and it didnt take too long. Same wait it would be at a dealership.  Ignore all reviews made by impatient people!Overall I felt like these guys took pride in their job and they tried.  If the store was more staffed the store would be better of-course. But this is not the employees fault so I encourage all the nasty customers to be a little more patient and have an open mind. It sucks for these employees that ghetto customers don't posses these qualities.  Its a shame.  Good job to Lance and Brendon! Please keep up the good work and customer service regardless of all the unreasonable customers you get.I will come back here!

Never ever coming to this location again.Made an appointment for 4:30pm and got there and checked in at 4.Brendan checked me in and was very nice however he told me it would take an hour and a half to CHECK MY BRAKES AND ALIGNMENT, just check! I was like okay they look a little busy, my car wasn't even in the shop at 6pm....really. what the hell am I making an appointment for if I'm not a priority?I'm still here at 7:30pm and they haven't finished the alignment check. It would be a better if the employees seemed at all apologetic but they aren't. That's what you get at the San Leandro Pep Boys and they get paid by the hour, they don't care about you or your time.

Stood around for 20 minutes to be greeted even though each employee walked past me at least 5 times. Finally got greeted. There was 1 in front of me and they too were not being helped. I sat around for about another 30 minutes when they said they would be right with me. The employees in the work area were just standing around how about get your asses in here where customers are waiting to be serviced. Absolutely horrible service.

Two words describe this location: excellent service. They were able to solve problems I've had with my vehicle for months that other mechanics couldn't even detect. One of the employees, Mike Jr., is extremely personable and provided me with extensive detail about the problems surrounding my vehicle, and what they did to fix them. The manager, Lance, is excellent, personally made sure everything was done right on my vehicle, and provided me with tips on how to take care of my car in future. And the service was inexpensive! I'll definitely be trusting these guys to take care of my car from now on.

Came in about a week ago to get all four tires replaced and it was awesome! Took it in early in the morning and it was done by noon the same day. They had the tires I wanted in stock and the manager there, Brian, did a great job at helping me out and figuring out what would be best for my Dodge Dart. He was very knowledgeable of his stuff and had a good handle on my needs. Will definitely be returning for any future service I need on my car.

Terrible experience overall. I decided to give these guys a shot after another horrible experience I had 2 years ago. I paid for a synthetic oil change and I see them through the bay window adding the cheapest conventional oil. This harms my engine as I always use synthetic. Unbelievable to save a few dollars. Anyway. This time, an engine light came on and they have a free code check so I thought I'd give them another chance. I went in right when they opened in 15 minutes, they were able to check the code. It said it was the thermostat. So I told them to replace the thermostat but they told me they need to run diagnostic before they could proceed ($90). I told them I didn't need that and to just replace the thermostat but they gave me the runaround and said I need the diagnostic before they could proceed. I had to leave the car there. They called in an hour and said they needed to replace the thermostat. Oh, gee, I wonder why. So I ask how much and the cost is- a ridiculous $500. I came back to the store to talk to them. I asked for the estimate sheet and it had the engine thermostat at $90, with the gasket another $20, and $400 for labor. Additionally, they tried to sneak in a coolant flush (Not needed) and an oil change (Not needed). Totally bill was closer to $700. Luckily, there is an autozone across the street and the same thermostat was only $25.  I asked why the labor was so expensive for a seemingly 10 minute job. They told me they have to remove the exahust manifold to replace the thermostat. I asked why they're lying because it just isn't true. Of course, they didn't know any better. I paid for the useless diagnostic and left. The gasket for the thermostat is attached to the housing already, they were charging for the extra gasket for nothing. I bought the thermostat from Autozone, long curved needle nosed pliers for $15 and changed it myself. I needed to refill the coolant ($10) as some leaked out. Didn't need a flush. Total cost less than $55 and an hour of my time. Check engine light went off. Car didn't overheat or indicate hotter than usually after 25 miles of driving today. Pep Boys preys on unsuspecting people who don't have common car sense. Absolutely terrible service. Never coming back.

Let me be clear here and state this is an overall rating. 3 stars for quality and price. If your looking for customer service, it's here, but a lot of it is just what you want to hear. Don't make any plans or appointments for the day. Drop off your car and wait for a call. Doesn't matter what your getting done, it will take hours so go do something else! Your not here for customer service, your here to get your car in the best shape possible. And they do that, it just takes about 4-6hours! Quality people!

I MADE the APPOINTMENT!  Two times I bought my cars to do oil change and two times the staff promised me to do it right away (immediately) and two times I have to wait for more than an hour, one time they told me to wait there, and second time I decided to go home and come back an hour later and found the car was not even move from the parking lot. IF THEY CANNOT DO IT, DO NOT PROMISE THE CUSTOMER.Service Manager was EVEN arguing with me and told me the technician went to lunch, AND TOLD ME I SHOULD NOT TALK TO HIM AND HIS STAFF LIKE THAT....I was telling what I was told and promise by their staff....Although, they gave me a free oil change the second time and gave me a coupon that will expired in less than a week (what a joke!), the first time was only $2 off, BUT WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THAT??? It's waste of my time to wait.....

Very nice and helpful workers. They greet and acknowledge everyone that walks in the store even though they are busy. Don't believe the negative comments. It really depends on your patience. Pepboys go by the waitlist and luckily when i came by for a oil change there was no wait. I was in and out in 30 minutes! However, after i left i noticed they drained out all my windshield water which was very strange but whatever i have plenty at home. This place is understaffed and their online system does not communicate will with their store. However, the store is large and has a good selection, and once you do get a hold of an employee, they are friendly and helpful.I placed my order online for 3 items in order to utilize their 35% off coupon. It said it would be ready for pickup the next day, but I never received a notification. I called a few times but the phone just rang and rang, so I just went there. I could immediately see that they were understaffed, as a couple employees were hoping from the counters of different departments to help customers. I had to wait a while until a cashier arrived, and he looked around for the order and confirmed it wasn't ready. I asked him if I could just go find the times and check out with the price I paid online. He wasn't sure and asked around and then said he would take care of it. It took a couple employees to find my order, and I pretty much had to tell them the exact items. It up taking a while. People started lining up behind me to check out. CJ went down the isles and selected my items. He rung me up, and I told him I'd make two trips and be right back to finish loading. To my surprise he walked out and loaded the remaining in my trunk. He was very friendly and helpful, but I later found out that all 3 items were incorrect. My receipt showed the correct items I ordered online, but I guess their system has no way of verifying the ones you pick up are correct. I caught 2 of the incorrect items before I left, but not the battery because it was the same brand I ordered but the wrong model. The worst part was that I didn't discover this until I pulled my old battery. Luckily I was able to get there 10 minutes before closing. Although I had to wait around for a while until a cashier was available, I was able to get my core refund, which I would have had to go back for anyway, and they gave me the correct battery with no hassle.Overall, the store is large with a great selection, I got a great deal, and staff was helpful and has good customer service skills. It just appears that this store is understaffed so there can be large wait times. And if you order online, make sure the items you pick up match exactly.

I shouldn't give them any star because they don't deserve any. My son's car has been there for  two months now and they've been telling him there is no part, we ordered it already and just waiting for it , there's no technician, they will tell you all kinds of excuses. My son had his car fixed in San Leandro and paid them almost &700 and didn't fix the the problem so he took it back to the one in Union City since we moved to Hayward . It was there for almost a month and then when we went there they said we have to take it back to San Leandro since they're the one who fixed it first. They towed it to San Leandro and it's been there for more than a month now and the same they haven't fix the car and telling us all kinds of bullshit. Pep boys is the worse shop in the Bay Area . You should be ashamed of yourselves,!people need their car to go to work. What if it's your car? My 4 year old granddaughter has been taking two buses everyday to go to school because you guys are very irresponsible, you should just  close your shop if you don't meet your customer's needs. Just tell us what kind of parts do you need and what company should we call and we'll do it for you.

DON"T DO IT.I recently made an appointment to have my fluid levels and tire pressure checked for an upcoming trip.  I was there almost 2 hours  :(     In the end they said NOTHING about the basics I asked them to check, but tried to tell me I needed $1700 worth of work.  One day later I was under the hood and noticed that there was undisturbed DUST on the very caps and sticks PepBoys would have had to touch to check my fluids!  THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

I've been to this location twice. They're in no hurry to help you, and I waited more than twenty minutes before I was giving the details of my vehicle and what I needed done. I had a headlight out and since I drive for work I couldn't put this off. So I waited, and although one employee seemed to be more helpful than the others, there is a whole lot of don't-give-a-crap in the air here. The lack of communication amongst employees and unassigned assistance results in having to repeat yourself to five employees, who then have to go asking everyone else for answers.I came back here to have spark plugs changed. I bought the GM-recommended plugs myself and wanted to just have them put in. Instead, the employee asked me if I could return them to were I bought them and he could match the price with their own plugs. Not only would that be a huge waste of time and gas, but it's also preposterous that they can't just charge for labor -- they have to get you to buy parts from them too. So screw this place. If you want my business that bad, Pep Boys, let me decide how much of it I want to give you at a time. Otherwise, I will take all of my business elsewhere.

Not all workers have the same motivated attitude like a select few.The store manager does everything he can (within reason) to fix a situation or give you the best deal.Lines are often long and only one cashier working both service dept and main store. There doesn't seem to be much communication between service depart eat and the technicians. For example, a car was finished for well over 30 minutes before the customer finally inquired about his vehicle. The cashier retrieved the paperwork and began out processing the customer.

I needed new tires bad, and I needed then fast. A friend told be about pep boys in San Leandro so I thought I would give a try. I was helped by some young guys named Brendon and Lance. They worked quick. They were able to set me up with tires that would last me the longest, Michelin Defenders I think was the name. Brendon even told me about a rebate I was able to get! Hey 75 bucks is 75 bucks. All in all it was a quick and painless experience, just taking off one star for the waiting area and slow wifi.

I've used this store many times over the years and have been happy with the selection and quality. I just found out that you don't offer employees bereavement leave! Your slogan is "We look out for each other. It's the right thing to do." but what about someone who just lost his mother, or a mom who lost a child? Do you look out for them? Would you really make them choose between their job and going to the funeral? That seems very cold and uncaring. And if you don't care about your employees, then I question whether you care about your customers. Please reconsider this policy, and change it!

I've been going to this location for 4 years now, because I live across the street, so it's convenient. I normally have good service there, but I ended up having a really BAD experience about 1 1/2 ago. So bad that I stopped going there as I didn't want to come into contact with the employee that caused the unfortunate situation.I also had a favorite there, Frank, who since I started coming to that location has always taken very good care of me & been available for any concerns I may have.  Well after avoiding the place for over a year, I was on my way to move my car when I heard, "How come you never come see me anymore?" I look up & its Frank!  I immediately told him why I hadn't been back & he told me that the employee in question was no longer employed there.  I was SO relieved as I hated not being able to utilize the convenience of this PepBoys, and they have my cars history, etc.  I told him I was in bad need of tires (I wasn't sure where I was going to go that would guarantee their products) & he asked me to come back.  I did go back & because of Frank, they gave me a very good deal & even some services without charging me, in an effort to make up for my bad experience & with the hopes that I would give them another chance.  Because of Frank, and also Chris, this location is now back in my good graces.I am so happy, because they actually do take good care of me & I hated feeling as though I could not feel safe going there. (Safe meaning for my car, not personal safety... there is no concern for personal safety, it is perfectly safe.)I do wish that the guys at the service desk would be a little more interactive when they see someone waiting. They do tend not to acknowledge folks waiting, which, even if it was going to be a long wait, makes a person feel valued.  Just a nod or a greeting of "I'll be with you shortly" is the difference between feeling valued or not.Beyond that, I actually do appreciate this PepBoys.Thank you mostly to Frank! He is an asset!***I'm giving 4 stars & not 5 as I am slowly moving back into full comfort there *** I will raise it to 5 as I continue to feel that it is consistently earned.***

My husband and I had a major situation with our car... we needed to refill our car with oil in order to turn it on and move it before alternate side parking the next day.  We called to make sure this PepBoys had the Royal Purple oil we needed.  We spoke to George and he said they did, but it was 850pm and they closed at 9pm.  Our drive from our apartment was 15 minutes, so we borrowed out neighbors car and we're hustling to get there in time.We realized that we were not going to make it in time  before the store closed and called back to talk to George.  Of course we understood that long hours everyone there had put in, but George said he would put the oil we needed to the side and give us a few extra minutes.  We made it to PepBoys by 903pm, got the oil we needed and were greeted with tired but extremely helpful help.  His helpful cooperation saved us from getting a street parking ticket and salvaged our Labor Day weekend trip south. We are deeply thankful for the understanding and cooperation from the late night employees when they obviously could have just said no and left us stranded.  No other Auto store will get our business from this point on.Thanks!!!!

What can one say?  Ratings are correct.  I'll pre-empt you, pep-boys.  Not gonna contact that BS corporate email address.  Worst shop in Brooklyn. Had a 7 PM appointment.  Seen at 830.  They gave me some BS explanation for why my car was shaking.  They said they'd call me in the AM with an estimate.  They called me at 4:30 PM with a 3,000 estimate, only after I called and sat on hold and hung up for 30 mins.  Went to get the car and it took another 30 mins.  Then took it to my local guy who solved the problem for 40 bucks.  All crooks.  STAY AWAY!  In any event, contacted the AG's office and BBB.  It's a big company so prolly wont to anything.  STAY AWAY.

I made a appointment on line. When I arrived, Christopher, the clerk behind the counter, informed me that it would be 60-90 minutes before they take my car in. When I asked about the purpose of the appointment he retorted that one doesn't see a doctor at the time of the appointment. I know my doctors see me pretty close to on time. As for checking in and telling of my car's issues, the same Christopher was obnoxious and condescending. Maybe because I'm a woman he assumes I don't know about my car.

Went here today for the first time to collect my NEW BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2 A/S tires. Wanted to get them asap, as there is a special $70 manufacturer reward this month and planned to use my usual trusted mechanic to fit/balance. Had a bit of time spare and thought, why not get them to do this at Pepboys? Chris was a pleasure to deal with. Even without a service appointment my car was processed right away. The mechanic was happy to pump the tires to 36 psi and even had a quick check of my brake fluid. Would not hesitate to go here for my next set of tires.

Made an order online and went to pick it up 2 days later. Unlike the first time, the order was ready to be picked up. However, the attendant who processed my order is a weirdo. As I stood near him on the other side of the counter, he walked out from behind it and right past me. No sound, no nothing. As I continue to stand there, old man homeboy walks pass me again. You would THINK he would tell me that he just brought all my stuff to the cashier. But no, he doesn't say shit.  He just leaves me standing there until I walk around the store and the cashier looks at me and waives.  She knew what was up. You can tell old man homeboy was not in a good mood that day.  Either way, I'm still giving 4 stars. Their online deals for supplies are unbeatable with instant 30% off. Old man homeboy, get some rest.

This place is running a scam and will extort you and hold your car hostage. I brought my car in for an inspection. A 2010 Honda Civic all in working order. When I went go pick the car up they said it failed inspection because of a brake light out and that it needed new wiper blades. Both were fine when I took it in. I think the guy's name was Ali, he then tried to sell me the most expensive bulb and wipers or else he would fail the car. He wouldn't offer any other options for parts only more expensive ones. I had to look up their inventory myself on the website for other cheaper options.

Pep Boys has done it again.  Always professional and on point.  Had to take my Honda CR-V in to get a Brand New Starter.  The General Manager Joseph Giordano recommended me to Ali, one of the store's leading mechanic, and he along with Deen got the job done in a prompt manager.  My car has been starting without any troubles since then.  This store is great, professional, reliable, and always ready to help, as soon as your vehicle arrives on the their lot.  I'm a proud customer of this Pep Boys in Brooklyn.  And I recommend all of my family & friends to this place to get their vehicles fixed up and back on the road.

Hey pepboys manager,Instead of replying on yelp asking for details where I would have to give you my email address, how about you just read the details I've already written along with the many other one-star comments that are written on here. Please stop pretending that you care and perhaps actually manage this location instead, if you don't want one-star reviews.

I needed a tire.  Pep Boys' website said they had tires starting at $39.99.  One of the brands mentioned at this price was Starfire.  I went there on Sunday morning (10/23/15).  No tires at that price to fit my car.  However, they did have the right size in stock for $64.99. Also Starfire.  And it turned out that another of my tires had to be replaced because it had a screw in it --- too close to the rim to plug according to the technician.  Bottom line? $189.57.  But the customer service guys were nice and pleasant.

Not sure if what they say is true or not but the feeling is always like I am being ripped off. I can't bring my car here and get one thing looked at it always turns into something else at quadruple what I planned on spending. I will be long for a smaller mechanic. I am sure he will rip me off too but maybe it won't feel so shady.

Went in for an oil change and they told me there was a problem with my suspension system: lower control arms had to be replaced. The parts were over $1200, looking online I found the same parts for around A THIRD the price!I decided to get a second opinion from a friend's trusted mechanic. Thank goodness I did because the control arms were COMPLETELY FINE!! They did NOT need to be replaced. Pep boys tried to scare me into unnecessary repairs, DESPICABLE

There are so many negative things that people write on Yelp, I thought I'd be the exception.I just left Pepboys a couple hours ago, where I needed my tire fixed (there was a nail in it), before I drive a long distance tomorrow. When I walked in, they told me they couldn't fix it tonight because they were already going to be there way after close (it was 30 mins until close). Knowing that feeling when people do that to me at work, I politely said 'Okay that's fine, I totally understand! Thanks anyways.. I'll come back at a different time.' After I said this, I was ready to leave. This is when one of the mechanics stopped me and asked what I needed done, and then proceeded to ask me for my keys - he was willing to do it for me, on top of his full load for the night. I was caught off guard and so unbelievably appreciative, that I decided I was going to tip him when he was done. Once he was done and I tried to give him money, he wouldn't accept it.. I then went in to pay and the lady walked out from the back and told me that I was 'all set.' On top of helping me late, my services were taken care of. $20 might not be a lot to some, but being a college student, it's a lot for me. When I walked in there tonight, I had no idea I'd be writing this right now. Proof that good people do exist, but even more proof that simply treating people with respect (even when things don't seem to be going your way) is recognized and appreciated.

I made an appointment online. I received two emails, the first confirming my request and the second confirming my appointment. What is the point of being able to make an appointment if they can't honor it? I showed up on time only to be told they won't be able to see me. Customer service apologized, said the website doesn't translate to the actual shop time and that this is an issue they are trying to fix (is it really that hard?! Take away the option then! What a waste of my time!). I feel worse knowing this has happened before to some other schmuck. I called another store and again I receive the same answer and an apology saying they understand I was scheduling it around my time. Here's the thing, I did not schedule it around my time. I scheduled my appointment around the time they offered me. Fool me once Pep Boys, shame on you. I'll be darned if I'm fooled again. Yes a bit dramatic but I am sitting in the parking lot feeling very screwed over, wishing I could place negative stars on this review and very much feeling my place as a stupid consumer. Word to the wise, if you are going to use Pep Boys, don't be stupid like me. Call ahead and verify your appointment. Now, can someone direct me to a more reliable tire shop?

Like all other posts I should've trusted Yelp. All i needed them to do was give me a quote and inspection on my brakes. I called them to ask just how long that might take they said "30 minutes, no problem." I then asked how long would it take for them to install the brake pads to my car if I did end up agreeing to the quote and inspection. They said "Hour and a half". I was very pleased with both of these answers and the confidence that went into both of them. Unfortunately nothing went as it should have. I had been calling places all morning Jiffy Lube, which I should've trusted and gone with, Pep Boys, and local auto shops. I got multiple quotes and time frames of when they could do this all because I wanted to go to Bloomington to pick up the rest of my stuff in storage before work started next week because I'm moving into my new place. So I decided why not go to Pep Boys first let them inspect it in 30 minutes then give me a quote and if I like it, I'll tell them to install it and it'll badda bing badda boom. Unfortunately it wasn't anything but. I work during the week so I took 30 minutes out of my work day to go to Pep Boys drop my car off because the brakes are f'd up and I don't feel comfortable driving that car all the way to Bloomington the way it's started to drive recently. So I dropped it off there and went back to work and everything seemed like it was going to be ok. well I dropped the car off at 10:15am and after two hours and fifteen minutes I decided to call back at 12:30pm. One of their service guys said "Alex is working on the inspection and putting numbers together right now, he'll give you a call back in 10 minutes." He hung up and I was like ok. Then I go back to work and before I know it, it's 2:30pm and not a call because I've been watching my phone while I've been working. I call them back and ask them what's going on with my car you said 10 mins two hours ago and it wasn't even supposed to last till 12:30. It was suppose to last 30 minutes! Finally I got in touch with Alex and he said "oh man I must have gotten your number wrong because it just get saying invalid #." No duh you wrote it down wrong, you think I gave you a fake number to fix my car? Jesus. He even repeated my number in the beginning but still got it wrong. I'm not so mad about the number thing because mistakes happen but he should remember for next time maybe he doesn't hear everything as clearly as he thinks so he should confirm more than twice with customer. My problem was that they were behind schedule when I called them at 12:30pm because at 10:15am they said an inspection would take 30mins and they didn't have it done in two hours and 45 minutes. Then it took me to call them back again. Cmon Pep Boy, you don't have caller id or a ring back thing or something. That's outrageous. Now it's 3pm and I'm 20 minutes south of Pep Boys if I take 90 and there is no traffic. But it's 3pm and a Friday so 90 will take over an hour to get there so I won't be able to bring my car to another shop until tomorrow which has now caused me to not be able to go to Bloomington tomorrow because I can't get my car in time. I left my car there at 10:15am and it's now 3:05 pm. They told me 30 minutes for an inspection. Much longer than that. My advise is to stay away from this Pep Boys. Go to Jiffy Lube or a local auto shop. I should've trusted Yelp like I normally do but I thought how could it be that bad. It's a huge store. But if a huge store is run by subpar workers, lying about time estimations, that can happen and it did to me. So thanks Pep Boys, way to live up to the hype about you. All the comments are true. And I bet their PR/Customer Service person will reach out to this comment like she has for every other truthful comment and say "I'm sorry to hear about your experience at one of our stores Will. This is not how we're usually run. Could I get you in contact with our Customer Service Department so you can describe it more in depth to them?" No I wrote the story here. I'm done with Pep Boys. Leave me alone, your Customer Service obviously hasn't done anything to change the way your employees act after so many people have had such a miserable experience here. Maybe you should stop writing responses to truthful comments and actually train somebody how to be a good Manager at that place. I HATE PEP BOYS! Jiffy Lube you have won by default.

Got a flat tire on Saturday, was desperate in finding any service willing to help nearby.Called PepBoys, said they can get it fixed in 15 minutes. Came in, waited for 1 hour, after which they said they do not fix this kind of punctures and the only thing they can recommend is to replace whole tire, and they have it(obviously), and you need to replace both. $500 out of pocket for a mattress spring in you tire. I refused, found tire shop on Ashland and got it fixed in 20 mins for $20.

If you care about the safety of your loved ones, do not go here.  I have proof that they charged me for new rotors and then resurfaced my old ones and attempted to pass them as new.  This is fraud, and illegal.  I have video of the resurfacing and photos of the rotors after the resurfacing.  When confronted, the manager simply got in his car and left. They are charging for new parts, and leaving the old parts on your car.

I've been to this Pep Boys quite a few times and I've always had a great experience. I thought this last experience warranted a good review. I went in there for wiper blades and I bought the ones that were in the book as the right ones. They offered to put them on for me and, upon pulling into the bay and removing my old ones, informed me they were the wrong ones. The gentleman who was working in the service bay escorted me inside, showed me the right ones, handed me the sleeves to pay, and the correct ones were on before I was even back outside from completing the exchange. That was amazing service... on top of the good service I usually get. I'm truly sorry others have had bad service, but I think it's just as important to talk about the great experiences as the bad ones, so this is getting posted!

I broke my serpentine belt on my way to work this morning and this Pep Boys was the closest auto parts store to the Loop.  I'm so used to the over and above service in my home town.  We pre-ordered the parts online. When we got there.... Not one hello or how can I help.  The guy grunted... "You ordered online? I think there was a problem with the belt" what problem, I asked? He just walked away.  After yelling at a few employees not to touch his register from across the store, he came back and threw the belt on the counter.  I said don't forget the tool we ordered with it.  He just looked at me and said, just wait, I'm not done. He brings the tool back and rings it up saying I cannot use my pep boys rewards number.  I just want to fix the car and go home.  I'll find another store in the future. Not even have a nice day or even good-bye!

Very unreliable! Took 2 hours to check the status of the car break. Then I got the page that the car is ready. When I got out, my car is still in the service area with no tires! The manager on duty can't find the staff who is working on my car. Waited another 30 minutes. This place is a hot mess! Everybody needs to go back to basic training on customer service. This place never heard of under promise and over deliver strategy.I will not come back to this place again. I should have been warned with the 2 stars rating here at Yelp and never brought my car here in the first place.Don't know how this place stays afloat with poor customer service.

When I initially brought my vehicle in , I thought "not bad" on the service and wait time. Of course I was the only one there to wait on and the garage was quiet also. So pretty quick on my radiator check and off I go on my trip only to have my engine seize from overheating not 3 hours away. I tried to drive it slowly ,nursing it along as I was in the middle of nowhere ,the nearest auto repair with a tow service was 150 miles away..  Thinking it was a fluke, brought my other car in for some work ,(they were walking distance from me)I told them what I needed done , I don't have a garage or lifts but apparently those don't help these guys anyway. That car never did run right after their repairs ,they kept telling me there was a mysterious electrical problem following a battery ,alternator and belt replacement. The battery was a $150 Bosch ,best they had , I don't skrimp. Finally just sold that car with full disclosure  ,I stupidly trusted their diagnosticians..bought another import..that too soon needed a battery ,damn chicago extremes. Again, I bought another Bosch from Pepboys and they installed it -also big bucks, soon after the car wouldn't start if it sat for a few days.        I dealt with it almost all winter ,AAA came out with a tester when I called for a jump and told the guy he was wasting time  and sure enough , the battery was defective , it had a bad cell!!  He printed out the diagnosis. Changed that battery and not another problem! Oh and I did not bring I back to those butchers..did it myself..Then I thought about the other car with it's mystery electrical crap...The Bosch's were likely old sitting on the shelf or a defective batch and I wasted ALL of that time , money and frustration , not to mention being stranded on the coldest days...I wasn't going to bother posting , but if this helps one person from the unbelievable stupidity that I dealt with , it's worth it. Go ANY where else for auto repair and parts!!!And save your rebuttal , I shouldn't have to ,as a customer , bring my car to get the battery tested when you sold it to me and installed it.....twice!!!! Guess who is now a proud owner of a 15 dollar battery tester?

I live in the area and went to this location to have an alternate set of tires placed on my vehicle. The next day while traveling the "check tire sensor" light came on while I was on a road trip to Canada. When I returned to Chicago, I went to the location and told them. They asked if the tire pressure was low. The answer was no as the Vehicle provides  provides a different warning for that. I explained more than likely there's a problem with the sensors when they did the work. Four hours later i came back and they told me it was fixed. I got in my vehicle and the light/problem they said was corrected was still an issue . Obviously they don't have the capability to know how to fix what they potentially caused.  Going to the Chevy dealership as I just need it fixed.

Thanks to Mike and Julio for taking care of my car! They were easy to work with, did not push unnecessary or expensive services or items and went above and beyond to help me. Julio is an honest mechanic too. I asked him to change my air filter, only to have him tell me I had a brand new one (I guess hubby changed it and never told me). Julio could have easily ripped me off. Thanks guys! I'll be back!

I was aware of Pep Boys being awful and expensive but cheap for Oil changes. I was leaving for a month long road trip and thought it would be a good idea, So i brought my car in for an oil change thinking they couldn't mess that up. Guess i was wrong. They haphazardly crack the plug off my oil pan to cause a leak. The incompetent mechanic told me that they couldn't put a temporary plug in and that i had to basically drop $500 to fix my car right now. How did a $20 oil change turn into a $500 cost so quickly? Finally one of the slightly more competent mechanics realized that they COULD put a temporary plug in, but stated that it wouldn't last more than a couple days. I spend the first 3 days of my road trip in fear of leaking oil on the highway. When i finally reached my day off in Toronto, I took my car to a autoshop. Not only did the mechanic say that the temporary plug would hold, but that i didn't need an oil pan replacement. Guess what? THE PLUG HELD THE ENTIRE TRIP. Thank you Pep Boys for being money-grubbing liars who try to scam everyone out of more money because no one trusts your work, and this is why. NEVER take your car here. NEVER.

I should have paid attention to the feedback everyone posted in Yelp about this particular Pep Boys.  This location is a complete joke.  Two years ago I purchased four new tires.  Initially I was happy with my purchase but after about a year my two front tires started to lose air.  I brought my car to Lexus for a general maintenance check.  They noticed the deflating tires and offered to replace them.  I told them no because I had a warranty with Pep Boys.  After I got off the phone with Lexus, I called Pep Boys and explained my situation and set an appointment.  When we got there on Sunday, they didn't have a record of my call or the appointment I had scheduled.  It was a little annoying but they were still able to get us in, OK, no problem.  I went shopping across the street and received a call from them about 15 minutes later.  When I answered, they asked me where my tire key was.  I told them I didn't know and that they were the last ones to touch my tires.  I guess I should have known where it was because I might have needed it in an emergency but literally no one has touched it since then.  Basically, it was no where to be found and, of course, I have no proof that it hasn't been used since they worked on my car.  They probably forgot to put it back or kept it - either way, I'm stuck without a tire key and will probably have to pay Lexus for a new one.  When I do, it will be interesting to see what Pep Boys says when they inspect the tires.  We'll see if they take responsibility and honor the warranty or try to charge me some extra amount of money.  I'll keep you posted...Bob

DO NOT take your car here unless it's just an oil change. And probably not even then. I'd taken my car here twice for oil changes before, and they were always relatively quick and reasonable and I liked the fact that I could make an appointment online. So when my brakes were acting funny, my boyfriend and I thought it would be good to get them to check it out before we drove 8 hours (the next day) on a road trip.So my boyfriend took it in on a Tuesday morning, where he stayed for four hours with little to no communication. After four hours, they told him they had to replace the brakes ($400) and the master cylinder (also $400), so they would order the part and it would be ready the next day around noon. The next day (when we had hoped to leave around 6 am), we didn't hear from them, so my boyfriend decided to go to the store at about 2 pm. At 3, they took the car back (good sign, right? and already 3 hours past their quoted time), but at 5:30, we still had no news. At 7, a full 5 hours after getting there, my boyfriend said they hadn't given him any update, and his phone died. At 9:45 PM, he finally came home with no car and no hope. At 9:30 PM, they had finally informed him that the part they ordered was defective, and we wouldn't get a replacement until Friday (because of Thankgiving)So tl;dr my boyfriend spent SEVEN AND A HALF HOURS in their waiting room with NO COMMUNICATION. We then had to rent a car ($400) for the weekend, to which the guy managing our car said "oh sorry." Despite promising to call on Friday, we hadn't heard from them by Saturday night, so we called. "Oh the Mazda? That was fixed Wednesday," said the project manager. NOPE. No one had bothered to write anything down, so the internal communication was completely nonexistent. He then told us everything would be good Sunday and he'd give us a call.No call. We called on the way home, and we were told it was fixed, so we stopped by the store. SURPRISE-- it was not fixed. The guy took us through everything like they'd made great progress, but literally nothing was better.Long story less long, it took them TWO WEEKS and FOUR REPLACEMENT PARTS to give us our car back. In that time, they called when they promised exactly zero times. I realize that sometimes parts are faulty, but at least let us know.Anyway, they didn't charge us for the master cylinder, but I will never ever ever ever ever go back here again.

They tried to scam me or are incompetent. It's been a year since this has happened, but I think people should know.I went in with a large oil leak and they said I have to replace my whole oil cooler.  They quoted me at $1.2k or so.I got a bad feeling and told them to give me back my car.  I towed it to the dealer and they said I only had to change a gasket, which cost me $250.

This is a follow up to my original post. The Pep Boys on Elston is under new management.  After seeing my review on Yelp, the new manager, John, contacted me and offered to replace my struts at no charge to me.  I brought my car in and they did the work as promised.I would give four or five stars but I can't because of so much of my time that was wasted getting to this point.  I also still feel that I was over charged on the labor on my original visit which wasn't remedied.

I recently took a rare classic car here for suspension work that other shops wouldn't touch, for fear of having a lift tied up while waiting for hard-to-find parts. They stuck with me for over four weeks as I tried to hunt down one part after another, never complaining about having one bay occupied the whole time. Friendly service, quality work, a love of old cars, and they even gave me a discount on the labor. If they were better about returning phone calls, I'd give them five stars.

Extremely poor scheduling management and even worst customer experience. It's been more than 1.5 hs since my scheduled appointment and these guys have not yet started to work on it. When I arrived I was told that they were running aprox 30 min late, but they would do whatever they can to get my car in asap. All in all, I was told, I should be done in one hour. At the hour I checked and nothing happened. 1.5 hs later still waiting... How long will this go? Who knows! Any reasonable explanations or signs of concerns? Hahaha

Mike who works at the service desk is awesome, I've worked with him for years.  Rashad is also a great guy but I've only worked with him once.I have been coming for years, they screw up, but they take care of all screw ups and are very honest about everything.  In one case I needed a new battery, they agreed to install one for me at a fair price.  While installing the battery they broke my key off in the door and reset the computer so none of my other keys worked with the car.  They paid to tow the car to the dealer and paid the dealer to reset my old keys then bought me a new one to replace the broken one.  Then they discounted my repair to compensate for the extra time I went without the car. I highly recommend them for tires, living in Chicago my car gets flats.  Buying tires here has the benefit of a roadside hazard warranty.  Now when I get flats they fix them for free or discount the cost of new tires steeply if they can't be repaired.  I've tried smaller Indy shops from yelp in the past and their warranties suck!  They might do a better job initially but when I had something go wrong I found pepboys where they stand behind their service.

Made appointment after two other Pep Boys, close to me, told me they had no "master" mechanic/technician available on a Sunday. Decided to call ahead because of unavailability verbalized by other Pep Boys. Was told "we can check it-no problem. Might not have parts though." Went in to be told it would be a TWO hour wait before they could see car. Why make an appointment??? Why go to a PARTS store if they may not have the part car needs. Going to dealer mechanic.

AUBURN, WASHINGTON -- Brought my SUV in for a simple spark plug change, but while they were in the process somehow they dropped a bolt in my cylinder causing the whole engine to be destroyed! They then tried giving it back saying not to be concerned about the rattling in my engine, and that the plugs were changed. After demanding they fix the rattle they created they held my SUV a week telling me every day a different story as to why there's a new rattling. After being carless for a week and calling daily they told me it was being towed to the dealership it came from and that they would pay to fix the damage they caused.

HICKSVILLE, NEW YORK -- Back in December, I brought my car to the Pep Boys in Hicksville, NY (on Long Island), as my engine was overheating. They took it in and worked on it for a few hours while I waited. That night, I got my car back and, ~$500 later, it was working. Fast forward to March, and my car started to have the same issue. I thought "There's no way it's the same thing" and had it towed to another shop nearby that my boyfriend had used. Lo and behold, it was the same issue (thermostat housing was leaking). I called Pep Boys and had it towed to their shop. They had the car from Thursday til Monday, and when I picked it up Tuesday, my car was dead.

Shame on Pep Boys - scammers and thieves. The Pep Boys at 830 Military Dr. in San Antonio, Texas, are full of lies and deceit when it comes to servicing your tires. Your boss, Pep Boys President, Mike O'Dell knows about this and will not get involved. An email to Pep Boys President gets no attention: Today I visited your Pep Boys location at 830 SE Military Dr. in San Antonio. I needed this visit to correct a vibration problem that was felt on my 1995 Mercury Mystique. This has been an ongoing problem since mid 2010, yet I was not made aware of this until recently from my brother.

My car broke down on the highway on 11/02/2009 and was towed to the Pep Boys in Fontana, they installed a new fuel pump and it ran fine afterward. They told me the engine needed to be replaced and it would cost $2,000.00 and I gave them permission to install a new engine. I ended up paying $3,195.00 and taking delivery on 12/9/2009. After a few days I realized the engine sounded a lot different than the original and it was ticking and knocking. When I called Pep Boys they told me it was just a new engine and it was just settling in.

MARLTON, NEW JERSEY -- Hello Guys, I got very bad experience with Pep boys Auto at Marlton, New jersey location. This whole thing is done in 3 days. This is I am writing for not to get cheated by others. This is all about my observation from my bad experience. It is lengthy but worth to read. You can get an idea how they are trying to cheat us. PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA -- I dropped my truck off for service this morning at about 10am for hesitation and rough idle issues at the Panama City, FL 23rd Street location. I was told by the service manager that they would run a diagnostic test and have an estimate for me by early that afternoon. I left at that point to run some errands. By 4pm today I had not heard from them so I called to check the status of my vehicle. I was told by the employee that he just got on shift and would check on it and call me back. Two hours later at 6pm I still had not gotten a call. So I called again. Again I was told there was no information and I would be called.

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA -- I notice a small amount of antifreeze on my garage floor. I do most of the mechanic work on my car and truck. So I started checking for the leak. Checked radiator, radiator hoses, heater hoses, coolant line for oil cooler, I noticed small amount of seepage around lower timing belt cover and water pump. I was going to make the repair but my wife thinks I'm too old to still be working on my truck. So I took it to Pep Boys and told them about the water pump leaking. I know when you replace the water pump it is best to replace the timing belt too because you must remove the timing belt to get to the water pump. This was quoted as five hour job.

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- In April 2008 I had a flat and took my vehicle to Pep Boys to have it fixed. I was told there was a hole in the sidewall and it couldn't be fixed and must be replaced. New tire $135.00. I was also told my remaining three tires were dangerously thin and should be replaced. I agreed. 4 tires plus balancing alignment and old tire disposal $485.00. I instructed that the spare tire be placed back under the truck as a spare (had never been on the ground until the flat: 9-miles).

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS -- I have aluminum rims that can be a pain in the neck with slow leaks at the beads. The guy who changed my tires busted his butt cleaning the beads (I didn't even mention the leaks) and cleaning the mounting surfaces on the van. I expected a quick unprofessional job. (How professional can changing tires be?) The guy (**) impressed me. I was watching him work on the van and thought "I wonder if I should give him a tip", then I thought "I'm going to give him a $5", then I thought "I'm going to give him a ten." SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- On 12/02/06, I purchased 4 new tires for my car, paid for everything even the road hazard warranty, when it come time to have the tires rotated I first was told that I had to leave the car for at least 4 to 5 hours, well because I'm handicapped that wasn't possible for me! So the manager said that I could make an appointment to come in and have it done (rotation). But even with an appointment he said he couldn't guarantee that he could do it even then, saying that if someone came in at the same time as my appointment that I'd probably still would have to leave the car anyway.

GLEN BURNIE, MARYLAND -- After deciding to replace two tires on a 2007 Toyota Prius, I began looking online for a good deal. I was on Pep Boys website and found a tire which was affordable so I called the store to check on availability. I was told they had them in stock so I made an appointment for the next day. After driving an hour and a half to the store, we were told they did not have the tire we wanted. I asked about a tire in the same price range and was told that the only tire they had was so cheap that "they never put them on a car." I was instead offered a tire that was about $35.00 more per tire.

HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA -- I needed new tires, I decided to try Pep Boys. I was pleased in the beginning, they found the tires that I wanted, it went downhill from there. It was expensive for starters, 850 dollars for a Mazda 3. It took them almost 5 hours to complete the job, and once they were done and aligned it, the car completely pulled to the left. I came back, they rotated the tires, still had the problem. The next day I went to Firestone, they said the tires had a defect, so I went back to Pep Boys and I told them what Firestone said, they refused to admit that the tire had a defect.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- I went into the store on 35th ave. & cactus, there were 4 employees in the register area, no one greeted me when I came. I went to the tire area which is next to the registers, I was looking over the tires and looked at the 4 people at the registers, they were talking, no other customers in the store, now I know why. Not one person came to assist me or ask what they could help me with. When I asked for help, they said they would see if they could find someone, but no one went anywhere or called on the phone. AUSTELL, GEORGIA -- Pep Boys advertises the best tire prices in town. I had to purchase one from them due to a nail in my sidewall. They quoted a basic price of $196, which did NOT include the rebuilding of the TPM (tire pressure monitor). In addition they did not have the tire in stock. I then went to Discount Tire, who quoted me a basic price of $140 for a similar tire, which INCLUDED the rebuilding of the TPM. They also had that tire and 3 other tires for my vehicle in stock. Needless to say, they do not have the best prices in town.

Came in at 9:00 am needing a tire. They did not have my fairly common size in stock in any brand. I was told that they would have the replacement tire in by noon, so I ordered it. After ordering I was told that it would be 3:00pm, I called at 4:30 to make sure the tire was there and installed. Then I was told the tire didn't make it and would be there at 6:00pm, they should have warned me. I understand hiccups, but 3 time changes with no phone call is ridiculous. Stay away from here if you're having an emergency or crunched for time.

I went in and told them the rotors on my car were bad. They told me it was my cv axle, so I paid a lot of money to replace that. Didn't fix it. Took my car to get the brakes bled because I installed a new master cylinder and brake booster. Said the booster was bad. Bought a new one and took it to the to install. Picked the car up and it was making a vacuum noise so I took it back. Said they had multiple people drive the car and could hear the noise. Also the mechanic left the bleed valve rubber covers off so clearly they are careless and have no attention to detail. There was also grease on my center console from the mechanics arm. My car is now worse off than when I brought it in and they won't refund any of my money. Take your car someplace else for service. I as a weekly customer for parts and will never be back.

THE GOOD: Overall turnaround time was fairly good for the repair I was in for (serpentine belt replacement, tensioner pulley replacement, and an oil change). End price for everything done was fair enough (more on that in a second). Everyone there was professional, courteous, and answered any questions I had, and kept me in the loop the entire time. The tech used a part I had already bought (the serpentine belt), rather than making me buy a shop part. The bad: Initial, quoted, price for parts was almost ludicrously high. Summary: I went in for a diagnosis of a squeal coming from the engine, and this was completed quickly with a minimum of fuss. The initial quoted price with parts and labor for the suggested repair was fairly high, almost 250 for the repair alone. When I pointed out that one of the parts, the tensioner assembly, could be had for roughly 60 dollars at a local parts store the gentleman I was dealing with seemed incensed by that and was rather dismissive of me. I spoke with the tech who was servicing me vehicle and he was very forthcoming with answers for me. I decided to go ahead with the repair and get an oil change while I was at it. About 3 hours later I was informed that the requested service had been completed, and everything checked out. To the front mans credit, he did discount the tensioner assembly (which coincidentally was the exact same part I could get at a local parts shop for roughly half the cost they initially quoted me) to just about the price I could have gotten it locally. The labor cost was fair considering the time spent on getting everything sorted, and I would gladly have the same mechanic who worked on my vehicle do so again at any time. Overall, though my initial impression was somewhat negative, the team at this pep boys made it right and got the work done fairly quickly and with professionalism. Would recommend this shop to people looking to get work done on their vehicle.

I would've given it one star but they have cool/good merch at a good price. Anywho, why have the app? Why make an appointment, when you're still going to have to wait an hour and a half for an oil change(previous visit). Some pretty cool finds enabled me to just let it go. This morning (9am)I book an appointment via pepboys app. They have my contact info, vehicle information, service requested, and I arrive a few minutes early(9:55), check in(where I confirm my name AND VEHICLE), go back to my vehicle to place insurance card on dash, before going inside excited to see their retail merchandise. Thirty minutes later I get a phone call from the clerk of why my vehicle cannot be serviced. I don't understand why I couldn't have been notified of this the moment I booked the service appt, or at least when I checked in. I hate wasting my time. I hate writing this review, but hopefully it'll help someone save some time and energy.

I know very little about how cars work and thought I'd take a chance to see if I could learn by asking Steve at Pep Boys about oil changes. He was so patient and informative that my anxiety went away. I was so scared that he might feel agitated and tell me to wait in waiting area but he was nothing like that. Steve told me so much about what oil that goes in the car, how to change it if i ever wanted to change it, showed me what the oil filter looked like, and he showed me the difference in what the oil that they drained out my car versus what the clean oil looked like. He told me about air pressure in tires and showed me where it was displayed on stickers on my car in case I forgot what size tire my car has, which is often. He showed me where it was on sticker what the air pressure should be too. Steve taught me so much information I didn't feel so ignorant anymore. Keelen, who did the actual oil change, he was fantastic too. He made me feel welcome and he showed no signs of being irritated by my presence. I definitely feel comfortable enough with them to trust Pep Boys to do even major work on my car. Thank you Steve and Keelen for really making me feel welcome to learn about oil changes, tire pressure, window tint, etc. I will always remember you, especially if I win the lottery.

I wasn't sure at first that I actually needed a complete brake system, but when he explained why I needed it, he was absolutely right. Have dealt with this location twice and have nothing good to say about it. The most recent was today, stopped in at 11:30am and asked how busy they were and if they had time for a rotation, brake check and oil change. Said they weren't real busy but it would be an hour and then they could get it in to do the work. I went across the street and ate lunch, came back and wandered around the store next door, at the hour mark I came back and they hadn't taken it back into a bay yet. Sat down in the waiting area where I could see my vehicle and after another hour (2 total at this point) I went to speak with someone. Said they got busy and it would be AT LEAST another hour before they could get it in a bay. Called the Quail Springs location, they said they could get it right in. Drove up there and they had it in a bay and all of the work done in one hour! This location is dreadful, but I have never had a problem with the Memorial Road location. If they are to busy to get to it, they are honest up front and tell me so I don't waste my time. Also, their customer service is top notch!

Really would like to give no stars. My alternator went out pep boys was the closest and should be the most reliable. I waited for the tow service for over an hour even though i was only 3 mins away. I explained to them i was from out of state and had 2 small kids with me. They spent over an hour just looking at the car to tell me at closing time my car wouldn't be fixed until 9:30 this following morning so now me and my kids was stranded all night long came up here at 9:30 and guess what they still haven't fixed my car told me i need to wait until 11:30. Really it takes 30 mins or less to change an alternator in any vehicle its very sad that your store employees feel that its okay to make paying customer's wait and wait and wait when they have young kids and not even from here. I wouldn't suggest Anybody coming here if i had known this i would have taken my car elsewhere.

I dropped $1400 into having my car repaired by a trusted mechanic (not Pep Boys) who told me afterward that all I need is a $60 front end alignment that he can't perform because he doesn't have the equipment to do this. He also told me that if whoever I end up going to for the alignment tries to tell me I need more than just the alignment to pull it out of there because I don't, truck is good. Went to this Pep Boys location where he first tryed to charge me $95 even though we called beforehand and was told $65 then proceeded to tell me that I needed another $500+ in work done in order to get a proper alignment! Immediately had them put the down and left, called my trusted mechanic (again not Pep Boys) and was reassured that it was not needed and thats why he didn't recommend replacing the parts. It's sad that we have to waste our time with crooks like this when we are all so busy already. I will never go back to Pep Boys again, not even for a simple oil change!

Took my car here to have a tie rod replaced and unfortunately Pep boys took advantage and overcharged the living daylights out of me. They charge $100 hour for work, $35 dollars for "shop fees", $20 dollars for an evaluation (which why wouldn't the evaluation just be part of the work fee?) and also charged $20 for a warranty I never asked for but showed up on the bill. This was my first go around with an auto repair shop, I'm still young and they obviously knew they could get away with this. Please, go somewhere else.... a tie rod cost me $400 dollars when it should have been only $200. Even went back in to explain all this to the guy at the counter and he just looked at me and said "oh well that's just what it is"... So yes, I have no doubt they would do this to someone else.

I have been to this store a couple of different times and had a great experience each time I came. The first time, I just went for an oil change and found the the staff to be very respectful, friendly, and courteous. (An uncommon experience for me, whenever taking my vehicle in to a repair shop) They did a good job with the oil change and also did a thorough job inspecting my vehicle for any potential issues. They found a couple things and provided recommendations on how much longer each issue could go before absolutely needing a repair, instead of trying to scare me into getting it done immediately and charging me for it. (Another uncommon experience when going to a repair shop.) I had them do some of the additional repair work for me and they got it done quickly and for a very reasonable price. Recently, I brought my vehicle back because of a lower ball joint problem. (I needed the repair done quickly on a weekend, to prepare for a roadtrip. And, this was the only place I knew that is open on Sundays!) Again, the staff was great to work with. They did another thorough job inspecting my vehicle and found additional issues with another ball joint and a control arm. (Work I don't have the tools or time to fix). Again, the repair was done quickly and for a very reasonable price. Keep up the good work!

Took my car in twice for them to look at it. My brakes were going all the way to the floor. First they told me I needed a whole front brake job. I thought it was the master cylinder but oh well. I replaced my rotors, calipers, and brake pads along with my brake lines. Brakes would work for a bit then gradually go to the floor. Took it in the second time telling them what I replaced and how it would help for a bit if I bled my brake lines. Dropped it off and got a phone call. They told me that the reason my brakes weren't working was air in the brake lines. They bled them and told me to pick it up. I told them that that didn't fix it. They said to try it out for a few days. Of course it gradually went to the floor. I will never be back since my safety is so unimportant. P.S. It was the master cylinder

This service took place months ago. I took my car to Pep Boys because it's right down the street from where I live and in the past have heard decent reviews about them. I just went for an oil change. The guy told me I had a number of issues with my car that needed to be looked at and tried to convince me to have the services done then and there. I always like to get a second opinion on my car so I told them no, and that I only wanted an oil change. So the next day I take my car to a different shop that I have had more experience with had them give me a second opinion. They advised me there were no additional issues with my car, and then proceeded to ask if i wanted an oil change though because mine was very low. So, apparently the oil change I paid Pep Boys to complete was never even done. Just, wow. I will never go to this place again. And I will be sure to let everyone I know and encounter to steer clear of them.

Awhile back, I dropped off my vehicle for an Oil Change and Tire Rotation. Got a call later saying there was a problem, that they had blew up my engine... The Managers stated they had drained the oil, and someone took it down off the lift and started it with NO OIL and it had died right there. When talking to a few employees, they stated they actually drained the oil, then went for a test drive around the block, where it died shortly out of the parking lot. Pretty bad when the Mangers cant be trusted, and lie to customers. Then they got me 2 used engines, the first was full of oil in every nook and crany, the 2nd engine wasnt the right engine for my vehicle but they installed it anyway. The engine used to stall all the time, but after some work on my end and with other DECENT MECHANICS & TECHNICIANS, ive got it running back to normal. Its funny though also that when this all happened, i had to rent a car for 2 weeks due to their F**K up, and they were only going to re-imburse me for 1/4 of what my rental was!!!! But I got all the money back out of that, just by pushing their corporate that I would turn this into a media frenzy, in which they gave and I was given a full re-imbursement. The 2 Mangers that I dealt with there at the time which I do not know if are still employeed are Mike & Trevor. Deffinently not manager worthy. They will no longer receive my business or business from my family/friends. Besides that incident, they have did a good job in the past, there are a few employees there that deserve to be promoted to a manager position, and kick out the current managers, so the location can be ran correctly.

He had someone get to my car but it took an hour for the oil change. It's not time for my next oil change but my car told me it had low oil. I decided to do my own oil change based on my experience at this Pep Boys. Once I crawled under the car I found out my oil filter isn't on correctly and has been leaking oil this whole time. I had front brakes installed at Pep Boys over a month ago. After a few days of yet having to press my brakes all the way down to the floor, I took my car back to Pep Boys. The technician took my car for a test ride and told me that "there's nothing wrong with my car". After a week with the same issue and by now the passenger front tire was feeling wobbly, I took my car back to Pep Boys. This time I met the BEST technician there: Robert. He asked me to go on a test drive with him to point out the noises that I was hearing. He put my vehicle onto the hoist and raised it. He checked the new brake parts and noticed that the new parts were warped. He told me that they will replace the parts for free. So I made the appointment with Robert for the following day. He was true to his word. Robert fixed the problem as well as another issue that I had going on. He went above and beyond the call of duty to make me a happy customer! He remained professional even when I was frustrated and upset. Because of Robert, my family will continue to shop at Pep Boys on Alpine Ave., Comstock Park, MI. If you are looking for a great technician, I highly recommend Robert at Pep Boys on Alpine Ave., Comstock Park, MI.

Purchased Definity XT radials for both my vehicles from this store in the recent past, because it is a good quality tire (made by Cooper), and Pep Boys had a decent deal on them.....but if they aren't installed correctly (not cleaning rim bead etc.) you will be re-inflating them constantly, which is what I discovered since purchasing them about 3 years ago, which is really fun when it's below zero and you are outside with the compressor for 8 tires....also, when you have them rotated there, they don't acknowledge that you have a TPM (tire pressure monitoring system), so you have to go back and have them reprogram the tire positions. I also had one of the sensors fail shortly after, which requires me to reset the tire pressure idiot light constantly, and will have to be replaced (at least $50) which I suspect is due to their inept reprogramming.

I've always bought my tires at Pep Boys. I would wait for the special : You buy 3 - 4th tire free with the rebate. I had a flat today and needed it repaired, fully covered under warranty. Brought in the tire to Pep and they said the tread on one side was only at 1/32, using their gauge. I work in a machine shop and I can eyeball 1/32". Argued to no avail. Brought that tire to NTB and told them what Pep Boys said. The guy couldn't believe it because I had 6/32" tread on the lowest spot. Pep Boys were rude and acted like I was an idiot. They don't honor their warranty. Never shop there!

I took my van in for an oil change, paid $36 which costs were supposed to include a brief inspection. They were good to get me in that day and warned me there was a 30-40 minute wait, unfortunately from arrival to completion took about two hours. I was happy enough, however, because it needed to get done and they were willing to do it same day. Wish that was the end of my experience. When I got the van home I noticed an oil leak on my drive way which previously was not occurring. I wasn't able to get it it for a few more days and oil continued to leak. I took the van back today in hopes they had just not tightened things up enough. After checking things out, apparently I have a leaky oil pan which they said must have been there for a long time as they said there was burnt oil on the pan. Things are a little suspicious to me as they mentioned nothing of this in my initial report when they had supposedly looked things over with the oil change. If it had been there already, you really shouldn't miss something that obvious especially if they are working in the area. Don't think I would trust them further with the my vehicles unless some changes happen. Either not thorough in their work or potentially caused damage, which I would like to think they probably were just not thorough.

Definitely the worse auto experience of my life. All we did was try to get our muffler replaced. After one week the tailpipe was bouncing around and melting the rear bumper. We set up an appointment for 8:00 a.m. to get it looked at the end of that week. When we showed up to the appointment they had no record that we were suppose to have an appointment. Then after two hours of looking at my van on a lift I asked for an update and they hadn't looked at it yet. After five and a half hours they finally said that it was done wrong and they couldn't fix it. Suggested I take it to a muffler shop and they would pay half. Half??? They messed it up and wanted me to pay half to have it fixed. The tail pipe is still not on my car...worst service I have ever experienced anywhere.

What a joke beleive the reviews. I tried to pull into the service bay since they said no wait and a mechanic that was sitting in his bay with nothing to do eating cheetos told me to pull back around and park out front to make things worse. Was told it would take 45 min for a oil change. No wait just come in. Went before work so i was on a time schedule and was wondering the store for over 45 min and they hadnt even touched my car!!! Last time i shop here period!!!

If I could rate them lower I would. After arriving at a scheduled appointment with them, that I drove 1hr 45 round trip for and also took 3 hours off work for, they informed me that they had no tires for my vehicle. They had ordered them but the guy that was supposed to get them called in sick. So no tires for me. A phone call from them, they had my number, would have been highly appreciated. I figure they cost me 175.00$ in lost pay and travel expenses. Can't beleive they didn't have the for thought or decency to call and tell me not to come. Thanks Pep Boys!

Went in to get a tire replaced and that part of the service was timely and decently priced. However, the customer service was horrendous. I was scolded for booking my appointment online and told that it doesn't tell them enough information about what needs to be done and that it gives him a headache (how exactly is that my fault? Take it up with whoever runs the website, not your customers.) Then I had the pleasure of listening to the same man being extremely rude on the phone with another customer and complaining loudly about him afterwards. Not impressed.

Update:- I had an issue but its has taken care by the Manager and I'm happy with their timely response. I really appreciate that they contacted me back and found the best solution for my previous experience with the store. My experience: I visited this store a couple of months back and got a quote for my car's transmission flush. Since its a CVT (continuously variable transmission), I was told that it needs special fluid, so I have to inform them before coming down for service. So a couple of weeks back, I did an online appointment for the Saturday after that (1 week time in advance) and noted, its 'CVT - Special Service Needed'. The same day I called the Pepboys and told them I will be coming down on Saturday and requested them to make sure that they have supplies for that. They said would be ready and I drove down to store next week for my service. Upon my arrival, 'Mr. Nick' said they don't have any special notes in the appointment as well as they never received the call from me. So, I have to take the car to the dealer. After some serious conversation, he agreed to do it some other day and this time he would order the fluid from the dealer right away. So he rescheduled my appointment for today (2/28/2015) and I got a confirmation as well as a reminder email that I'm set for the service. Today, when I reached the store for service, 'Mr.Bob' (Sorry to say it over here, he doesn't know how to respect the customer. He is the guy who made me to drop this rating to 1star) told me he is not finding any appointments in the system. Then they dig into the system and saw it has been cancelled!!!! Mr Bob told me "I don't have the equipment for this, you have to take it to dealer". I asked, then why they didn't inform me that. He said he don't know and was replying in a louder voice as if I did a walk-in and demanded I must get my service. So all the people were looking at me. I asked then why 'Nick' confirmed it when I met him in-person. He said, he is a parts guy, not the service guy. How will a customer get to know about that??? I met Nick in the same service counter and he did login in the same computer to look-up the car info and to do the appointment and all. I never had this kind of experience in my last 10 years as a car owner. Mr Bob, if you really hate your work, please quit. Don't show your aggression on a customer. I wasted my two weekends because of you guys being very irresponsible.

Just came in to have my check engine light codes read, in and out within ~5 min... Their reader checks all the codes that aamco would check, but you don't have to schedule it days in advance and there is no redundant paperwork that needs to be done... Came here after calling 2 different AAMCOs, one said I would have to schedule for tomorrow and it would take 30 min and the other told me I couldn't schedule a check engine light reading till next week and it would take several hours... Lol... Thanks pep boys

1.5 STARS I live 5 min from this store. Came in for a brake inspection and pads. They offered me a job for just over $500 that I passed on because I could have bought cross drilled better then OEM disks and pads on line for $380. Once I stated that to the "shop manager" we ended up negotiating a $250 brake and disk job. ISSUE 1- brakes not just seemed but screamed less then 3 days after. Took it back, had it documented and duplicated the issue (allways go on the ride withe the mechanic) and they end up putting new hardware; whatever that is, that I assumed should have been on the "brake job" to begin with and resurfacing. 3 hour wait. Two days later brakes still squealing. I took it back, complained that I never had squealing brakes in my life and it was unacceptable. Watched the mechanic drive my SUV around the block and heard the brakes as he entered the drive way. I was told that "I should have broken them in" by doing a series of speed & distance stopping. I guess I should have known that because......why? They end up putting OEM pads on it as told to me. 6 days later brakes now scream! I take it back, and tell them it is comming from the front. After a 6 hour brake job wait and them putting on ceramic brake pads, no resurface and the mechanic stated on the inspection sheet that he could not duplicate the problem. With a total 8 visits to see the store manager & shop manager and the 4 times my SUV was on the rack within this 2 month period my conclusion is this: DON'T GET YOUR BRAKES DONE AT PEP BOYS THE MATERIAL IS JUNK AND SERVICE NOT "CONSISTENTLY" PER PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS. To this day my brakes sqeal rather then scream each and everytime I brake when over 20 MPH.

Went there for oil change and brake pad change, store staff told me he will call me in 2 hours after they did brake inspection for an estimate.i left the car and no call after 4 hrs,i called them, and they didnt do anything yet after 4 hrs, they then told me they will call back in half an hour for the estimate,i told them i dont need estimate,i just want to change brake pad,but they said they need to do mmeasurement, and cant promise until they can take a look at and find out what needs to be done.after another 30mins,they called and told me that they cant just change the brake pad but need to change the rotor as well, that will cost me $400+,and they wont even have enough time to do that since the whole day has wasted.i told them cancel the brake service, and asked them about the if they done with oil change, they said they are working on it now and told me to come back another hour.so from 12pm to 6pm,they only finished oil change.very unhappy and wasted time.the next day,i went to a real auto shop, and asked for brake pad change, the mechanic helped me changed in one hour and explained that the rotor will need to change only when it is making sounds,i am happy and the cost only $120,so if you want get something done,go to a real shop and look for a real mechanic, the people their only knows to rid you off and waste your time, they don't look at urs as precious as theirs.

Took my car in on Thursday as check engine light was on, they had a commercial if this light is in we'll check it for free...this is a lie they charged us $89 and after they told us what they guessed was the problem... They guessed?? A diagnostic should have told them the exact problem... So did they not actually do a diagnostic but charged us anyway...we spoke to three different people and none of them could actually tell us what was going on...only how much they were gonna charge. We left the car there after waiting 3 hours and later they call and tell us they broke a part and would have to order a new part so no car until the next day. We called around 10am still no part and were told someone called and spoke with you yesterday and told you the part would not be in until 3pm...really? That's why I'm calling because no one called back or told us anything...this place sucks really bad...I will never go here again and I recommend no one else does either. We got much better and faster service at wheel works...only reason we tried pep boys was the advertisement for free engine light check which turned out to be a lie....false advertising at the very least.

Went for diagnostic to San Carlos, CA location. They provided me with an estimate of repairs, but for some odd reason Matthew (manager) and Raul (tech) would not write down on report the actual reason for repairs/problems (i.e. cracked/damaged part), just the cost of a new part with labor. They were willing to tell me verbally, but again, not willing to write it down. This was needed for insurance claim. George took messages but never called back or passed them on as needed. Online requests for contact were ignored. Raul originally missed a problem in his diagnosis, and then after I showed him, he started complaining to me about how little he makes an hour for the trouble. Not sure how writing down the exact problem is trouble. Will not return.

Total waste of time at Pep Boys. 1st I went in at 8am, they argued with me that I have to pay for a 69.99 diagnostic 1st. Then I got customer service on the line because at no part of the add does it state or imply that there would be a fee for this and then they said the diagnostic is 39.99. Okay, so then they take 4 hours to do a diagnostic to tell me that the clutch replacement is in fact 704 plus other stuff taking it over 1,000. And they wouldn't be able to do it today. Total waste of time. They couldn't even explain why they were including additional labor that should of been included and they couldn't even show me a car that they could do it for at the advertised price of 499.99 to replace a clutch. Price gougers and thieves. Manager didn't even want to come in and talk to me or explain it himself. At least other shops were able to give me an accurate price up front without lying to make excuses for their unadvertised price hikes! Also, I was there right at 8am, they opened the door for employees at 8am, relocked the door and didn't open the door for customers for another 5 minutes.

The worst Pep Boys I have ever been to. I had my tires for under a year, and they refused to rotate my tires with the oil change, and tried to get me to purchase new tires that day. "Your tires are almost done, it must be the way you drive that caused them to wear so bad" Bull. I had a work meeting that day so I had to dress a little better than I usually have to, and they thought that I would just be ignorant and go with their word. I have riding on those "done tires" for a year now, and they are still perfectly fine. I will never go to this pep boys again. They will try and take advantage of you. I went in and applied for a credit card, got accepted. The 6 months no interest option is a pretty good deal. I was in to buy 4 new tires for my car because winter is here and i was greeted by an awsome lady who answered my questions on the tires. My problem here was the arrogant tire service manager looking man who once I asked more specific questions about the wait time on the tire change and why it would benefit me and my car to buy the complete package that pep boys offers to their customers when changing tires. I wqsnt looking to cut corners or price, i guess i was looking for a bit of education, but he seemed very uninterested and almost seemed as though he wanted to ask me , "why would you not get a wheel alignment." I scheduled an early appointment to get my cars oil changed, tires balanced, and an alignment. I got there and they said it'll be a little bit which was fine I knew I was getting a decent amount done. After about 2 hours the guy comes out to tell me there alignment machine only goes up to 2013 models...how can you have a shop that offers that after I said over the phone my car was a 2014? Why did it take 2 hours to tell me that? Then he said he drove my damn car without telling me first, got grease all inside of it and said its fine...that's what the machine is for not a joyride. Then he tells me the coolant is wrong even though it's factory and I needed to go to the dealer. I was worried so I called the dealer and left without time to voice my agitation. As I was driving there I saw they overfilled all my tires way beyond what they needed to be and when I got to the dealer they said the coolant was perfectly fine. My car has never had overheating problems so I should of known. The dealer at least ordered a TPMS I needed and installed it at no cost. I'll never go to a pep boys again this experience was absolutely awful and I can't believe they can even call it a service. A waste of my time, money, and peace of mind.

Went in to fix a broken window motor regulator. Came out with a broken door lock. Both the mechanic and the manager refused to man up to accepting responsibility for their mistake, and furthermore said that I would have to take the car to the dealership to get the additional repair done. Made an appointment to have my car looked at, I informed the person on the phone that my steering was sounding rather strained. I figured it was low fluid, a belt, possibly a power steering pump. Got a call back from them and they said it was the power steering pump. i asked how much it would be to replace it and they told me 200 for the part and 400 for the labor including flushing and replacing all the fluid. A few hours later I receive a call and the man on the phone said they ordered the wrong part and the pump that they needed to order was going to be over 450 dollars. When they were told that I would be taking my vehicle somewhere else they informed me that they had to put everything back together because they started taking things apart before they realized they had the wrong part. To sum things up, this shop will waste your time and money and don't expect them to take responsibility for their mistakes. Not what you would call professional.

seriously, don't take your vehicle here for anything other than tires. brought my truck in for a rear end squeak and they said I needed brakes. I found this claim to be unlikely as just had the front brakes done a month earlier. no way the rear needed to be done so soon after the front but ok. I let them do a brake job. the tech struggled with installing the new brakes and it took him hours to replace the drums. guess what...truck still squeaks. took it back and they tell me they need to rip apart the entire rear of the truck just to diagnose the issue and they were asking $1000 just to diagnose the problem. funny thing is the dealer will do the same diagnostics for $90. so I'm pretty sure they ripped me off on the brakes and then turned around and tried to rip me off again.

Funny as i read these reviews especially with overheating issues. I was told i needed a new engine as my head gaskets were blown. I demonstrated my knowledge and explained there's no leaking, lost of power, or water in the oil and they tried to explain the lack of normal signs that go with diag. I took the car around the corner to find it was nothing more then a $45 thermostat. Much like other writer i have good memories of Glen Burnie Pepboys. I took same vehicle there for another reason, shop supv came out pulled tickets read them and ask what was going on with this vehicle. The counter agent explained it needed a diagnostic and was told to get the customer and explain they couldn't do it the vehicle was too new and they didnt have the codes; not knowing i was standing right there. Honesty goes a long ways I'll will pay extra for good and honest service.

If you are thinking about having tires installed by Pep Boys in Bel Air, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. I recently had a set of four tires installed by them on my Toyota Tundra. All four wheels were scatched with a zig zag pattern on an area approximately five inches long. It looked like the tires were pried off. Also, they broke a tire pressure sensor and acted like they did me a favor by replacing it with a chepo free of charge. The sensor did not work. After twenty miles the pressure dummy light came on. I had to go back to have it reset and the service manager looked at the scratches. He said I would need to return to let the store manager look at them. The store manager named Dan said he didn't believe that they were responsible for the damage and would not do anything. The rims were not damaged when they went in their shop but they were when they came out. This is an unprofessional business being managed by people that do not know what they are doing and they are unwilling to accept the responsibility of damages done by their own employees. Now I need to get an estimate on the cost of repair and decide if I am going to pay for it out of my pocket or possibly file a small claims lawsuit. Please, do yourself a favor and have automotive work done by professionals; not Pep Boys in Bel Air, Md.

Tire Rack tire installation experience was poor. Made an 8am appointment, car didn't make it into the shop until 9:15am. Car was done at 10am. 2 hours for a two-tire installation is unacceptable especially for 1st appointment in the morning. Was charged $4 each for rubber stems which came across as a rip-off. The gentleman even tried to upsell me on an oil change. When asking what the cost was for a "high mileage oil" change he presented me with a price of $70. Really?!?!? I can get one done at Mr. Tire for half that with high-mileage oil. So I guess you really don't want any future business from me... Just moved into the area and was hoping I would have a positive experience similar to the one I experienced at the Pep Boys location in Pasadena, MD. Will never use this shop again for anything since I feel like I would be worried that I was being ripped off...

I persisted that I had just been stuck at home all day because it wouldn't start and so they replaced a spark plug and the wires to it. They charged me $230 and sent me home. Two weeks later I was stranded while grocery shopping because my car would not start.

If i could give it zero stars I would but unfortunately its not possible. I was so angry that after I left pep boys on Baltimore National Pike I went straight home to write this review. I made an appointment for 10 am for changing to two tires and doing the alinement. When i got there they told me it would take around 2 to 3 hours to be done because they were backed up, so I left for 2 hours, when I came back they had not touch my car yet and I ask and they said it still was a couple cars behind but they will do it as some as possible. By the time they were able to put my car in the garage for working it was 4 PM, so it took them 5 hours after i had arrive to take my car to change two wheels. The car was in the garage for an 1 hour and 50 minutes, I took the time too actually see how much was going to take them. I'm pretty sure if I didn't stay inside the store and asking when they were going to take care of my car they would have not done anything. You could see at most 3 employees barely working on things, some sitting doing nothing, others talking. This has been the worst experience on customer service in my life and I am never going to go back to the Pep Boys in Baltimore Pike.

Okay so ten years ago, Pep Boys didn't honor a rebate of an oil change package an employee sold me. I resolved not to ever patronize Pep Boys again. So, why did I purchase tires there? I went for a tire change, it took nearly 5 hours instead of 2. But here is the real irony. When I started looking for tires on the net, Google search shows that Pep Boys carries the tires I need. However, the Pep Boys site sends me on a loop; their site search engine says they don't carry the tire. I leave the site, then I'm asked to do a survey and so I share my boycott story. Then it encourages me to call costumer service, I get a rep, tell the story. She finds the tires, says there is a rebate, sends me a special customer satisfaction coupon (which is worthless) and makes an appointment to mount the tires. Now follow me here. I reiterate I don't trust the rebate process. She assures there will be no problem, and gives a number just in case but there will be no problem. Yup, you guessed it. When it came time to submit; 1) the data window curser was jumping around on the site and 2) I also discovered the date of my service was the day after the rebate ended. Remember I was assured by customer service there would be no problem. I now call the rebate number and get a fellow willing to give me a "special exception." That's nice but I didn't make the error. So the associate tells me to resubmit and If there is a problem, call and say ****** approved the rebate. How many times do I tell this business That their practices and customer service is unsatisfactory. Really I want the CEO of Pep Boys to give me my $50 and $5 for the first rebate. And about $ 100 for time trying to get good service. Or how about a full refund?

This place is hilariously pathetic. Customer in front of me asked the cashier where he could find oil for a diesel engine. The cashier told the customer that it was a dealer only product and he would have to go to a dealership to purchase that...I kindly stepped the elderly customer aside before he walked out and showed him where the motor oil designed for diesel engines was located. Customer service in general at this location is pathetic. It's obvious that the owner of this location is too cheap to pay for anything more than high school drop out minimum wage hamburger flippers. I would suggest that you stay the heck away from this place. Only go in there if you know exactly what you need, and where to find it. If you need any type of advise/help, visit the Advanced Auto 5 miles up the street in Ellicott City. The kids working there are actually certified, and most of them graduated from some sort of automotive program.

This Pep Boys is highly competitive in pricing (best chain shop in the area as far as price goes), and seems to do the work correctly. However, they NEVER finish anything on time. I've had at least three jobs done they're and they've always taken days longer than they should. Each time I would check on the car, they would tell me it will be done in a few minutes, so I'd wait hours more.. - A wheel cylinder and shoes replacement took a week?!? - A third brake light replacement takes six hours when it's accessible from the trunk? Go somewhere else if you can afford it, you'll save a lot of time.

It was the worst experience I’ve had in my life. I brought my car to Pep Boys store (6515 Baltimore National Hwy) with a problem of vibration and noise during driving. I was told that axels should be replaced to fix this problem and an initial estimate for repair and details was $800. They said that during the repair they found another problem and the final price that I had to pay raised up to $1454! Furthermore, I found in the final bill that they added other charges such as exhaust manifold kit and a limited labor extended warranty (I specifically told Chris, the manager, that I did not need this warranty). However, the worst thing that happened is that they returned me my car even in worst condition than it was before! It sounded really loud and struggled going uphill and accelerating in general. When I brought it back, Chris tried to persuade me that nothing wrong with the car that it was just my imagination! They later admitted that the car was driving a bit rough but it was not connected with repair that they did. I had to take my car to a different garage and I was told that the problem was the drive shaft, which the replaced, and the service staff there expressed surprise at the diagnostics, repairs, cost, and experience I incurred at Pep Boys.

If you want to get work done on your vehicle or get parts to work on it yourself I highly recommend going NAPPA off 8th Ave the staff there is actually knowledgeable and can assist you with what you are looking for as opposed to this pep boys. It's a bunch of teenagers who probably don't even know how to operate the blinker on there own vehicle. Never again will I give my business to them. If they were the last auto parts store in MD I would rather buy a new vehicle every time my breaks down. They need to go outta business so a real auto parts store can come in hell Id rather see a mosque in its place

The store is well organized, but the staff didn't seem too helpful. I needed to replace a fuse, and the clerk wasn't too helpful. I had to suggest him to lead me to the tools to remove it myself , then suggested that I would return if he could help me with a nice service to get him help me. In the end I did get some help and the car was serviced, but it was uphill to get standard service from them.

Took my car here for brakes and belt... These guys are awesome!!! EXTREMELY helpful!!!! I cant compliment how they all worked together!!! i knew the job would take some time, and the waiting room is awesome! I felt bad watching them through the glass in the A/C while they were busting their butt in the heat! I wish i could remember all their names so i could call em out (i'm terrible with names)... BUT... I had one problem when i left... and let me tell you how they handled it... Brakes done... Belt done... Paid shook their hands... got in my truck and the blower motor quit working!!! i knew they didn't and COULD NOT have done anything to it because they didn't work anywhere near the inside of the truck! well i thought ill pull it back to the garage and see if they could look at it and i could always replace the motor when i got home... Well let me tell you as i drove home with the A/C blowing full strong i was overwhelmingly appreciative because Kenny the GENERAL MANAGER that was working with his mechanics to do the Belt and Brakes came out and diagnosed the problem and installed a new one in minutes!!!! whatta Boss!!! and whatta crew he has working WITH him!!!! I ready the reviews from the past... and I have a feeling there is a new Team in there now and they are awesome!!!! Thanks again!!!

First of all, great customer service from everyone at Pep Boys. Brought my 2013 Tundra in for new tires and alignment. Manager, Josh Gray had the truck in the bay right away. I left for lunch and when I returned I had a short wait as Christian finished the alignment. Love, love the new Michelin LTX M/S2 tires and alignment. Truck runs smoother, quieter, straighter and brakes even better. I will be bringing my Tundra back to Pep Boys in the future.

I know I will not visit this store again. I speed in 3 days ago to get floor mats. I want sure which color and they could not find a way to accommodate me so I could try each color in my car. I even offered my drivers license to hold. ..my car was 5 feet from the door! I went to the one 75th and Peoria, what a shock walking in. Clean! I was greeted and bought 2 sets. Ended up I needed to return one, and speed back at Cactus. They guy on today was a joke. He was helping a customer, but while he looked up he didn't acknowledge me. As he became more involved w/assisting the customer, he just continued to talk and talk, and then walked away with him. I mean, even the wife looked at me, like, I'm sorry. I had no problem waiting, after 5 minutes in left. Now I read the reviews on this store. Duh, horrible customer service, and very dirty.

Do not have your vehicle serviced by pepboys. I took my 07 impala to the 35th ave/cactus ave location to diagnose the cause of an oil leak. The work they suggested be done was to total $341. After i went to another shop for a second opinion and showed them the write-up pepboys gave me, i discovered fixing the oil leak would cost only $107 and that pepboys suggested repairs and replacements on parts that were fully functional. 1. Always get a second opinion 2. Never take your vehicle to pepboys

I called them and they said oh yeah, we remember you... you needed the new radiator. THAT WAS A LIE! if it were true they would have tried to upsell and service while i was there and they didnt, i called a shop nearby and turns out that somehow my thermostat was tampered with... i wonder how that happened. The guy known as "little Brandon" here totally screwed me over. On monday he was supposed to order four KYB schocks for my car, a serpentine belt, and a third brake light. All of this was supposed to be installed at my 8am appt today. I called yesterday, thursday, and spoke to Jeff to confirm everything was ready to go. He said yes. So I showed up and NOTHING was ready to go. They were about to put Monroe shocks on my car LOL. Nice job losing a $1,000 transaction for pepboys you guys. Total scam artists!! I called the store and Brandon quoted me a price with a coupon he had for an oil change. I bought the car in and dropped it off with him and he told me the oil filter would be $3 more and I would have to pay for an extra quart of oil. I said no problem and can I pay now because I will be in a hurry when I pick the car up. He said they can't do that but will be quick when I pick it up. I picked the car up, paid the bill thinking it was high but I had to get back to work. When I got back to work I looked at the bill and they didn't give me the coupon discount. I called thinking it was an honest mistake and an easy fix... That is when he told me that the coupon he gave me doesn't work for my car. He gave me the coupon! Beware!!!

I scheduled an appointment for an oil change. When I got there, they said I have to wait at least 40 minutes. Really? Do you understand how appointment works? I came in on 2 different occasions. The first time I came in, the employee looked at me annoyed that she has to work. I gave her benefit of the doubt that it might be a bad day. Nope, the second time, same thing from another guy. I apologize for paying your salary. With an oil change comes a complimentary vehicle inspection. The report said I need 4 new tires and an alignment. I just have Costco replaced my tires a month ago and didn't even drive 1k miles on them and my alignment was done 2 weeks prior. From there, I stopped listening. What a waste of time.

Thank you for wasting my time and gas despite being a customer who purchased his Cooper Rs3-A's at your store. I called an hour and a half ahead to schedule an appointment for a quick tire rotation. I waited, then drove to pepboys and said I was there for my rotation appointment. The guy looked at me with a puzzled expression but looked up my name and yep there I was on the list. Oh but sorry, they can't take any more cars because they are too busy he says. Are you kidding me? First off, why even bother scheduling a time for me to come in if you know you're too busy? Second, why not call and tell me it has to be rescheduled instead of letting me drive there to find out? Hour and a half and my gas wasted due to their poor planning and lack of concern for the customer. This review would be 1 star except Chad the manager was helpful in the past.

I mentioned the purpose of having an appointment and come 1230 my truck still hadn't moved. I decided to get my keys and leave. No one attempted to make it right or see what they could do for me. Brought my car in for an oil change. Wow, called an hour later to see what the status of the oil change was. Kent from the store says it was taking longer because there was a problem with a drain plug and that "whoever did it last time screwed it up." Turns out it was also this same location. I shared this information to which he replies "hmm, I dunno." After admitting the good ol Pep Boys "screwed up" the job last time, and refusing to pay for additional service, they replaced the plug, but recommended I get a new oil pan and gasket to fix all the newly found leaks. No thanks, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Last Wednesday, my car didn't start. Pep Boys said it was my starter. Paid over $470... Today, exactly ONE week later, I'm back again. According to Pep Boys, they said that my battery is dead and my alternator is bad. I questioned them of how did they check last week if it was my starter. The guy explained to me that they FIRST check the battery, the alternator, and THEN the starter. I asked if they did check the battery and the alternator BEFORE the starter, why didn't they detect anything bad with my battery and alternator. They said that it was "good" during that time. Even tho I did NOT drive anywhere far nor did anything UNusual with it. Yes, I am confused that if they checked LAST week on my battery, alternator, and THEN my starter, why did they give me a starter first when I'm NOW getting a new battery because they said that it was dead and now I have to purchase a new alternator. The guy says that he cannot give me my car information from last week because "it's locked up" that only the managers in the morning can do that.

The DREAM TEAM! I want to set the record straight. If you go to this Pep Boys ask for Daniel or Trevor for assistance and ask that William work on your vehicle. You will not be sorry! Here's my scenario..... I flew from Seattle to LA to pick up a 1985 Toyota DLX 4x4 that i had purchased online. About two hours into my journey 40 miles outside of Fresno I went over a bump and lost ALL POWER to my new truck. I was beside myself. I called my wife, AAA, and Pep Boys in Fresno where I spoke with Daniel. I told hime the situation, and what I though was wrong with the vehicle and asked if he could help. He told me to tow the truck in and they would get on it as fast as possible. Unfortunately by the time I got to Pep Boys they were closing in 45 minutes and told me they probably would not get to work on my vehicle tonight. Totally understandable! Hey life happens. I left my truck with them and got a hotel room for the night. The nest day I went back to Pep Boys around 10:15am. Trevor told me exactly what was up with my truck. They were on it, and that I should be back on the road with in the hour. He quoted me a estimate of $150.oo for parts and labor. That sounded more than fair to me. They finished up with the truck in about an hour and for $25.00 less than the estimate!!! Every employee I encountered at this Pep Boys was more than professional and helpful. They bent over backwards to get the job done fast and done right the first time. The fixed my truck faster than I could have imagined and for such little money. The only down side to this is that I live in Seattle and not in Fresno. So if you live in Fresno and need car work done hit up Pep Boys and ask Daniel or Trevor for assistance. And make sure you insist that William service your vehicle. Professional, Courteous, Helpful, and Fast. What more could you ask for from your DREAM TEAM?!

At first I really liked pep boys and would go for routine maintenance on my car. They were good to me for about 2 years. Then they messed up a lot. I took my car in to get my fuses replaced which they did a good job on. But when they were finished they brought me a electronic box and said, "we don't know what this is." I found out later that they removed my cruise control computer! I could no longer use cruise control. I also got my brakes pads replaced. But they put the wheel back on wrong and my wheel flew off my car while I was on the freeway! It took weeks to get contact from the manager. They claimed it wasn't their fault and did nothing to fix my car. I do not recommend this Pep Boys ever.

Car was making a really annoying noise when I went over bumps. I took it here because it was near by. The lady at the front desk Rose was pretty helpful. I asked if the machanic would ride around the block with me to hear what I was talking about. He seemed really uninterested and never asked a question the entire car ride. I asked him if he had any ideas his response "no I'll have to see when we lift it." I'm fine with that. Cut to an hour later I receive a call telling me that its the dashboard and its old age. The "actual" machanic took one test drive and looked no further. It's a 2008. It's no spring chicken but the sound is clearly a loose metal sound hitting another metal piece. They didn't charge me the inspection fee we agreed upon, BUT it was a giant waste of my time. Hopefully you don't bother with a poor excuse for a service and repair shop like I did.

Definitely don't take your car here. I had brought my car in for a tuneup because I didn't have time to do it myself. Labor was excessive. I ended up paying a couple thousand. Later on found out things they were supposed to replace, they didn't and they charged me full price. I also bought there best alternator after mine failed and I went through 3 of them before they actually found one that wouldn't fail. Parts are crap, and labor is way to much for the quality of work they do.

If you want to PAY someone to break your car, come to this location. This Pep Boys is an utter disappointment and plays into every terrible stereotype about dishonest and untrustworthy auto mechanics. I brought my car to the shop because my check engine light was on and the car had been making an odd running sound for about 6 weeks. After diagnostic tests, they found issues amounting to over $4,000.00. I was uncomfortable with the cost, as well as weary of the information Pep Boys had given me on the phone, considering it didn’t line up with the issues I had been experiencing. I wanted a second opinion. After paying $100 for the diagnostic test, I drove away to find my car INOPERABLE. The car shook as I drove and there was a loss of power. I immediately turned around to tell the Pep Boys employee that my car was NOW in terrible condition, that I couldn’t make it up the hill, and I feared for my safety. His response was simply that, “you never know when bad parts are going to fail.” I explained that I had been driving this car for 6 weeks without these issues and now, after a Pep Boys “diagnostic test,” my car could not drive 2 miles up the road. I was dismissed by him and the only solution offered was that in 3 days, on Monday, “someone who knows automotives” would be in and could do more diagnostic testing. I was floored. So, who had looked at my car earlier?! There was no willingness to look the car over again, no discount given to me, and I was forced to leave the establishment with an unsafe vehicle. The sad fact is that I sought out a Pep Boys here because my family has used them back home for over 10 years now and trusts them with everything! Unfortunately, this Pep Boys location is the black sheep of the business, not concerned with your safety, not customer service related, and only care about making a profit off you.

Guy at the front desk sounded very unprofessional and unfocused when I called to ask about a simple diagnostic test. I made it clear I was open to bringing the car in anytime over the weekend as their schedule would allow, but he made it clear they could fit me in late afternoon Friday. I told him I had a 20-minute drive to the shop and was never warned about what would happen next. I get there, identify who I am, then he goes to look at the schedule and says he doubts he could fit me in. He fumbled and tried to make excuses as to why this outcome was acceptable which is was not. Last year I went in to request a flush and change of transmission fluid, and a different manager there made an off color remark that I won't repeat hear and discouraged me from pursuing this. I'm a responsible, friendly guy who never ever ever leaves negative reviews until now. My advice, avoid this shop if at all possible.

We've had a number of things done by Pep Boys over the past few years. We've always been happy with the result. On a couple of occasions they have gone above and beyond. In one case, they kept us waiting a long time for an oil change but then in good faith they did it for free. On another occasion, they worked with us quite aggressively on price to help us fix our aging car on a budget.

The manager in the tire department has been great. His crew is another story. It started when I bought my tires. They didn't cover my beige seat and floor and got black stains on them. I called customer service. Still waiting to have that straightened out. I bought seat covers and floor mats from Advance Auto. No one can see my black beige seat now. I was offered free oil change for that Incident. They can give me something to clean the seats myself and I'd be happy. I've had 3 rotations. All have been a problem. They basically didn't want to rotate the tires. They're always behind or can't get to my car. The last time I made an appointment online under notes I said if they're behind or can't get to me call and left a number. I live about 25 minutes away. When I arrived I was told they were behind and couldn't get to my car that day. I call the customer service. The manager called back and I only go to him now. They need to clean house and get a new crew. The group they have in there now are awful. 10/19/2015 update. Even though they ruined my driver's seat and my floor mats they decided not to pay for having my car detailed and they took back the free oil change. But I can pay for one. NOT. Even though I haven't had these tires long I'm getting rid of tbem at tax time. They're noisy and ride rough. I've always use Firestone, I think I'm going back to them.

I am here from Florida with a company, and I have needed service, maintenance and some special order emergency items. They have always gotten my Emergency Situations taken care of ASAP. I have a total of 4 trucks and a cargo van. The Service from the Shop Manager has been great, and all of the work done has been at a great cost. not to high and not to low. They always let me know what needs to be done, and what can just be done to limp by if that is what I needed, though I have always had everything repaired to standard. Yes I have spent 7K but other places wouod have charged more, and not done as well. THANK YOU ALL!!!

Went in there with a 2006 Buick Lucerne CXL that had a broken belt and they REFUSED to because it had a Northstar engine. Danny was very dismissive and rude. When I first entered they told me it would be a while because they had alot in front of me. I replied with "that's fine I'm in no rush" and then with a roll of his eyes behind his glasses he says "fine then, I'll meet u outside and I'll take a look". Through all his huffing and puffing he said his techs refuse to work on Northstar engines. Will not go back. Tearing up this rewards card as we speak. It's funny because they had no problem take $900 for breaks and a dog bone mount from me before. UPDATE: Car was fixed at the dealership for $325! They told me Pepboys was good for oil changes but not for real mechanical work. Said they get alot of business from Pepboys being right around the corner. Just astounded that the dealership would be cheaper and so much more easier (not to mention NICER) than Pepboys. Danny from Pepboys also told me they would have to take the engine mount off in order to change the belt which turned out to be untrue. I had the water pump tensioner and water pump belt replaced. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! READ THE REVIEWS! THE ONLY GOOD REVIEWS ARE FROM EMPLOYEES! I MEAN WHAT CUSTOMER KNOWS THE STORE NUMBER LMFAO!

Their service department is amazing! Fair, will work with you and not overcharge. We drive from over an hour away to go to this location because of the service department. A closer Pep Boys quoted $1300 for my breaks and would take a week to get me in and this site did the same job for $400 and did it same day. Dave is the best.

Went to get 4 tires and an alignment. I was told the idler arm, pitman arm, and outer tie rod end needed to be replaced and it wold cost $700. I took my car to another shop and the idler arm and pitman arm were find. The outer tie rod ends and stabilizer bar links needed replaced. Not sure if the mechanic knew what he was talking about. Also they were going to charge me almost 3 times the cost of the parts and $96 an hour labor. I would like my car fixed not be robbed. The staff was very friendly and I would buy tires from pep boys, but i would not recommend any other service other than an alignment done because they charge you more than twice the amount for parts and $96 an hour labor and may not even diagnose the correct problem.

Do not trust. Bought 4 tires A/T for my truck with roadhazard First i do not have tpms and asked them not to try. I was charged 38 dollars for 4 service kits I kept two tires and was charger 10 dollars for 4 tires disposal There tires only include the one initial balancing. Not even a second for when the tires settle. Might as well go to walmart where they atleast offer lifetime. I paid for an alignment and at the least the steering wheel was off center when i got it back. They gave me crap about how the steering needed work but my steering is fine and months later it is exacly the same. They could have centered it and it would still be fine. WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. The alighnment guy didnt get the steering wheel straight and was too lazy to get in there a second time and do it right so he just pushed it out the door and hoped i was stupid. And yes i was stupid but only for ever comming here And pep boys. Dont bother responding to this about contacting customer service like I matter because i have already and you dont care. Nothing! They will definitely rip you off! We were in town for the weekend, 4 hrs and a different state away and had a problem. They quoted the problem a $600 job. We chanced it and drove home. Father in law looked at it and ended up being a $60 part!! So they were going to charge over $500 for labor!! And it was only a 45 minute fix!!! Horrible judgment!!

Ok so this is gonna be a long one. Long story short: 8hrs to change oil and swap air filter on 2011 ram 3500 diesel. Dropped off at 11am. Work "scheduled" to be performed; oil change, fuel filter, reverse bulbs replaced, tire rotation, brake check, air filter replaced and code pull from the engine. Called at 5 for an update after no info from anyone at pepboys. No one could figure out how to change fuel filter. No one knew correct oil filter. Bulbs were good narrowed it down to an electrical problem. Air filter changed. Get a call at 6 truck is ready. Picked it up at 7 already dark.Code was deleted with no explanation as to why it came on in the first place. . Fuel filter not changed. Told the reverse light issue was an electrical issue try some one else. Chapter 2. The Next Day: Went outside and noticed my front brake dust covered wheels were still on the front of the truck. Called about the tire rotation getting missed. They advised me to bring it back by and they'd make it right. So I did, like a dummy. I waited one hour for them to rotate tires. I'm a patient person but I do think I'll take my companies business and mine somewhere else. SUMMARY:9 hours to rotate tires, change oil and swap air filter. I'm not a master mechanic but I know plenty of amateurs that could do that in 2 hrs without a pro shop.

Took my 2000 Honda CRV in for a tire rotation and balance and the service writer was floundering but what caught my eye was the Tech named Chris. I went there for an oil change. When I dropped my car off and asked what the price would be the service manager mumbled what sounded like a reasonable $18. When I went back to pick my car up, they told tell me that there were other problems with my car that needed to be fixed (my car is 3 years old and has less than 35,000 miles on it), and then told me that the charge for my oil change was $80! Even for synthetic oil, the dealership would have charged me less than that. The service manager's response was "I'm sorry if you misunderstood me". Crooks!

Throughout the years, I’ve had good luck with Pep Boys, especially with tires. Moved here from Florida a few years back. Bounced around to a couple of local shops (it's a bit of a drive from my house) and gave these guys a shot and they were awesome. There are two guys there working the counter, Gino and Justin. Both of these guys are fantastic to deal with, and if you need major work done, will get you tremendous value if you ask. Justin has taken amazing care of me (and my family vehicles) my last two visits and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. I used to just use Pep Boys for tires, but my last few experiences, particularly with this shop have been fantastic. If you need tires, brakes, belts, whatever, see Justin or Gino. they will hook you up.

I brought my car into this shop after a friend who was changing my oil snapped the oil plug bolt head off, I was very concerned that this may cost a lot of money to fix because sometimes you have to replace the oil pan which can be very labor intensive. Chris at the service counter was very helpful and explained to me the how the repair would go, he gave me the best case (bolt is removed) scenario and worst case (replace oil pan) up front with a ballpark price. Chris was able to get my car into the shop pretty quickly to Raami who was able to remove the broken bolt with ease, all in all the repair was quick and affordable.

I was stuck on 81 and got towed here 30 minutes before they closed. Even though they were so close to closing they still gave my car a quick look. Ended up needing a timing belt. The staff stayed late and fixed my car right then and there. Didn't even hesitate. I had just got a new belt and alternator a week prior at a shop in watertown called Get-r-done. The staff here showed me what the mechanic at get-r-done did wrong and allowed me to take a picture and wrote a comment on my recipe to take back to Get-r-done and have them reimburse me for all the work Pep Boys did. They turned my very stressful situation into a pleasant one. I'm very thankful for the staff at this facility for being so understanding and helpful. If I didn't live an hour away I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

I have been to this pepboys many times in the last 9 years. I always come back because of the people. From the parts department to the service desk. My favorite person to see there is Joe G. assistant service manager. He knows who I am and I know I can trust him with my car and more importantly with my family's safety. If he tells me something about my car.....that's the way it is, never second guess this man. He is the most honest service writer I have ever delt with. 5 stars for this garage and 10 stars for Joe G.

I've relied on Pep Boys for a few repairs, mostly tire related, for the past few years. I had my brake pads done this fall, and the cost was about what I expected. Today, I dropped the car off to have the tires swapped out for the spring, and I told them that the brakes were making some grinding noises, so I expected I would have to get the rear brakes done this time around. They called and said that the brakes only needed to be cleaned, and the total cost would be less than $100 dollars. They could easily have given me new brakes, charged me for it, and I would have been none the wiser. I greatly appreciate their honesty and efficiency. I'm going to Pep Boys for all my repairs.

Pep Boys did a nice job getting my car evaluated in a timely manner (I called on a Saturday at 10:40am and they had me in at 11:15am). They also were honest with the result of the evaluation. I went to Pep Boys with a power steering fluid leak in my 2004 VW Passat. Bill, the service desk technician at Pep Boys, made me aware that the cost would be an initial $29.00 for a fluid evaluation. After the evaluation, Bill made me aware that I had a couple of hose clamps that were loose and that his mechanic had tightened them for me. The total cost for the work was $37.00 with an oil dye universal charge which seals the hose clamps to the coupler. All in all it was a pleasant experience and I would recommend them in the future. The technicians were honest and cooperative which made for a smooth transaction.

I have been doing business with these folks for over 5 years. This store has had numerous managers in all departments. The current team of Bill, Tim, Tom has this store running very smoothly. These gentlemen are knowledgeable, courteous and will work to help you understand the products and the services they provide. Automotive repair has changed dramatically since I was on the "line" almost 40 years ago. Pep Boys corporately has changed for the better as well. The folks at this store are well trained and are genuinely there to help you. Honest conversation and expectations will yield honest repairs and satisfaction,. Please give them a try. >tc

I usually come to Pep Boys because they have decently priced oil changes and they usually work in a timely fashion. However, after today, I will never be returning to this Pep Boys. The customer service is absolutely terrible. I scheduled an appointment for 3pm for an oil change, and arrived around 2:30 to check in. The tech gave me an hour estimate for my oil change to be finished. It is now 4 and my car is just now being taken into the garage- so I will have to wait another hour for the oil change to actually take place. That about a 2.5 hour wait FOR AN OIL CHANGE, after I was quoted an hour time estimate. I made a complaint about the longevity of the situation and the inaccurate time estimate, and was talked down to by an employee with a rude condescending tone who just fed me excuses and refused to be proactive in problem solving and taking care of my complaints. I made an appointment for a reason, and it's not to sit in the Pep Boys lobby for 2.5 almost 3 hours waiting for an oil change. At that point, I would probably get in and out faster had I just walked in, appointment free. I am extremely unhappy with the situation, and I will not be returning. I do not recommend anyone else come to this Pep Boys.

Although there are a lot of 1 star reviews here I wanted to give this Pep Boys the benefit of the doubt. That was a mistake. I thought maybe they have fixed their recent problems. And because I’ve generally had a good experience at the other Pep Boys I’ve been to, why not give these guys a try. On my first visit here I waited over 15 minutes at the service counter without seeing an employee. You know the situation; a line full of customers standing around with their arms crossed wondering if anyone actually works there. Eventually someone did come out and I asked about getting a wheel balance done. He said it would be 4 hours so I then enquired about setting an appointment the following day. I came in the next day at the scheduled time and was again told it would be 3-4 hours before my car could be serviced. I asked the service tech Eric, “Why do you set appointments then?” He gave a nonsense answer and I left. It’s my view the purpose behind setting an appointment is to minimize a customers wait time while allowing the business to operate smoothly. It goes without saying; don’t set appointments unless you are willing and able to honor them. Please respect your customer’s time. We respect yours by being there at the scheduled time.

Pep boys fucked up my car. I went in for a simple oil change for my Jetta GLI. I made an appointment for four. It took forever to get my car in the shop. Then after the first oil change it started leaking. I brought it back. They said they fixed this. In total I brought my car back three times. Then I finally just took it to Volkswagen who in short terms they said that Pepboys fucked up my car. It constantly leaks now and it makes a whining. It doesn't idle in the same RPM. Seriously just don't even waste your time here. They're customer service is so rude, too. Really if you want quality service and a car don't even come here. They're a joke.

One of the worst car experiences I've ever had. I consider myself pretty patient, as nothing in life ever goes exactly as planned. However, I ended up waiting over 3 hours to only be told that my car has yet to be looked at. I made an appointment earlier in the week, so this was surprising that they were having so much trouble getting to it. They told me that they initially looked at my vehicle but had to stop do to other customers cars. Then I went outside and my car was in the same parking spot as when I arrived. So yes it is possible that they looked at my vehicle then drove it back but it is unlikely, I think they were just trying to save some credibility. The vehicle was not fixed and they said they wanted to put it back in their shop later in the day. Anyway, I don't want to infer anything, I just had bad a bad experience and bad service. In the end my vehicle still had problems, I took time off work for nothing. Heed my advice and search elsewhere for your automotive needs!

Yeh the reviews can say a lot but I decided to give this place a chance. The appointment was easy to set up and I showed up early in the morning and waited for my car. Had my oil changed here. The guys did a great job. It did run a bit long maybe by 15 min passed promised time. The reason not 5 stars because they forgot to reset my oil change light. I know new cars with all the digital gadgets can be a mile to keep up with but if after checking my car with a checklist don't just leave the light flashing (the fixed it very quickly after I pointed it out)..lol over all good experience and great costumer service.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I will not give pep boys my money again.... In January my husband went to get his small pick up aligned right before we were headed out of town, it was not done right becaise as my husband drove it kept pulling to the right, when we got back he took it again only for the guy to have 3 hours and call us to tell us rgat the truck could not get the alignment because the tie rods needed to be fixed, he then gave us a quote of 450 dollars to fix it and then align it, we didnt have money to do that so my husband said he would fix it and bring it in to get aligned after the guy told us that it would be fine... my husband fixed it and we then took it in to get aligned amd they call us to te us that they cannot align it under warranty because he changed springs that were changed before the first time we took it in for the first alignment, this is ridiculous and we will not go back!!!!!!

Terrible service. I called on my way home and said I was driving with a flat that maybe I shouldn't have been. I was told be here in the next 15 or so minutes and we can get you in. Luckily I live close and dropped it off and the manager acted like it was an inconvenience to have to fix my car, but I figured I should add an oil change and stuff to make it worth my time. Well 4 hours later (after close) my car is still not done having it's oil changed, none of the wiper blades have been changed, and it's still up on the jack. My tire cannot be fixed and they just figured this out, 4 hours after dropping it off and after time closing time. So now I have a flat still that I must find a new tire repair shop to contact at 8 pm at night. Overcharged for products, they left a huge mess of their crap all in my car, and the customer service was terrible. 10 minutes does not mean an hour later. Last time I ever come to this place.

As an A.S.E. certified Auto Mechanic, I would recommend going ANYWHERE else. I'll make a list to prevent a LONG, HORRIBLE review..... 1) Even though I had a 12 pm appointment, my car wasn't taken into the shop until almost 3 pm (Due to the fact that the "Manager didn't arrive to unlock the Early Drop Box until noon) 2) Called to check on progress @ 2:45 pm, because I hadn't heard from them all day, and was informed that the car was NEXT to bring in. 3 HOURS late! 3) Received a call an hour AFTER they FINALLY pulled my car in to inform me that they DIDN'T EVEN HAVE MY TIRES. They even had the gull to try to "Up-Sell" me into a more expensive set of tires 4) Arrived to pick up my car, and didn't even get apology for ANY of the above mentioned. Edwin (Service Adviser), Brian (Manager), and the cashier obviously don't care about customer satisfaction, or return customers. It's a shame too, they actually had the best price on the tires I wanted, but I will happily pay a little more to get good customer service ( at ANY OTHER SHOP). SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I personally will NEVER shop this store, and have my doubts about Pepboys in general if they condone or "overlook" a store with so many HORRIBLE reviews and do nothing about it.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience here and will never be back. I had an appointment at 10am and they told me it would be an hour to change my battery. It was 1045am and they still hadn't touched my car. I asked how much longer it would be and got a rude comment back about how it only takes 10 minutes to change a battery (it took them over 25 minutes) and they don't have enough techs. Do not set appointments if you can't get to them on time or don't have enough techs to do it.

Brought a work van in for tires. They explained to me I needed brakes and a new radiator as well. I agreed to replace the tires and the radiator and have the brakes fixed for over $2000. At the end of the day I got the van back to my employee who drove it home back to Bailey CO. An hour later he called saying he was stranded on 285 and there was fluid all over the highway. After going up to get him, we had the van towed to a local mechanic who discovered that the engine oil coolent hose attached to the new radiator was never clamped on and blew apart. The result? It ran the engine out of oil and seized the motor. After calling the store and explaining I was told all managers were gone. After calling a regional manager several times I was told there was nothing they could do. The moral.....if you need something fixed, I have a 4 year old daughter who'd love to give it a try. And it would be safer and she can be accountable for her mistakes. No one at this entire company cares. The good news is I scrapped the van, with the new tires, for $250.

I received Excellent Service from the Pep Boys on 44th. My car kept dying on me. I took it to several mechanics one replaced my alternator, another said I needed a new battery. After all that I took it to Pep Boys ( For another battery because the car drained my battery again) and the new manager Dan found out that the wires that were connected to my alternator were the problem. Not only did he give me a great price after several discounts ( one for being a Senior) his work is guaranteed and he gave me peace of mind. I feel safe driving my car again. I was not very pleased with my experience at pep boys today. I usually get my tires at big o but since it's Sunday they aren't open. I dropped my car off for a flat tire this morning at nine am. There were only two customers in front of me in the line and it took 30 minutes for them to finally get to me. They had several employees doing seemingly unimportant tasks and only one working the counter. They told me it would take an hour. At 1130 I called and was told they'd look at my car in another 30 mins. I finally got a call from them at 2 and was told my tire is unrepairable and that they won't replace my one bad tire unless they do all four, that it's company policy. Mind you my other three tires are all brand new. Sounds like a rip off to me.... Took my tire to big o and they had it patched and ready to go in minutes. Needless to say I won't be back. Crooks

I didn't like this place at all. I took my son there to get some tires for his care and right away I was unimpressed. It took entirely way too much time for us to even be helped and there were four people at the counter chuckin and jawin with each other having a good old time. They didn't seem all that willing to communicate with my son about the tires (as this is his first car) they could have been more thorough with a better job of explaining to my son how the process works and what they will actually do for him in a more clear and direct fashion other than shrug their shoulders, take his money, and tell him the issue is not completely resolved but that's the best we can do now gives us all your money kid. Was my first time experience at Pep Boys and I was totally unimpressed. luckily I've got a local mechanic who does quality work, at fair prices, and doesn't try to sell you anything you don't need. I won't let my son go back here and get ripped off again. I'll take him to the local guy next time instead of the big box chain store.

I fixed my car in there. When I received my car. I found they told me which my car parts should fixed but it is not fix.And they also charge my money. And even worse thing is they told me my car should fix in 1 week. But I wait half months for the part. I understood their condition but when I receive the bill I found the important part just order two day before I received car and the other parts they has stock. Denver is not my home.So when my money is empty I stay in street three days!!! I cost 2300 dollar to wait they fixed. But when I pray for manager a discount .The owner of this store as hard as the nether millstone. He just want money so he give me only 160 dollar discount... If God give me another life.I want stay in this store and tell everyone what they do.

Rip-offs! The company advertises discounts and coupons, but the store employees and managers will do anything not to honor them. (They seem personally polite people, but it seems like discounts and coupons they are their pet peeves.) Plus they are always "recommending" the most expensive solution than genuinely finding the economical way. You can't even walk away from an estimate, because there is usually some kind of inspection fee that is almoat 1/3 of the total quoted price. Always understaffed, almost impossible to find help.

I have had more than one instance where all I needed them to do was put a tire on or something that would take 15 minutes. Sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours just to tell me they wouldn't get to it. Today it will be sometime in the afternoon before it's even pulled in Never again

I just don't even know where to began with my experience at pep boys today.... I go there too get an oil change and a brake inspection and they come back with a quote of $1000 saying I need all new pads and rotors, that they are almost metal to metal. So with that being said I sit there shocked and then tell them to go ahead it has to be done. I leave and they cal me and tell me they need the key to my tires and I tel them I don't have one that I didn't get one when I got my car so they say they think they may have one and will call me back. They call back and say they don't and won't be able to do the brakes. I go back and as I have had time to think I question them on how would they know that I needed new brakes and rotors without being able too get the tire off, completed shocked and the manager agrees and apologies over and over. So by this time I'm beyond frustrated and go to my car and see that I have no new sticker for my oil change so I go back In and question if an oil change was even done and by this time the manager is just shocked and apologies and says I have to give you your money back. I just can't believe I was about to give them that much money and they didn't even know if I truly needed all new pads and rotors. Beyond dissatisfied and will never return.

I had a flat 30 miles from this store. The donut wasn't going to take me the 2.5 hours home. I called these people around 715pm, and they had my tire in stock. Derrick and Coda stayed open late for me and waited for me to arrive so I could make it home safe!! I just kept in contact with them to let them know I could make it by 750ish when they are normally closing down shop. Thanks guys! Friendly and helpful crew.

I purchased 4 cooper tires to be installed on my truck. After installation I noticed some light damage to one of my wheels. Randall the manager was quick to resolve my issue. He had my wheel repaired and looking brand new within the next two days. The service level was great and I felt appreciated as a customer. I will be doing business with them again.

Needed an O-ring for a home improvement project. It was a normal but very important part to this project that was unable to proceed (ill never understand just how the one I had a second ago dissolved into oblivion) until I had that silly part replaced. I had no idea where to go to even look for something like that, but a friend recommended I try PepBoys since he had good luck finding random or hard to find things there in the past. Thankfully I went in and found exactly what I needed in just a few minutes my project was back on track all thanks to Pep Boys!! Im thankful.

Very bad experience, with one employee that claimed he was acting assistant manager that day. He couldn't help me with anything, nor did he seem interested in helping even if he had the answers. I wanted to purchase a video camera for my son but was unable to find a key for the display box which he only looked for in one drawer for at least 10mn. And basically acted insulted when i suggested he look in another area or ask another employee if they knew thew where the key may be. I also overheard a call to the store where the employee stated to the caller " there is no manager or assistant manager here today, I am the One In Charge. " This is not the only situation at this store. And im finished

Absolute worst place I've ever been to for an oil change. I was told 45 minutes to get it done, 3 hours later I'm still here. The guy said I needed a new oil plug, guess what, they didn't have any, they had to go to Orileys auto parts to get one! I thought Wal-Mart was bad, but this place is the black hole of auto service shops. No sense of urgency, concept of time, or organization. I will never ever visit another Pep Boys for as long as I live! I'd give this place a minus 5 stars if I could.

Worst service ever! I took my car for a simple inspection. They said they were busy and it would be a while, so I said no problem I'll leave the car and pick it up later. By the next morning I still had not received a call, so I called them. I was told that apparently I left the wrong key. However, they wrote the wrong phone number down so they were unable to get a hold of me. So, I went to drop the correct key off, then I'm told that they don't have anyone there to do the inspection. I went back 2 days later and was once again told that the "technician" was not there.

The absolute worst experience I have ever had. Will no longer take personal or business vehicles there. Service desk did not do what I took the vehicle to do. Told me 2.5 hours for brake job, oil change and tire rotation. Dropped off at 2 pm Saturday. Called at 5pm Saturday and was told they would check on the car and call me back. Move to Sunday at 10am, I drive by and see my car still in the spot it was left. I call and they said it was done. Went to pick it up and all they did was oil change and a brake inspection. Talk to manager. He said he would lower brake job price from $190 to $99. Also lower rotors from $85 to $50. Agreed and left the car again until 5pm Sunday. Went to get the car and price was not as promised. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME THERE. Take it to a business that cares about the customer.

Had a newer tire to replace my spare . A man who worked there took care of it as soon as I got there. And what threw me for a loop was that he didn't even charge me. Was the first appointment of the day today (a Sunday). The tires I had ordered online, which showed as "available" at the Cerrillos Road location and were "buy 3 get one free", were only partially available--they had 3, not 4 as I had requested. So the service tech on duty, "Aaron", showed me another similarly priced, all-season tire which had a better tread design for snow (which was something I liked). They were not on sale, but he said he would match the "buy 3 get one free" offer. The tires were mounted and balanced promptly. Aaron even saw that my car had its "low oil' indicator on, and added some oil at no charge. I appreciated the friendly, top-notch service Aaron provided, and will continue to go to the Santa Fe Pep Boys on Cerrillos Road for my future tire needs.

Completely incompetent. I made an appointment the day before, arrived there, and they told me they did not have the appointment on the books. I told them I would come back in 30 mins if they could promise to have a bay open. I come back 30 minutes later, they take my keys and my car sits in the parking lot for another 20 minutes. I don't know about you but I cannot take an entire afternoon off work for an oil change. No apology, no offer to reschedule. Terrible service. Aaron Ortiz at Pep Boys Store #707 at 2710 Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe, NM 87507 provided fast, efficient and knowledgeable service that may have saved me from being in a car wreck, or worse. Last week I stopped at Pep Boys about 7 PM on my way from Houston to Salt Lake City. I was having trouble seeing at night. Aaron Ortiz was at the service desk. I told Aaron that I wanted to replace the headlight bulbs on my 2001 Ford Taurus with better brighter bulbs. Aaron looked at his work schedule and then asked me to drive my car up to a service door. Aaron changed out the bulbs while I watched and asked him questions about his job and the work he was doing for me. It was obvious to me that Aaron was self-motivated and loved to learn new things. I was impressed with Aaron Ortiz and I think you will be, too, when you need help at Pep Boys.

This place is Horrible. Every time I decide to give them another chance I regret it. I went to them because they were the only place in town that had the specific tires, I wanted in stock and I needed two new tires immediately. It took them about 3 hours go do the work. When I got my car back everything seemed fine. Until my tires kept getting low. They didn't seal the valve steams properly. Took it back they resealed the valve stems and I also had an alignment. Now my right front tire is out of balance and my car pulls to the right. I wish I could take it somewhere else but I paid so much for the tires I want it done right!

I had a very bad experience here recently. Came in for a wheel alignment but I was still out of spec (no big deal it happens). The guy at the desk recommended I should install camber kits and just bring the car back within 90 days to have it realigned for free. Bought the camber kit elsewhere and installed it myself. Came back the next weekend for the free alignment and was told that they can't do it for free and charged me 94$ again for the service. VERY misleading and poor communication! not happy at all.

Worst shop in town, i highly recommend not having your vehicle serviced here. We had our dodge ram serviced here and that could've ended in two lawsuits easily because of unskilled technicians. Had the serpentine belt and water pump replaced here and both times ended up getting sucked into the fan shroud while turning on to the freeway. When that happened we could've side swiped the vehicle next to us but we pulled the steering wheel for our life.

Called around to 3 shops to have my car timing set. Pepboys said they can have it done by 6pm while I'm in class. So i get a quote from them and drop off my keys; while going to school they call me back and say they don't have a qualified technician to work on the car. I was furious because they said they can get it done and i had 2 other shops that could've had it done also. While picking up my car, exhausted after school they had the window down on the driver side while it was sprinkling. That made my night, never going to have my car serviced by them and would like to see that they get more [qualified] technicians soon.

They are a bunch of incompetent good for nothings. I knew more about what was wrong with my car than all of them combined. They couldn't even do what I gave them complete instructions for. I was passing through town and couldn't do it myself otherwise it was minor repairs that I could have done myself. ZERO STARS if I could have given it that. And customer service is horrible. The manager Ricardo had introduced himself and told us he would "take care of us" , when I came back in I said "hi Ricardo" to him and he wouldn't even look me in the eye or return my greeting coz they basically told me on the phone that there was nothing they could do to secure a loose hanging bumper cover. Such a minor minor repair and there is NOTHING they could do about it. They had no wire , the only zip ties they had were 6 inches long . The name of the place should be PEP IGNORANT BOYS

I would suggest to take your business somewhere else. The mechanics do not know what they are doing I took my car to them to look at the brakes. The mechanic decided to look at my whole car without telling me and it took him almost 2 hours. I spoke to the mechanic directly. He told me not only did I need new brake pads but I also needed my rotors turned and drums resurfaced. They wanted 260.00 for that. Not only did he say my brakes needed work but he also said I needed a new radiator because it was leaking from the top....oh and not to mention a new valve cover gasket. Took it to my regular mechanic the next morning brake pads were at 65% so they were still good my rotors needed to be turned but my drums were fine. Radiator was also fine but I'm wondering why pep boys mechanic decided to over tighten my oil pan bolt and poke a hole in my cv shaft seal. It wasn't leaking before I took my car to pep boys. Just don't waste your time with this place. You will get ripped off and end up spending more money to fix what there mechanics broke after they do a so called "inspection" on your vehicle.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! The ONLY reason I used Pep Boys was because I broke down out of town and was in a jam. Predictably, they performed a shoddy repair and charged me $750. Don't worry Pep Boys, no need to respond with your pitiful, glad handed offer to contact your customer service for further resolution. I've already filed a claim with Visa and will simply take you to small claims court if that doesn't work. ***UPDATE***: After filing a claim with my bank and Visa, I was refunded. Wow just had two tires blown out approximately at 7:14pm -- Front and Rear SATURDAY EVENING / NOVEMBER 22, 2014 Two Blown Tires Driverside, and we called for Towing. Just in a flash we we driven by Towing to this PEPBOYS at 5651 San Mateo Blvd, NE. -- and Jordyn Castellano answered the call, took us in on this cold evening to the shop and had a great team put those two (2) wheels in. Very pleased that she did handle the call, provided great service, and communicated to us with confidence, experience, and total customer service attitude -- she was a service-oriented human being. Most Outstanding. While the other two (2) PepBoys were NOT taking our BUSINESS ($). We had some excellent service from Pep Boys-- Matt took care of us and he was the best. We needed a brake check, but from the inspection we got a lot of extra information about where the car needed work. Even though we decided to take the car back to Santa Fe, we got to hang on to the work list and price estimates, and Matt even enrolled us in a bonus program, getting us the initial inspection for free. All that, and he couldn't even take a tip from us. He was only interested in us getting safely where we needed to go. Top service from the nicest people. Had my car towed here when it broke down on the highway. They told me the engine had to be replaced. Quote on the phone, $8500. Quote when I went there $5000. I told them I would just salvage the vehicle and get a new one. Manager stated that his master mechanic wanted to buy the vehicle from me. I agreed. Went in and agreed on $550 and the diagnostic bill. $700 total. Brought the title in and then all he could pay was $300, ok, whatever. Signed the tite over. Fast forward two weeks, car is abandoned on the road and he didn't transfer the title. Now I have the towing and storage fees from the towing company. The management and employees at this establishment are ghetto and untrustworthy. Read the reviews and find a trustworthy establishment, not this place.

I LOVE THE U.S.A where your free to comment on either above average work or the lack thereof. The next time I spend $1,600.00 to have my truck worked on, I'll be sure NOT TO GO TO PEP BOYS. Other than he fact it takes 5 phone calls to get someone to pick up the phone, once I did get ahold of someone to talk about my complaints I get the run around on why the work wasn't done correctly. Basically I was told to have my tires rotated and ball joints replaced, along with upper control arms. When my alignment felt off within the 90 days I took my truck in to have it inspected and the transmission cooler replaced. I was told the alignment was good and sent on my way. Come to find out it WASNT ok and I'm looking at replacing my tires due to the excessive wear on the questionable side. Maybe I sound like a schmuck, but I think a lot of people would agree with me when I get upset about spending $1,600.00 to find out only (1) of my tie rods was replaced and the ALIGHNMENT IS OFF because the OTHER tie rod needs to be replaced. Bottom line; when someone spends that much money they just want the assurance that their vehicle will travel another 30,000 miles before another major mechanical need. Call me old fashioned, but THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT comes to mind when I think about the phrase CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I won't spend another penny at Pep Boys! I wish I had read the reviews prior to having all that work done.

Showed up at 10:30am with no line in service department ahead of us. Was going to have them do more than an oil change (check engine light was on), but after being told their diagnostic would cost $100 and just pulling the code "would not say what's wrong," lost all respect for this place. Have pulled codes for free at autozone and have no problem diagnosing exactly what the problem is just from that. Don't let these crooks scam you into spending your hard earned money for a BS diagnostic that you can get for free elsewhere. Continuing on, after replying we would not be paying for a diagnostic and would instead just do the oil change we were treated like crap and looked down upon. We were told that the car would be ready at 12. Fair enough. Called at 1 and asked if the car was ready. Turned out the car wasn't even up yet. Fast forward to 2pm and the car is barely being pulled back into the parking lot. Do yourself a favor and steer well clear of here. To to autzone if you have a check engine light. Ask them to pull the code. Will be able to tell you exactly what's wrong FOR FREE. Then you can get your car fixed almost anywhere else, JUST NOT HERE. Rude service and terrible pricing and false time promises mean a terrible place to trust with the well being of your car. Too bad. Used to be different employees and was much better. Will never be going back there and will be warning all to stay far away.

Unreal experience. I went to Rich Ford for a car problem and they recommended a $1400 repair- the lower control arms. Got an estimate from Pep Boys Juan Tabo for half the cost. However, when they went to repair it, they discovered it wasn't needed and told me so. That's honesty! Further, they correctly diagnosed the problem that Ford couldn't and made a much lower cost repair. That's competence! These guys are awesome!
